Hi girls, JenG, I’ll try to stay positive but my ER is tentatively on Oct31st, that’s 1 week away…how much more do you think my ovaries will produce more eggs? As for the needles your taking, trust me, in your tummy is so much better than in your leg, I’ve done both…and now I only do my stomach. Neither hurt, but the stomach does feel better. Cmelissa thanks for your prayers. Enjoy your “spa treatments”…you deserve them. Mega the cysts have not increased in size since my last b/w and u/s done. I have another question, can they use frozen sperm for IVF/ICSI. If this cycle gets to delayed, just to give my follies an opportunity to grow and multiple…and I don’t do the ER on Oct 31, well my dh is leaving Nov 4th . Can we freeze his sperm so I can use it when we are ready for the ER. I’m so pissed off, that he even has to go right now, you can’t imagine!!!!!

Life--Yes, you can absolutely use frozen sperm for the retrival. In fact, some RE's suggest men making a back up sample just in case while going thru an IVF cycle. Yeah, your DH's trip is bad timing. Does he travel a lot for work? Too bad it can't be postponed, I'm sure you could use him there during that crazy, hectic time. Waiting on you hand & foot. I wanted to pass this tip along for those who haven't had their tx yet. All RE's seem to recommend full bladders, but I've read several FET success stories where people went into it with an excruciatingly full bladder, so I think I'll chug way more water this time than I did last time. What's a little discomfort if it means a BFP, right?! I might bring a spare pair of underwear just in case though. LOL! Just a thought!

lifequest - we just did Dh's cryo today for back up in case he gets sick or is on a business trip. So your RE should be doing that if your doing IVF anyone correct me if I am wrong isnt it part of the protocol? My Dh is going to Texas on Nov 4th for 3 days for a business trip. and I start injections on Nov 2nd. So I am upset that he wont be home to help out those 3 days but if i cant do the injections I have already reserved one of my girlfriends to help out. We are doing Shared Risk so the cryo is extra i think it was 370.00 we have to do another before the retrieval which will be over Thanksgiving weekend. How long will you Dh be away when you go in to the ER? I dont blame you for being upset that he wont be there. Are you going to take anyone else with you??

Once more that's some great advice Mega, you should consider a career in a fertiltiy clinic, maybe a social worker..your great to talk to. Thanks for the heads up on frozen sperm...I guess when dh returns in 2 days I'll send him to the clinic for a collection. Yes, my husband travels a lot, he owns a tour operator company (they do Vacation packages) so he's always out, looking for new places to go. He has some World Fair in November that he has to attend to, so he's shortened his trip down to 4 days rather than a week. Still, your right, I wish he was with me during this emotional and hormonal time. How you feeling? Are you all pumped up and ready to go?

JenG about absorption with drugs in tummy being better, i too heard that. cmelissa if you need lupron when you are away i was told if you dont refrigerate it the only thing that changes is its expiry date and its only good for 28 days instead of the date on the bottle so not a big issue really if you need it and cant refreigerate. Robyn your a closet photographer huh -litterally. i love it!! Mega re accupuncture, i figure worse case scenario its an hour long of relaxation added to decrease my stress, a warm lamp on my belly and wonderful music to relax to. I'd go for it. It seems to have brought my fsh way down (coincidental or not? i dunno but its never been lower than an 8.04 and this month it was 3.2 and I'm 41 years old). Mega re full bladder its full so they can guide the u/s for placement of the embies and nothing else that i know of so be careful if you drink too much b/c (1) you may have to empy and that may not be so easy to let some out -I had to do that before as u/s tech said i was too full (2) if you have too much you cramp up really badly and want to keel over leaning forwards (I had this its sooo painful) and you cant keel over if you are lying on your back with your legs up. Not saying don't do it just a heads up from my experience of too much in the full bladder range. I also agree with you its God's timing and I'll be putting back 5 if i have them and i only want 1. I don't want to do a s/r so I would end up with real problems if more than 1 takes but I figure he wont give me more than i can handle and I'll let it be out of my control. Over 40 likely not more than 2 would take anyways but it's not heard of to have lots.

life -i just checked my records for cd6 growths and here is what i have from my past: 6 on one side with top two being 0.9cm, 0.9cm, and the other side 6 small top one was 0.3cm....by cd8 this cycle showed 1 at 1.1cm, [email protected], [email protected], and 1 at 1.5cm. by cd13 I was up to 11 follies all ranging from 2.1 cm to 2.6 cm so you have lots to work with. This was the month i had OHSS but my E2 level was out of this world and we had to coast me with no meds and wait til E2 came down before we could trigger. Just to show you another cycle comparison cd6 10 small (4 one side, 6 other side _not measured), cd 8, largest on one side was 1.0 cm and I had one cyst at 1.4 cm. by cd11 cyst was 2.1cm x 2cm x2.2 cm and my follies were [email protected], 1.3cm , 1.4cm, 0.9cm and cd 14 the day i triggered I had 3 on left ranging 1.7, 1.8,1.9 and on the right [email protected], [email protected] and 2 smallers plus the cyst. My E2 on this day was 7855 Canadian level or US level = approx to 214. I hope I helped you feel better than your follies are very fine in size

Hi ROBYN, I’m glad I’m not the only one, with a traveling dh…So you did cryo, interesting. I just checked to see if it’s even mentioned in my folder and I don’t see anything about freezing sperm. I’m sure it could be done, but I don’t even see it on the “price list”. I must mention this to the clinic right away on Thursday. Does your dh travel a lot? My husband will be gone for 4 days. My ER is scheduled tentatively for Oct 31st (Tuesday) but seeing how my follies are not growing like they should be, we might delay that day. I really don’t know who I’m going to take with me for the ER if dh is not there. My friend, who is doing IUI, might be able to come, (she offered) but that’s only if the ER lands on the weekend. Otherwise, maybe I’ll ask my mother in law. I’m sure you’ll be fine doing the injections on your own. I do, and always have. My dh has only given my prog. Oil shot….which was a pain in the BUTT!

oh life, keep in mind mine was iui for those cycles. I was only on hmg lepori not the lupron or suprefact. My problem with my cycle for ivf was oversuppresion so we are cutting that part of my next cycle when we get to it. You need a few more days to show more to grow and sizes to grow. If you want me to check up on other cycles I can too. I obviously didnt give you all my u/s info for all days but every few days to give you an idea. And I agree with Mega frozen sperm is ok, they prefer fresh but it is very fine with frozen too. Perhaps if they move your dates only by a couple days you have from oct 31 til nov4 when he leaves. Thats lots of time. I cant see it getting postponed by more than a day or 2.

isa - October 24

life our frozen sperm fee is $300 including 1st year of storage. I'm assuming that is for people that might have cancer etc and they do it before treatment so my guess is that it would be cheaper for just a couple of days. Heck they would have to freeze donor sperm so it must be ok. Could you imagine running into the donor sperm as he walked out of the donation room and you were going in for your retrieval ha. Wouldnt that be interesting.

lifequest - October 24

Isa, your to sweet! Thanks for sharing your numbers with me...I'm feeling a bit better, and will take it one day at a time.
By the way, I'm Canadian so that helped.

JenG - October 24

Hi Ladies, well I may try the tummy on tonight's lupron shot and let you know. Can't hurt. And, my husband is not going to be here for the entire IVF, with the exception of the "deposit" day, egg retrieval. He is probably going to make a very expensive flight up to Philly from ATL for the occasion. Robyn, you really dont need DH for the shots until the HCG and then afterwards for the POS. To be honest, I really don't like my DH around when I am doing shots just for the annoyance factor. "What are you doing? What did the doctor tell you to take? Are you doing that right? Does it hurt? etc. etc." Really, he really has a small part is this play. He comes in Act 2 as the hero after the damsel in distress has poked herself to death in Act 1... then in Act 3, he is off watching football again... I am so mean. Really they are a great support... most of the time. :)

lifequest - October 24

Isa, and thanks for making me laugh...I was just trying to picture what you just said about them running out of donar sperm...COULD YOU IMAGINE!?!

lifequest - October 24

Jen just read what you just wrote, and it cracked me up too...but it's true! lol

isa - October 24

JenG - HInt on the lupron belly dont put it within 1" either way around the belly button or its the sorest spot to do it. Also dont try and do it where your pants do up or it might be sensitive doing up pants etc. I try to stick to my sides and at least 1" below belly button and over at least 1" either side of it up to about 3" over and i keep records and alternate each night to give my belly a break. It's so sad. I have such detailed notes on my shot taking so as not to hit the same spot twice. Re donations- my dh has nothing to do but donate. He's not even in the room or even necessarily in the house when I am doing my inj. Even my triggers have always been in my tummy so I dont need him for anything but his sperm and I guess technically I dont need him for that either. haha kidding!! Lifequest you'll be fine and you know what, if it does get cancelled look at it like I am and that they learned a whole lot about how you responded and can make changes as necessary for an even stronger cycle. It all happens for a reason. Now please tell me what the reason for me not ovulating yet is!! Can't quite figure that one out. Just watched a great pbs show on ivf that I'd taped from last night. I think you can watch it on pbs.org, click on the 3rd one down called American Experience and then up comes the info on "test tube baby". It was all about the 1st ones and how controversial it was etc. I found it facinating. You can order the dvd for 29.99 too if you really want.

ROBYN - October 25

Hey girls just got some AWESOME news my sister just called and she is pregnant. We are so happy from my sis and brother -n law. They have a 2 year old girl her AF is due tomorrow. So her husband told her take a test so she did and he said its got 2 lines So she took 2 more and they are very positive. She was afraid to tell us she thought I would be upset. I am so not like that. I dont get jealous. I believe what ever is meant to be in life is what it is we have no control. Anyway LIFE my husband only gets sent away 2 times a year. It used to be more so in my case its not that bad. My husband is a Lead Software Developer/Senior Business Consultant for the largest Neonatology company in the US. Its called Pediatrix Medical Group .. Make sure you do ask about the Cryo when we got the pricing for Shared Risk it was on the price list of whats not included also it was listed on the IVF cycle sheet if we were just going to do 1 cycle. . We are freezing for a year with the storage. . Anyway my fingers will be crossed for you.

isa - October 25

Wow Robyn thats great news. You must be very strong to be so supportive with all you have to go through ttc. I am assuming they were trying or this was just lucky? Oh in regards to your question earlier about protocol with cryo sperm, we never did it, never got mentioned. Dh has never had a problem and we are doing icsi so if for some reason he cant produce say 10 spermies we are in real trouble so I've not requested dh do it. I dont have to worry about him being out of town as he doesnt travel (except of course with me!!)
