Ok girls check in when able and Angie can't wait to hear your beta #.

ROBYN - September 26

Hey all.. I had the mock retrieval yesterday. It went well completely painless. I took a painkiller cause I was afraid that it would be painful. Well I wound up puking and sleeping all day yesterday. They had me come in for B/W this morning a beta, estro and progesterone to start me on Prometrium for the next 12 days. After I get AF on CD1 I go in and do a E2, FSH and U/S meet with IVF nurse for my B/C script. The doc wants my DH to give a sample for freezing as a back up. He said he will do a 5 day blast if all goes right. We signed all our consents. Also they said 40% chance on the 1st cycle and add 10% because I already had a baby and no previous m/c. So thats all I can remember for now. Excited feels like finally getting the ball rolling. Well thats all for now will check in later.

isa - September 27

Hey Robyn fantastic that you felt no pain but so sorry you got sick. I'm confused why are they putting you on estogen and prometrium for the next 12 days? What cd are you now ? I picked up my docycyline antibiotic, estogen and prometrium to use around my procedures. Now its really feeling real. I am cd26 today and other than a few ovary cramping I have no sign af is coming but typically it would be tomorrow. I will go in on cd3 for my u/s, b/w (fsh, prolactin, e2 etc etc) and start my stims. I hope my cd3 isnt sunday as I hate full bladder sundays as it is usually the busiest day for some reason.

ROBYN - September 27

Hey ISA - they didnt put me on estro or progesterone just the Prometrium to bring on AF. The prog/estro and beta was the 3 blood tests I needed to do today so I could start Prometrium to get my period. I am CD31. After I get AF I need to call on CD1 then go in on CD2 or CD3 to get my BCP's then after that its the Lupron. Since this is my first IVF cycle I am still learning all the wording you all are using is this your first cycle?

isa - September 27

Oh I gotcha now ok I understand now and yes this is my first cycle of ivf. I am on lupron already and waiting af which should show up any day now. I didnt have to do the bcp's thank goodness as I dont do well on them. What cd will you start your lupron on ? I started cd21 (last thurs).Angie have you any news yet? Thoughts are with you.

ROBYN - September 27

Hey Isa - they gave me a booklet yesterday I need to read it to see when I would start the lupron is it usually on cd21? I think I remember CMELISSA also starting on CD21 but I believe she took BCP's also. Interesting I need to look in to that good luck to you this month are you doing the Shared Risk program or are you doing individual IVF cycles? We are doing the Shared Risk program thru Integramed.

My first beta # was only 8.... not very good.. They did not wanted to let me down yet but from all the charts I've seen on the internet this is not very promising. I'm trying very hard to be optimistic and think that things will get better.. Faith and hope is the only thing I have right now.

Angie, keep thining positively because any number means you fertilized (I havent even been able to do that yet) but is your clinic associated to an accupuncturist at all? The reason I ask is that mine was telling me that in many cases he can help to avert a misscarriage. Mind you there are many different reasons for it but he can help thicken my lining, send extra blood flow to uterous etc. It might be worth a try. I will keep you in my prayers that this all works out and that maybe the only reason it is a low # is that you implanted later than they anticipated and when you go in for another beta it will have risen. Try and keep good thoughts I truely believe in postive energy helping all situations. Keep us posted when you are able, as you are able.

isa - September 27

Robyn my clinic doesnt have shared risk at at my age (almost 41) and with my genetic condition (mosaicism of Turner;s syndrome) no one in their right mind would give it to me. I am paying for 1 ivf cycle from scrach and we are only going as long as the eggs from this cycle last (if there are any). If there are none, or once the eggs are all used up we are done for good with any fertility stuff so this is it for me. We are out of money. We spent over $5000 on meds and iui's and then all the ivf costs out of pocket too, we cant keep going on like this so we will be finished one way or the other after this ivf. I'm not sure if everyone starts Lupron on cd21 or not. Mega welcome back, I know you're due in today. I hope you had a great, relaxing little getaway.

isa - September 27

Robyn I just looked up my info and at my clinic there is a 3 cycle purchase of ivf (which is about the cost of 2 cycles plus $100) or if you do a 2nd ivf within 6 months you can save $500 and we have a refund policy if we end up with a cancelled cycle before retrieval we get all money back except $400, if its an incomplete cycle and no eggs are retrieved we get all money back but $1500, and if its an incomplete cycle with no embies to transfer we get all money back except $2500 and if you end up converting to an iui from ivf you get all your money back excpet $700. (no refunds on meds though, thats not included in the refund.)So I figure even if I have no eggs at least I will know I cannot get pg and it will have cost me the money for the meds and $1500 but at least I would know instead of wondering each month why it didnt work.

Angie, I'm sorry your beta wasn't as encouraging as you'd like. I hope the little bean makes it. When is your next beta? What day post-tx was this first beta? I hope it more than doubles for your next one. And Isa's right, you could very well have just had a late implanter. Hang in there! Robyn, so glad the mock retrival went well for you & was painless. But sick from the painkillers, yikes. That's too bad. You're on your way, Isa too. And Isa, goody, a new thread. Thanks!

angie35 - September 27

Thanks for the encouraging words. I've been reading that the numbers should duplicate every 40-72 hours and that some women can have a normal pregnancy with low hcg numbers. Hopefully this will be my case. The first beta was done 10dp5dt.. Next one is tomorrow at 12dpt. The only thing I see now are blue veins on my boobs.. but still no other symptoms.

Mega - September 27

I've heard that too Angie, about healthy pregnancies starting out with low betas. I too hope that's your case. 10 dp 5 dt could be a bit early esp. in the not that rare case of late implantations. Good luck tomorrow, I'm hoping you get much better results then. Sending growing vibes your way.

cmelissa - September 27

Hey Ladies - Isa thanks for starting the new thread!! Robyn - wow you are on your way now! Did they tell you what meds yet?? Well I had my 1st follie check today -i have about 8-10 good ones right now which is good for just a few days, they only try and get to you to around 12 b/c they dont want to cause hyperstimulation, etc.. which is good i assume! I should find out later today whether to up my dose or stay the same! Isa you are on your way too now with the ivf! I have to go back to the dr. Friday morning and Sunday morning! When you go in for your beta what is the # supposed to be if you are pregnant?? Angie you are in my prayers and im sending you high beta #s in my thoughts!! Isa i really hope this works for you this cycle! Would you guys consider adopting too? Angie i heard the veins on the bbs is a great sign of pregnancy!! mega welcome back we missed you!!

Cmelissa---sorry to be popping in on your thread like this, but occasionally I get bored and want to see how things are progressing for some of you. I am also a friend of CC's and wanted to see if she popped in. I am hoping she is well. Anyway, the following web page shows you hormone levels you should have and when. If you scroll down near the bottom it will show you HCG levels in pregnancy.

I don't know why every time I copy and paste an address it doesn't come out right. It should be:

cmelissa my clinic accepts anything over a 5 as pregnant but likes to see a 30 at our first beta. Also re adoption we always thought we would do international adoption but the cost we've put into iui's and ivf's wont allow us to afford that (it's minimum $25000) and regarding domestic adoption its about an 8 year waiting list and we cant adopt a child younger than 40 years difference between the oldest adult and the child (canadian rules) and my dh is 42 1/2 so the youngest we could get is 2 1/2 if we did it right now. By the time the paper work is done it would be at least a year so we would be looking at a 3 1/2 -4 year old if we qualified but we are pretty sure we wont qualify due to my physical /muscular medical problems (long story). Getting pregnant would possibly eliminate some of those problems from all the sex hormones relaxing my muscles but we wont know unless I get pg.
