Hi
I have just got ovulation tests an am gonna start them as soon as my period finishs! does anyone know is there a certian time in the day you have to do them? and do you have to do them at the same time everyday? i am starting them as soon as i come off my periods as i have irregular periods is it true that if you have irregular periods you dont always ovulate?

Hi, which kind of tests did you get? I just got my +OPK today on cd20. I am usually very irregular too, these past two months I seem to have been a 32day cycle. I used the clear blue digital ovualtion tests, where it shows a smiley face for your LH surge or just a circle if your surge hasn't been detected. They are pretty pricey but well worth it. When I saw the smiley face today if was almost as good as seeing the +hpt with my son. LOL! I always had trouble seeing if the test line was darker or the other way around. I think that you should test the same time every day. Good luck!

Hi ladies, I think they're all the same- i just used a generic one. Keep in mind though, it may indicate o, and it may be false. On the other hand, you might miss the lh surge all together and receive only neg tests- but you may actually o! So, don't place too much power in those test strips, just keep on bd'ing. The month i got pg, i never received a +opk. I just thought i was based on my ewcm and i was right.

I use the clear blue monitor - it has a little more start up cost b/c you have to get monitor and sticks but i have been using it for over a year so I have gotten my money worth - average about 25 a month on sticks for a 32 day cycle.. mine says you should also use first sample of the day for best reading

I was gonna buy that clearblue monitor but i thought i'd try the cheap 1's this time as i tryied the clear blue ovulation tests last time but if these dont work i'll buy that monitor! is it any good?

Hi! I have VERY irregular cycles..DR has put me on metformin to try and normalize them..my last cycle was 53 days, which seems long but compared to the 6 months and 2 weeks the one before that lasted..I was happy!! I got my positive opk on Saturday which was cd 10 for me!! You woulda thought I got a positive hpt! I have had a few annovulatoty cycles so I was happy! Anyways, Ijust wanted to say that I would take the hpt once a day until the lines get a somewhat close in color..then I would start testing twice a day. I test around noon and then again around 4 or 5. Some women do miss their surge if they do not test twice a day close to time! I use the cheapies and everywhere I have read says not to use fmu on those! Good Luck!

I am pretty sure that the clear blue monitor does work..I have had a couple of cycles where I did not have peak but I think that s just I am not ovulating every month - I have also had 2 cycles where it said peak and I went to Dr and had blood work that confirmed the ovulation. I had 2 miscarriages last year and both of them I could tell within the 2 days that I got pg bt when I peaked according to the monitor...It will take at least one cycle for it read you correctlymine usually starts asking for me to use a stick on day 9 or 10 and typically I peak between the 14-16 cd then will start exactly 14 days after the peak. Good Luck...

Most OPK suggest using them around 6 PM, to give the hormone a chance to get to your urine. WHich is obviously different then taking a PT (which is first thing in AM). Are you on Clomid? I think they say to start OPK 5 days after you finish your last pill because that is the earliest that one could ovulate - you may want to start then. The tests can get expensive.....
