ok girls, I am freaked out now. Does anyone know anything about Fifths Disease? A friend just emailed me telling me that her son MAY HAVE had it last week when we went to dinner. I guess it is not a big deal for most people to get, just a rash....but, it's more of a risk with pregnant women! I left a message with my nurse about it but haven't heard back yet. They don't know FOR SURE if he had it and its too late to test him for it. I didn't have much contact with him at all, probably held him for about 30 seconds. ok, as I was typing this the nurse called back, I gotta go get some blood drawn to make sure I wasn't exposed!!!

Nikki I found this on this very website regarding fifth's disease. They say it shouldn't pose any harm but in some RARE cases if exposed in early pregnancy (I'm assuming 5/6 weeks) possible miscarriage but they haven't shown that to be the case....Here's the info:Fifth Disease and Pregnancy

Exposure to fifth disease during pregnancy may cause worry to some women. Here are the facts that you need to know about this common illness when you are pregnant.
What is It?
Fifth disease is a virus caused by the parvovirus B19. Although it can affect any one of any age, children under the age of 15 are most often infected with it. (Read more about fifth disease of children.) Symptoms of fifth disease usually start off as a mild cold. However, a few days after the cold goes away, a rash develops on the face that looks as though a person’s cheeks have been slapped. This rash then spreads to the rest of the body before clearing up within one to three weeks.

Fifth Disease in Pregnant Women
Generally, most pregnant women experience no serious complications if they are exposed to the parvovirus B19. In fact, about half of all women are already immune to the virus (although they may not know it) due to a previous exposure. Those women who do get sick usually experience only mild symptoms with no ill effects on their baby.

For some women, though, parvovirus B19 can lead to severe anemia in the baby and may even cause a miscarriage. The risk of this happening is higher for those women in the early stages of pregnancy. However, this occurs in less than 5% of pregnant women who have been exposed to fifths disease. There is no evidence to support the idea that the virus can lead to birth defects or mental retardation in a child.

I’ve Been Exposed, Now What?
If you suspect or know you’ve been exposed to the virus, contact your health care provider. She can perform a blood test to see whether or not the parvovirus is present in your blood system. If the virus is present, your health care provider may decide to monitor you more closely.

There is no vaccine or preventive medicine available for fifth disease. In fact, there is very little you can do to avoid being infected with the virus other than washing your hands frequently. Since people are contagious before they develop the characteristic rash of fifth disease, it is difficult to evade exposure. However, if you know that there is an outbreak in your work place, you may choose to steer clear until the outbreak has died down. This is entirely a personal choice, though.

Morning all-
I hope you are all well this morning. Nikki - let us know what your blood tests reveal. The info. mommy sent seems pretty reassuring. How are the roids girls? :) My poop issues were the WORST issues I had during/after pregnancy. I still have poop issues - rotten kids! :) j/k of course. I remember the nurse saying "you have quite a bundle" (meaning roids) after Raegan was born. Isn't that nice? :) Mega - I hope you are feeling well. Any crazy cravings? Speaking of crazy cravings - did you see DQ had out a Kit Kat Blizzard - I'm not even pregnant and I'm craving that baby! :) Baby - 26 pounds gone?? That's great! Doesn't it feel good to get back into your pants. I gained 22 during pregnancy and I remember looking down after Raegan was born and I was like "why do I still look 6 months pregnant?" I was so depressed - but in about 3 weeks I was back in my clothes. It is a good time of the year to have a baby - cause you and your little bundle can get outside and enjoy the outdoors. How is Colton doing? Don't they grow fast? They are absolutely AMAZING! Mommy - I have been to Columbus many time and I really like it there. Beats the podunk town I live in! :) Good luck with your surgery on Thursday - I hope they figure something out. And I hope your dd's goes well - kids seem to bounce back very quickly. When Raegan had her tubes put in we came home and she was trying to walk around the house and kept falling over cause of the anethesia - but she was ready to go and was irritated that she wasn't able to be mobile. :) Tenk - sounds like you have a plan. Good for you. It shouldn't be that hard for you guys. I don't know if it counts for much, but I do say a prayer for every single one of you (and your families) often. How is Hailey? I hope all is well. I am just getting over AF - I had a 29 day cycle this time, so things are pretty much back to normal. Now that I am really very okay with not having another baby - it will probably happen. I have considered being put back on the pill - I don't know. I really don't mean to sound insensitive to you guys who are trying so hard - I just don't know if I want to start over again. I hope I don't sound that way - I'm really sorry if I do. Just know you guys are in my thoughts a lot. Well, I have work I need to do. You all have a great weekend.

JSmith - March 30

Tenk - when I re-read my post I wanted to clarify something. When I said it shouldn't be that hard for you guys I meant that it is not right that it is that hard - sorry if it came across some other way! okay - bye guys!

Tenk - March 30

Good morning girls! JSmith~Thanks for that, Hailey is doing ok right now. I would imagine if we get another cold weather day here that she'll be sick again tho. Let's hope not since her appt is the 5th with the Peds Pulmanologist. I'm confident they'll figure her out tho. Ok I need to confess something. I have Gonal-F injections that I'm going to use this cycle too. Myself, not with a doc. I'm not going to *over do it* tho. I'm not going to stim until day 7 and do it every other day until right at O time and then trigger myself! I'm tired of waiting and we want a freggin' baby. JSmith isn't it crazy that right when you decide you don't *need* a new baby your cycle regulates itself??? Wow, I just don't understand somethings about life. Well preggos I hope your well today. Mommy~hope you and DD are taking it easy til the big day. Calm the nerves maybe. Baby and Mr. Colton I hope you both getting some sleep!!!

nikki2204 - April 2

Good Morning Ladies! Hope everyone had a good weekend. Anything new for anyone? Not much here...other than today is day 1 of trimester 2 WOOHOO!!!
Have a great Monday everyone! :)

Mega - April 2

Nikki--YAY on being officially in tri 2! It's a beautiful thing huh?! And just think, in a few more weeks we'll be feeling our babies kicking & dancing in there! Can't wait. How scary on the possible Fifth's Disease exposure. When do you get the b/w results back? Thank God according to the info Mommy found it doesn't sound like it'll pose much risk to the baby at this point in your pg though. But it's always better for the OB to be proactive. Bet you're counting down til your appt on Wed! Mine is on Friday & I'm counting down as well. :) Are you in maternity clothes yet? I actually have been for several weeks. I may have jumped the gun a bit, but I am showing a bit now though. I'm obsessed really, I'm buying way too many clothes but I can't help it. LOL! Fortunately I do try to look at some consignment shops too so that saves a bit of $. JSmith--Yeah, I did see the ad for the new DQ Kit Kat blizzard & I'm sure I'll break down soon & get one. Yummy!!! :) Nothing too crazy cravings wise, except sometimes I'll want Chef Boyardee ravioli, something I never want non-pg. LOL! But that's as crazy as my cravings get, except for the time I dipped carrots in choco pudding. Go figure! Isn't it weird how things go though, now that you're enjoying not trying, it is entirely possible you will end up conceiving then. If you decide to go on the pill again, go for it. Whatever is best for where you are right now. I'm glad you're continuing to check in with us though. Tenk--Glad Hailey is doing well now. Good luck with her appt on the 5th. As you said, I'm sure they'll figure out what's going on with her. Good luck with the Gonal F, here's hoping that's the ticket. Baby--How are you & Colton doing? Hope the Toledo weather has been cooperating & you've been able to take Colton out for more park romps. Is BF getting easier now, or is it still some good some not so good days? I imagine there's a lot of that in child raising, good & less good days. Mommy--How are you doing? Is DD getting nervous for tomorrow's surgery? Good luck today with DH's Love Juice analysis! When do they plan on having the results analyzed for that? Keep us posted on DD's surgery when you can. And your lap of course, but only when you're up to posting. We understand if it takes a day or so...My roid adventure has drawn to a close thank goodness. No more shark attacks, no more blood period so far. But I'll keep the Colace (generic actually) handy just in case though.

mama keya - April 2

nikki2204 - April 3

Hello everyone - Mega, I hopefully get the b/w results back today. I am awaiting the call as I type. Yes, I am so anxious for tomorrow's appointment, I just can't wait to hear that heartbeat! I am wearing alot of maternity shirts but today is the first day I have worn a pair of maternity pants, and I gotta say, I am loving them! lol. I will be doing more shopping very soon. Glad to hear your roid situation is better, no more shark attacks! lol HOpe you are feeling good....I am feeling much better now. How is everyone else doing?

Mega - April 3

Nikki--Darn OB offices have to be quicker on those b/w call backs! Hope you hear from them soon--with good news of course. Keep us posted. I finally heard back yesterday afternoon (after I called them in the first place) for my NT test results from more than 2 weeks ago. It's all good, negative. Phew! I'm sure your dr may bring up the NT test tomorrow, you're close to the cut off date though, if you're not already past it. Yeah, mat pants are so much more comfy aren't they?! I do have a couple of interim pants from my mom though that still work, but basically I only wear mat pants or my regular pants with a tummy sleeve (like a Bella Band but 1/2 the price). I must look pg to strangers now b/c the lady at the Chinese Restaurant I got lunch from today looked at my belly & asked what I was having. :) Glad you're feeling better. Ah life in the 2nd tri! Mommy--Good luck today with DD's surgery!!!

nikki2204 - April 3

Mega--- Glad your results came back good, but what are the NT tests? Am I having a blonde moment, LOL? I'm not sure what they are.
They still haven't called me with the results!! Killing me, I tell ya.

Mega - April 3

Nikki--That's nuts that they still haven't called ya back! Call them again if need be! NT = Nuchual Translucency. It's a completely optional screen, usually only done til 13 weeks, 6 days or so. It just tells you if you have an increased risk of Down Syndrome, & Trisomies 13 & 18. It's an u/s & a b/w (finger prick). The u/s checks the nuchual fold (or fluid accumulation behind the baby's neck), which is just 1 possible soft marker of DS. Most people with a higher than ave. nuchual fold don't turn out to have a baby with DS fortunately. We did the NT for another u/s as much as anything really. To tell the truth. But still a relief to know it's negatitive. Let me know when you hear back from the dr's re: your b/w.

Tenk - April 3

Hi girls! Mega, I'm so glad that your B/W came back neg, but I'm with Nikki, I don't know what NT is??? Either way, I think it's cute that you look preggers enough for someone to ask if it's a s/he....YAY! And I agree with you both, maternity pants are super comfy most of the time. Nikki, sorry their making you wait so long, that's crazy, call again and tell them to hurry the f*** up...LOL. Baby and Colton how are the two of you? I signed your petition and signed for DH today. Mommy, I sure am thinking of you and your family this week. Please keep us informed when you can...ok? JSmith, hope your well today! As for me, the doc called me this morning and he set everything up for the IUI. YAY! So then I started making the calls to get everything set up, well turns out that our insurance does NOT cover the IUI. So out of pocket (not too bad) it's $375 or $465 depending on how they have to wash his sperm. Then I call Kev and told him and he said forget it. I don't think we need to do it then. It's too much money for something that may not work. Then I mentioned that he wants a $200 pair of sunglasses AND a freggin' $25k boat that we plan on buying in July. So WTH makes him so special that he deserves for us to spend that much money on him but we can't spend $500 on an IUI.......I'm so upset with him right now. Then to top it off he called me about something else, that I didn't do and now he won't even talk to me. Stupid boys......bleh! I don't understand why he's like this. One minute he's all for all the steps were taking to have a baby and the next minute he hates every decision I make. Why does this keep happening??? This is like the 5th time he's changed his mind....he says "I'm all for no protection and hoping we get pregnant, but I don't like the fact that science is involved in making our child" WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF I'm sooooo pissed off!!!

BabyRN - April 4

Evening ladies! How is everyone. Tenk~ Sounds like you are having a rough day. DH's just don't understand. Over on my mom board we are all complaining about how our dh's don't get it and how they don't help very much now that most of them are back to work! Like we all aren't working ouselves. Hello we are raising your child! Whatever. Either way sorry to hear your dh is being a poop head (there I go with the poop again!) Oh and thanks for signing my petition I really appreciate it. Can you imagine having your breast lopped off and having to go home once you wake up! OMG what is the insurance company thinking??!! Must be men! Nikki and Mega~ Yeah you are both officially in the 2nd trimester. Maternity clothes huh? You must be getting a little belly! YEAH!!! Those babies are growing big and strong inside of you. I would love if either of you are taking belly pics to send me them, I would love to see you pg! I wish I would have taken weekly pics but I didn't think about it till the end so I got some late pg pics. I love them. Nikki~ Sorry to hear about your exposure to 5th's Disease. Sorry I don't know too much about it. We just read it in the prenatal records when they come in for labor. I have never seen any complications from it. Hopefully they will get back to you with the results soon. That may be a test that has to be sent away to read. We have some tests like that. They have to go to a special hospital to be run, they take forever! Mommy~Good luck with all your surgeries coming up for the fam and yourself! Hope things are going well for you. Jsmith: How's it going? So glad you are at peace with not having any more babies unless it just happens. That must be a great feeling. Hope your family is doing well. I think of you, well all of you really, often. I wish I could post more often. It's hard to keep up with the mom board (they move VERY fast) and the baby. So sorry for not posting as often as I'd like to, I'm trying :0) Colton and I are doing well. Each day gets better and easier. We have our "moments" but we are hanging in there. He is beginning to look more and more like Chris (dh). He is LLLOOONNNGGG and lean just like his daddy. He is one month today!!! Can you all believe it??!! Time flies when your having fun. He is starting to coo and be more alert and look around at stuff more often. He loves to hang out on his play mat and look at all the stuff or be in his crib and watch the mobile go around. It is so cool to see them evolve. He si smiling more often and usually smiles when he hears my voice which is very rewarding. He gave a little laugh today and I think it took him as off gaurd as it did me! Hopefully we have more of those giggles soon! Well I just finished pumping and Colton is sleeping so maybe dh and I will have a little time together. Not much of that lately. One of us always has the baby in our arms. (Not such a bad thing).

mommywannabe - April 5

Ladies, no surgery for me today. It got cancelled due to DH's numbers. LOL!! My doctor is going to do it still but wants DH to repeat his S/A again in two weeks to see if his numbers were a fluke. OK, here's the numbers, morph good didn't get the exact numbers but the nurse said it was great. Motility was 30% average should be above 50% and count was 4 milllion average above 20 million. So we'd definitely need IUI or IVF, unless his numbers were a fluke. This almost mirrors his last (spilled) test that the RE was throwing out but the swimmers were slower than 30% and they were at 26% then and the count was about the same. But RE wants a repeat before we do anything else including my surgery. Plus the nurse said he had 10 surgeries scheduled that day and mine would of been behind anyways. Well I'm actually glad it is getting rescheduled because I didn't really have the vacation time accrued at work so it would've been unpaid. So I'm all for rescheduling. I wasn't unhappy at DH's numbers like I thought I would be. I guess I was assuming it would be horrible. I don't know why his first wasn't horrible but like the RE I really didn't count those because of his spillage. LOL!! Oh well. Anyone know any secrets about raising at least the motility? DD's surgery went great and I was told she was the best patient all day. LOL!! I wonder how many other families heard that as well. She did good and when we got to the surgery center and when I checked her in was the only time she cried. She kind of got scared but when the nurse came out to talk to her she was fine. LOL!! I stayed home yesterday with her since my surgery got cancelled for today and took care of her. Her throat hurt yesterday but she seemed a lot better this AM when I was leaving. She said her throat didn't hurt. She was watching her TV when I left and laughing so she must be doing better. She's a trooper. I am very happy with how she did. By the way I never thought seeing your child stoned would be funny but it was. They give her a sedative before surgery and to see her high as a kite was funny. Just hope she never gets high illegally. LOL!! DH was great with her as well. Since he's the surgery king she listened to a lot of what he told her and I think that reassured her as well. So just wanted to let you all know I'm here today. Hope all is well. Need to read posts then I'll respond later.

nikki2204 - April 5

Good Morning! Mommy-- Sounds like DD did awesome, kids are so strong arent' they?? Glad to hear all went well. I'm glad the surgery cancellation was good news for you. At least you know now what the problem is....the LOVE JUICE! lol. Hopefully an IUI will do the trick for ya. Baby- Sounds like you and Colton are doing great! I love hearing about him and how he is coming along. Tenk -- MEN! I know, they can be so insensitive sometimes....I hope things are getting better and you guys got to maybe sit down and talk about it more. Mega-- how are you hangin in there? My doctor appt went very well yesterday. We got to hear the heartbeat which was amazing. Mega- I will be doing all of the testing next appt, he says he does it between 16-18 weeks and I will be 17 at the time of my appt. He won't be doing another u/s until "at least 22 weeks" :(
