Ladies, have any of you ever heard of spotting (not full on bleeding) in early pregnancy???? I'm 10.5 wks along and I found that I am spotting this morning. It's brown like before AF and it was very slight, I was lucky I even looked or I wouldn't have noticed it. I dont have any cramping or pain, but I'm still scared to death. I called the nurse and she sounded concerned but then decided after I gave her more details that I should just "keep an eye on it" and if it turns bright red or continues, to go to the ER. I need info, but can't find a whole lot on line. Has anyone experienced this or heard of it happening and it not turning into a miscarriage? Please help ladies!!! Thanks. Hope you're all well.

Hi Mel. Try not to get too worked up. I had a little brown spotting (usually just on the tissue) after a BM about every 3-5 days from my 4th to 7th week of pregancy. And once after sex at about 6wks. When I saw my doctor 2 weeks ago, we were able to see the baby and the h/b and all was well. The doctor suspected that it was late implantation bleeding and said some women can have this all throughout their 1st trimester. He said it was normal and there was nothing to worry about, unless the blood was red, heavy, and accompanied by cramping. I am 9 wks now and haven't had any spotting since about 7 weeks (fingers crossed). Did you recently have sex (last two or three days)? Did you notice the spotting after a BM? It could be late implantation bleeding or I have also heard that your cervix is just more sensitive when you a pregnant and can bleed after a BM/sex/internal exam. Take care and get to the ER if it gets worse. Let us know how it goes. I'm praying for you!

Mel, i wouldn't worry, but do tell your OB. I know Robyn on the IVF thread is pregnant and has a hematoma, so she is bleeding constantly. it is no harm to the baby though. the blood clot just has to bleed out she said. so there is even that possibility too. again, no harm to the baby. but just alert your OB anyways. but try hard not to worry too much. well baseline sono today for my IVF, i start stim shots this sunday. ER possibly on Valentine's day!

Thanks Tink and Ginger for your encouragement. I was able to get in to see the doctor. She did an exam and listened to the baby's heart beat (my first time hearing it, which was nice, though under the circumstances was more stressful than it could've been). She said I"m bleeding from the surface of the cervix and it's not to worry about. She used silver nitrate (?) to stop it and set me another appt for two weeks just to be sure. We did hear the baby move, and heard it's heartbeat, so I feel WAY better now. Thanks again for your words of encouragement! WHEW!

Mel, I am glad is is well. I wonder what set the bleeding off at your cervix? How far along are you again? I am excited to report that I had my second u/s this morning (9w1d) and I saw my baby moving around. Baby is right on target and growing so much---I can't believe the difference in just 2 weeks. I saw his big ol' head and stubby arms and legs (he looks a lot like a gummy bear). It was so awesome!

Kristi1 - February 5

Hi ladies! Ginger, how exciting! I cant even imagine how cool that is to see...and I love gummy bears ;-)!! Mel, how are you doing? Shawna, Shauna, whats up with you guys..?? Shauna, did you get moved in? Shawna, us tomorrow right?? How cool! Tink, how is going your way...still looking at Valentines Day?? You will have to explain your procedure to us in more detail as I think your the first one on this thread to do IVF and I for one, do not know much about how it all works... ;-) Well, nothing to report here....felt a little crampy with a backache yesterday which is how I always feel before AF...AF should be here sometime between Wed and Sat....suppose to test Wed, but thinking about waiting till Friday since my cycle goes 28-30 days and Wed will just be 28....so far no spotting which usually starts 2-5 days before, but I am not reading into anything - or at least trying not too...been feeling a little nauseas for the last week, but seems too early to be feeling sick and I have been around a ton of sick people the last couple weeks, so not reading into that either....oh well, we will just wait and see, but my gut is telling me not this month, so will just get myself geared up for another IUI.... Well, I hope everyone is doing great...I have to get to Bunko now, will check back soon!!

Well, the bleeding turned to bright red Saturday night, but still no cramping with it. The nurse on call said to stay off my feet all of Saturday night and Sunday which I did and it seemed to help. Today there was more (none on Sunday) but it was only in the morning, then turned to brown, and now seems to be gone. Not sure what's going on, but I'm hearing more and more that I don't need to worry too much about it if I'm not cramping, so I'm not going to stress unless the red bleeding continues on. Ginger, to answer your question, I'm only two weeks ahead of you. I'm at 11 weeks. How lucky that you got another u/s. How'd you manage that? Krisit, it sounds right now like it could go either way for you, but of course I'm wanting to believe the best... probably a good idea just to think of IUI again so you can keep your mind off the what if's. Maybe that'll be the key to it happening this time around! Amazing how it happens when you're preoccupied with other things! I'm still praying for you! Hope everyone else is doing well. By the way, my computer is STILL in the shop, so I'm writing from my peice of crap one which I seldom use. I'll try to write again soon though. BABY DUST and much love,
Mel

Kristi: Good luck with the testing and let us know how it goes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Mel: I am glad you are staying positive and the bleeding seems to be slowing down. Like I said before, my doctor mentioned that spotting is somewhat common throughout the first trimester, but I know what you are going through b/c I spotted from weeks 4-7. Yeah, I lucked out with the 2nd u/s, but I am also high risk so they have to monitor mine a bit more than the avg. pregnancy. My twelve wk u/s is on 2/23 (they will do nuchal tube tests and take measurements) so I am just praying all is well with my gummy bear! Talk to you ladies soon.

Just checking in real quick. Thought I'd let y'all know that the bleeding stopped yesterday for the most part and is completely gone today. And still, I never had any cramping, so I'm still feeling very positive that the baby is ok. In fact, I'm realizing I am needing some new pants right about now as mine are getting a wee bit to snug. So, that's a good sign too! Kristi, I'm dying to know. Fill us in when you can! I'm thinking of you constantly. Shawna, can't you find a way to share your u/s pic with us? Being so far along, it's gotta be a clear picture! Ginger, I didn't recall that you were high risk. Why is that? And so far everything seems to be going smoothly for you, I hope? Tink, hope the ER goes well! Keep us posted! Shauna, are you all moved in and settled now? how've you been!? Miss you! K ladies, take care and I'll talk soon. Oh, we got our computer back last night... but don't hold your breath. It's showing signs already of still not being truly fixed! ARGH!!!!

Kristi1 - February 7

Mel, so glad to hear the bleeding has stopped! Sounds really good! Shawna, would like to see the u/s pics too...how are you doing these days?? Shauna, Tink, Ginger, hope everyone is doing great! Well, as you know I am supposed to the blood pg test today, however I have decided to wait. Till when I dont know yet. I am cd28, still no spotting whatsoever but....i broke down yesterday and took hpt and it was bfn ;-( So I am just still waiting...I mean AF is not even late yet, so who knows... I may go take the blood test Friday, or I may wait till Monday, I keep going back and forth on it....part of me says wait till Monday just becuase AF will for sure be late if she hasnt shown up by Monday...she could come anytime between now and Saturday...I dont know. What do ya'll think??? I read the beta blood test will detect pg sooner than urine testing, but i dont know.....what to do, what to do.... ;-)

Saw that some of you were asking about me...GEE THANX...Its nice to be loved. hee hee. TTYS

stepmommel - February 8

Hey!! Krisit, just so you know, I took a HPT that was BFN and then a few days later it was BFP. I guess it could go either way. I say give it another couple of days and then test if AF still hasn't shown. Hey Shauna, good to hear from you again! What sort of renovations are you doing? Fun, fun, fun! I love that sort of stuff!

Shauna - February 8

Hey MEL, We are replacing two stair cases, ripping out some carpet, removing some wallpaper (the usual). I love it too. I cant wait...this is our first house. Good Luck Kristi!!!!!

Tink - February 8

Kristi, i play bunco too! lol- instead of torturing yourself, i would go get the beta on friday. that way you don't worry all weekend about it. i am just about getting it over with personally. i like to know and be able to grieve the loss of a cycle if it was a BFN and then give myself a day to cry then move on to the next cycle bright eyed and bushy tailed. i've done this for a year. it is the only way i can manage to get through it- one day at a time and always looking ahead. even though your HPT was a BFN, it is still early and so don't count yourself out! i am wishing you lots of luck and baby dust! Shauna, renos, how fun!!! mel- glad the bleeding has stopped and you are feeling good. here's the book on the IVF you asked for!!! LOL ------------------------------------- As for me- well the IVF thing is very real now. i had my first follie check this am since starting stims. I've had 4 nights of stims. i have 6 follies on the right and 5 on the left. biggest measuring 12mm and smallest at 4mm. they want them at 18mm before i trigger. so i am guessing i could trigger as early as saturday or sunday. i am on a drug called lupron (shots!) to suppress ovulation, so i won't ovulate on my own early and ruin the timing. the other 2 shots are still stims, stimulating more growth of follicles. once the majority of my follies are at 18mm, they will tell me to take the trigger shot that night to induce ovulation 36 hours later. so if i trigger sunday night, we will do the egg retrieval on tuesday am. i am knocked out for it, DH is allowed in the room (hope i don't act crazy under the anisthesia!)- then they insert a needle into the uterine wall to reach the ovaries and suck out the eggs. while i have 11 good looking follies now, they could suck out a lot more- including small ones that aren't really mature or viable. but they take all they can and figure it out later in the lab. it is a 20 min or so procedure. that day, i have to be in bed all day resting up. they will let us know how many eggs we retrieved, it should be at least 11, but could be a lot more if more small ones grow the next few days. that is considered day 0 in the lab. they put the eggs and sperm in the petri dish and see how many fertilize. if Dh's sample looks bad, i.e. the motility or morph appear off, they will actually inject the sperm into the egg (ICSI) for us. it costs more, but helps iwth fertilization for male problems. Dh has shown slightly below morph in one test and slightly below motility in another. but never boht at the same time. and not off enough to really matter, so we don't know if we will need ICSI or not until that day and depending on the sample. they will call with a embryology report on day 1, 2 and 3, letting us know how many fertilized, and how many are still viable and looking good. 1/3 will probably not make it right off the bat. it is all a numbers game. how many will fertilize, how many will continue to grow and divide (cells). by day 3, if looking good, they will let them continue to divide and hoepfully reach the 8 cell stage, embryo! we would do a 5 day transfer and i come in that day and it is like an IUI- they insert the embryos (2 for me) like an IUI kind of. i lay on the table for an hour after, then do bedrest the next 2 days. hoping they implant! that's about it. of course there are lots of shots, drugs and sonos. i had one today and have one sat, sun, mon and tues too. bloodwork everyday too. so they monitor me each day to figure out when is the right time to trigger and ensure my levels are good, lining is good etc. so far, it is looking good. i have a decent amnt of follies, good lining and good response. hopefully these eggs are good- they should be, i am only 33. but who knows. i am hoping DH was the problem all along and even though his test showed him only slightly off (and not enough to stop us frm getting pregnant), perhaps it really was enough and they can't penetrate my egg. who knows. wish us luck! sorry for hte book- i know someone wanted to konw the process

Kristi1 - February 8

Wow Tink, that is some process!! I wish the best of luck through it all!! Well, I broke down today and went in for the beta blood test this morning...waiting on the results....its 1230p here and thought I would have them by now, but so far I have not heard anything....i will let you all know as soon as I know!

Shawna1 - February 8

Hi Girls, my we've been chatty. That's great to see!!! I had my 20 week us on Tuesday. Everything went well and we found out that we're having a baby!!! I told you we wouldn't find out! It wasn't hard at all! The baby is doing great and I've only gained 9lbs which is awesome! I'll be 21 weeks tomorrow! Kristy I can't wait to find out you're results! Mel, I'm so relieved to hear that the bleeding and spotting has stopped! Continue to take it easy! Shauna, I'm very happy for you and your family! I love that you use the word "yous". My uncle always uses it and we laugh all the time! Tink, it sounds like you have quite the process to go through and I pray that it works out for you! Ginger, why are you considered high risk? Is it because of your surgeries in the past or am I confusing you with someone else? Take it easy! I'll try and be more diligent when it comes to checking in on you girls. I don't like missing anything. I'll work on getting those us pics and belly pics put on myspace. Take care everyone!
