Life After IUI

Ann, I did it 12/9. Are you going to do a post-IUI u/s to make sure you ovulated?

Ann - December 16

Sonya, I did the post-iui u/s yesterday (Thursday). The dr thinks I ovulated from all three follicles. Surely one will work, right??? I scheduled a blood test for Dec. 27th. I asked my dr when is the earliest the test might show + after iui. She said 12 days after if you use an early predictor test. This waiting is killing me!! How are you doing with it?

Good Morning, Ladies! And how is everyone doing this beautiful December morning? I'm from South Africa, and we have got a perfect sunny day today. Very hot, but lovely. This 2ww is killing me. I try to keep busy, and not think about it, but as you know, it is not that easy. How are the rest of you doing?

Ann - December 19

Hi Elizabeth, the wait is consuming my life this time for some reason!! I thought you might be from Australia due to your posting time and the way you ordered the date! South Africa--how cool! I just read an article about some famous SA wine (started with a "V"). Are you on holiday break yet? I am planning to take a few days off around the holidays. Hopefully, that will help keep my mind off this wait...

Elizabeth - December 20

Hey Ann. I'm not taking a break during the Christmas season this year. I'll be going to the beach in March. I really hope that I'll be pregnant by then, so that I can just relax and have no worries at all. I have to say, this time around, the 2ww is better for me. Only one more week for you, then you'll know! (I live in the 'wine district' and we do have some lovely wine here in SA)

Ann - December 20

Hi Elizabeth, I am glad the 2ww is going well for you. The wine estate I read about was Vergelegen. I had to look it up (can't stand it when I can't remember something). How great to live in a wine district!! Have you decided when you are going to test? I decided that I am going to test on Xmas morning. A + would be a great present!

Elizabeth - December 21

Small world! Vergelenen Wine Farm is only about 30 minutes drive from where I live. It's a great idea to test on Christmas morning ... the baby will be even more special (if that is possible). I think I will test on the 27th - if AF hasn't arrived yet. So you have only 4 days left! I will only be able to read the post again on 27th, but I will definitely think of you especially on Christmas day, Ann.

Sonya - December 21

Well...bad news on my end. My blood test is tomorrow, but I certainly don't need it. Day one is today I guess b/c AF came this morning. They want to start me on injectibles now but I am wondering if I should just move to IVF. I don't want to waste another year of IUIs if it's just not working for me. I will cross my fingers for the rest of you, but I will not be blessed w/a pregnancy this Christmas.

Ann - December 21

Sonya, I am sorry to hear the witch arrived. I know how hard it is, and with the holidays, it is likely worse for you. I haven't moved on to injectibles, but it seems like they work well for some people, depending on why they can't get pg. Good luck next time, and keep us posted on what you decide to do.

Ann - December 21

Hi Elizabeth, I will look forward to seeing your results on the 27th. I will post by then as well (maybe sooner if I get good results, however unlikely that is...). Have a great holiday season, and talk to you soon!

Elizabeth - December 22

Hi. Well, today is my last day at work until 27th. Sonya, I'm so sorry to hear your bad news. I tend to agree about the IVF, but maybe you should try the IUI a couple of more times with the injectables. You never know, it might just work this time! Ann, I really hope you get your wish on Christmas day!
Rene, your big test-day is tomorrow, isn't it? Let us know if (sorry, when) you've received your BFP! Good news will do us good at this stage. Merry Christmas everyone!

I am on a close cycle as well. My dh and I have been ttc #2 for only 2 months, but we tried for #1 for 2 years. With my son, we tried on our own for a year and were unsucessful. I went to my OB?GYN and she diagnosed me with PCOS, she also had dh checked and he has a low and slow counts. We did Clomid for 3 cycles and on the 3rd cycle the follicles were large enough for the IUI, so we did that in Sept 2003 which was unsucessful. I had to hold off after that for a cycle because I had a large cyst that needed to go down, so after a month off the cyst had not gone down, we scheduled surgery to remove it. That surgery got delayed because in Dec 2003 I ended up having emergency back surgery. I had what is called cauda equina, it is an emergency situation basicly I had a slipped disc in my back that was slowly paralyzing me from the waist down. I had the surgery to remove the cyst in Feb 2004 and at that time was told I needed to go to a RE because my tubes were blocked. I started with the RE and she did another dye test on my tubes and the dye went through. So I started on the injectible Repronex and I did an IUI in May 2004 and it was sucessful. I had my son in Jan 2005. Now we are trying for baby #2. I talked to my OB/GYN and she said that we could try Clomid, HCG and IUI again. I did 50 mg of Clomid last month and had no response at all and this cycle bumped up to 100 mg of Clomid. I had my u/s on 12/10/05 I had 2 good sized follicles and 1 that was kind of small. I had my HCG injection on 12/10/05 and my IUI on 12/12/05. I am now toward the end of my 2ww...the waiting is the worst part!!! I took a test yesterday (because I could not wait any longer) and it was +, but that could still be the HCG getting out of my system. They told me the earliest I should test is on 12/26/05. I want to know now, so that seems like forever away. I just wanted to let you guys know there is sucess with this process, but I am in you position again in the 2ww.

Ann - December 26

Hi everyone. I took my hpt this morning--BFN as always...I will still keep my appointment w/the dr on Tuesday, though. Hi Shannon and welcome! Let us know when you test. Hope this will be your month for #2. Happy holidays!

Elizabeth - December 27

Hi all. I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I'm very sad, since AF came yesterday (2 days early). I burst out in tears, and cried for about an hour. My poor DH didn't know what to do with me. I feel a little better today. My dr. is on holiday in January, which means I can't do IUI#3 this month, so I've decided to take a total break, and not even take the Clomid this month. In Feb. I'll do IUI#3. I really hope it'll work, as my dr. told me that we will only try 3 times, and if that doesn't work, IV is the next step. Ann and Shannon, I hope you have better news than me!

Ann - December 27

Hi Elizabeth, I am sorry to hear about your af. I had the exact thing happen--af arrived 2 days early and arrived yesterday. I am so disappointed/depressed.

Elizabeth - December 27

Ann, I'm so sorry to hear about your bad news too! I'm also depressed, but we just have to remember that it is all in God's hands. There is absolutely nothing we can do about it, except to believe that when the time is right, we will have our babies. It's easier said than done, believe me, I know. I still feel like breaking down in tears every 5 minutes. When will you be going for your next IUI?
