Hi Ladies, I hope you are all well and the clomid is working for you all. Can you please answer two questions for me? My consultant has not mentioned anything about a IUI whilst taking clomid? Why do some of you have this done? Sorry to sound so dumb, but I'd never heard of this until I looked on this website. Also is it normal practice to have a scan whilst taking clomid? :-) Good luck and baby dust to all

Hi Boo b doo - I'm the same as you. Only heard about IUI & scanning on this website. My consultant gave me 2 months supply of Clomid, wished me good luck & asked to see me again in 2 months time! Not sure whether different countries treat their Ladies differently or not. I'm from London, where are you from?

hi, i don't think everyonr gets an IUI when taking clomid, i am not. but i am getting an u/s every month and then a blood progesterone after i ovulate. i thought it was normal practice for the u/s to see if it is working properly. i just had a scan yesterday and it is working so far for me! this is my first month of clomid. good luck to you!

Hi Diddybubby, It makes you cross doesn't it, its like take these pills and see how it goes....why don't they give us more information, like the kind we have seen from this website? There seems to be a big difference between what the UK and the USA do in these circumstances. A lot of the threads I have read seem to link clomid and IUI's, It would be refreshing to hear what the normal procudure is, if there is one? Are we missing out on the chance of a bfp, or could there be other circumstances sorounding why others have IUI's with clomid? Maybe someone can let us know? I think we are all up for trying anything at this stage. Did you have a tubal reversal, when was it and did they give you any other info to go away with, like how long your tubes would stay open etc? ;-) fingers crossed for all of you.

Hi TK07, welcome. Thank you for your response, are you from the UK? My consultant has not offered a scan with any of my clomid taking. I might make an appointment to ask him why this is? I have had a blood test on CD21 of each my last four cycles. that's it, mybe he thinks that is enough? Have a great day to all. Baby dust *.*.*.*.*.

Hi Boo, Not everyone get's an IUI. The reason for mine is that I have had Cervical Surgery and also while on Clomid it can make your cervical mucus non-existence. So an IUI will place the "best of the best" sperms into your uterus thus bypassing the possiblitiy that your cervix. I've read and been told that your cervix can create cm that is too thick or just not produce at all and that can prevent the sperm from making it through. Wow, Diddy, I can't believe your doctors would just prescribe clomid and not monitor you. You should suggest to get monitored since Clomid can have side effects that could be harmful to your ovaries if not monitored.

Boo and Diddy, I think that procedures vary between doctors. When I started Clomid back in April, my doctor monitored me with ultrasounds the first month and the two months following I only did the Day 21 blood test to see if I ovulated. I was always worried that I was getting a cyst from the clomid when I started to feel aches that didn't seem normal. Luckily it didn't happen. This month is my first month back on Clomid and I will be seeing a Fertilty specialist who will be monitoring me just about every 5 days during the cycle.

Thank you Hannah, that has made things a little clearer for me. I wonder if I should make my Consultant (I went private) aware that I have had surgery on my cervix, although this was a while ago. The private hosiptal did not have access to my notes. I guess I did not think it relevant. I may bring it up in December when I see him, if nothing happens between now and then :-) The other thing is I have not had a scan in the last five months since taking clomid. I will now make an appointment to get this sorted. What day do they need to do a scan on clomid? Thanks for the info...good luck to all

Diddybubby - November 2

Thanks Boo, Thanks Hannah. Just realised that nearly every site say's that Clomid should not be given unless you have been checked for existing pregnancy. This was not even mentioned at my last consultation, no test, no scan. The NHS don't give much love & compassion. Wish I could afford to go private - better start doing the lottery. Fingers crossed might not need to if all goes well this cycle. Sending lots & lots of baby dust to you guys xxx

MommaD - November 3

Hi ladies, I want to jump aboard. I started Clomid Oct 31th, which was CD2. A little history on me, I was pregnant last year, but had my daughter prematurely and she died a few hours later. I am so ready to have another baby but it hasn't happened yet. I took all kinds of test to see if anything was wrong with me, and all of them came back normal. All hormone levels are normal, tubes are clear, everything is fine, except I don't ovulate on my own, so I'm on Clomid. I haven't had a period since July 26th, and then it started again Oct 30th due to the Clomid. I am so excited and I hope to get a BFP soon. I hope all you ladies get a BFP as well. I look forward to talking to you all soon:)

Diddybubby - November 3

Hi MommaD - Sorry to hear what happened. I have been taking my Clomid as soon as I get home from work with water. Thought not to take during the day incase of visual disturbances that they mention could be a side effect. Did not want to risk whilst driving during the day.Might be my own daft idea but hey who knows. Sending lots of baby dust to you

Hi everyone, Ok, I made an appointment with my doctor to see why I have not been scanned in the last five months of taking clomid and he has again referred me back to the consultant, but on the NHS now. I rang the consultants PA at the hospital and asked her why I was not being monitored by scans and she said that is it not normal practice to do scans and even if it were they do not have the resources to do repeat scans for all the women who are in the same situation as us. She did say that the only thing they look for when doing this is enlarged ovaries, but as my p4 level was only 42.5, this reading tells them that my ovaries would not be enlarged at this stage. She is going to wait for the letter of referral from my GP then will send me an appointment. I'll let you know wht he says when I eventually see him. I have ordered a fertily montior to see if I will 'o' this month as I'm sure I did last month around CD 18 - CD21, later than they tell you, the cm changes were different and I had a lot of cramping pains where my ovaries are. I wish I'd had a monitor last month so I can be sure these symptons are what I think they were! Still, hopefully it will hppen again this month and I'll be better prepared. The PA at the hospital told me they do not rate ovulation tests and advise people not to waste money on them, but a close friend of mine recommended having one as that is how she eventually fell pg after trying for over a year. I hope you are all well and the clomid is doing it's magic. take care

quenn - November 3

I have the clear blue easy fertility monitor and I did ovulate last month. The monitor didn't work for me and has not work for the last six month. Anyway I'm wearing a watch this month check out the website www.ovwatch.com. The watch is suppose to pick up ovulation earlier than the monitor.

mommy2josh - November 3

Quenn, I am so glad I found someone who actually bought the watch. I saw the ed about 5 months ago, but never actully heard of anyone using it. I am curious if it actually works. Will you post let us know? Good luck to all of you on this thread.
