Pregnancy after HSG

Thanks Stephanie...I've heard that some women actually have very light periods/spotting during pregnancy but I just wasn't sure if it held true for "other" pms symptoms (more specifically bloating)...thanks again for sharing your experience. Good luck to you.

Hi. I had my HSG done last wednesday and Dr. didn't say to wait to have sex or anything, but due to schedules, we didn't have sex until today. My HSG was really painful and the Dr had trouble getting the catheter through my cervix. really had to work at it. anyway, after we had sex today there was a huge pool of blood on the bed. I am no where close to my period. Has anyone else bled after sex after HSG? The HSG was a week ago!

Peggy...I never experienced that kind of blood after my hsg but I was told by my doctor that some blood was normal but from the sound of it, maybe you should check with the doctor. I also had a problem with my cervix being very tight during the procedure and had sex the very next day and the next few days following that and did not have very much blood at all. Again, I would check with your doctor. It certainly couldn't hurt. Good luck to you.

Peggy-I had a little spotting after my HSG. My husband and I had sex the next day and I spotted, but there was no pool of blood. I would call the doc just to make sure everything is ok.

Did my first round of clomid this month and had my progesterone level tested. It came back 14.5. Doctor said she wasn't sure if I ovulated or not since the number should have been above 15. Has anyone ever had a lower progesterone level while on clomid and still got pregnant? Good luck to all out there.

Can clomid cause you to ovulate late in your cycle? Can clomid cause your period to be late? Thanks to anyone who can help answer any of my questions. Going slightly out of my mind....anyone else out there feel the same? Praying for everyone ttc...

Hi Nikki, from everything I have read and talked with my dr. about it doesn't appear that a pregnancy will result from a low progesterone result. My dr. told me that he likes to see at least 20! In terms of your period being late when you are on Clomid, I think everyone's cycle is different. I did 3 cyles on Clomid and got my period day 27 or 28 every time. After 3 cycles of not getting pregnant I moved to 2 cycles of injections and now I'm on Femara and Metformin (this is my first cycle on these). I know what you mean about all of this driving you crazy, I think many of us feel exactly the same way. It's very frustrating ttc and it not working month after month. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hello everyone. I have enjoyed reading your stories and wish each and every one of you all the best.

I'm sure hoping to get pregnant after my second HSG. I had one in April which revealed I had blocked tubes. I'm praying that Clear Passage has worked for me as it has for Sheylahh and so many other women. I go for my second HSG on Wednesday. Please pray for clear tubes for meeps.

Have read alot that all have written and would like to share. I had my hsg on the 4/28/05 after stopping the pill 8/1/04 and today I got a BFP. From my experience, easily said than done, get the whole baby issue off your head and concentrate on other things. The more you talk about it, the more you get depressed. Just relax while having sex and enjoy the whole process and sooner or later you will be a happy mum. It took me a year of praying and believing that I will soon get a baby after 2yrs of marriage without any.....on a light note.........Baby dust to all and do not give up your dreams

I agree nk...I must say we do always have fun!!

Thanks Dianne for all your help. I have a quick question for you. You said that you got your period when you were on clomid on day 27 or 28. Was that normal for your cycle? Were you normally day 27 or 28? I always get my period on day 25 or 26. The month of my hsg I got it 4 days early but that was the only exception. So I'm not really sure what to think. Let me know how things are going for you. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Nikki, in answer to your question, yes my regular cycle is around 28 days- give or take a day or two. My period was a week late after I had my HSG in July, but I wasn't on any fertility drugs that month. Hope this helps. I'm currently on cd 20, so I won't know for another week if the HSG worked along with the Femara. The waiting is the hardest part!!!

I've been reading these posts for awhile and decided to join. I have a 3yr old who was conceiving in a month and now we've been trying for a year, skipping a few months b/c I had early breast cancer but am in the clear now. Just had the HSG done yesterday 9/6, everything looked good and all other tests are fine just wondering-I may ovulate day 14 or 15 and my husband goes out of town day 17 is that enough time if we BD everyday till he leaves since the HSG should help things along? Thanks to all.

Dianne~ What is femara? I've never heard of it. Is it like clomid? I'm now on cd 27 with still no period. I took 2 hpt and both were negative, which of course I know doesn't mean anything if my hcg level is too low. My doctor told me to wait a week and take another one and let her know one way or another. I'm assuming if I don't get my period and I still get a negative result that she might have me go in for blood work. Still hopeful because I've NEVER been late with my period ever. My doc did prescribe 100mg of clomid for this next cycle but am waiting to see if I even need it. Crossing my fingers that I don't. You're a 100% right about waiting being the hardest part of all of this. Good luck to you and let me know what happens next week. I have an appointment on 9/15 to see an RE if I don't end up pregnant this time. Thanks for getting back to me. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Lilmimi~ It certainly couldn't hurt to be as "active" as possible during that time. Unfortunately the month of my hsg didn't help but now with a round of clomid I'm hopeful. I'd take advantage of that ovulating time with your husband and with luck the timing will be right for you. I've heard that the hsg can cause you to ovulate sooner or later than normal. I believe I ovulated earlier the month of my hsg. Don't know if that was due to it or not but I did get my period on cd 22 instead of cd 25. Good luck and hope this helps.
