I thought it would be helpful to ask this question...For those of you who are taking progesterone injections what position did you find was less painful? I start my shots tonight and was hoping to get some advice/pointers.

i laid on the couch, face down and DH did the shot for me with my pants pulled down some. my routine was: ice the area with ice pack for 10 minutes while watching tv. put the PIO in warm water to warm it up. then have DH prepare the shot. remove ice pack- alcohol swab the area and then he did it. then i sat on a heating pad for about 10-15 minutes afterwards. i didn't even feel my first PIO shot, my bum was so numb from the ice! i only had to do the PIO for 2 weeks because my progesterone came back super high at 110, so i got to switch to suppositories instead. but the way I did the PIO made it manageable. good luck- i hear bending over the bed or couch sometimes is good too- but laying down helped me.

Thanks for the response Tink. I think that is the way I am going to try it. I'm a little nervous, but I'm sure it will be fine. Congrats on your pregnancy. How is it going for you?

it's going great, some morning sickness that is a pain, but after a year of treatments, i am thankful to be sick. yes, use the ice trick- i went and bought ice packs at walmart and they worked great. i was shocked i didn't feel a thing at all the first time, it makes a big difference. be sure and massage it in afterwards too, so you don't get bumps.

Tink, your method worked. I think the ice packed worked so well. I didn't feel the needle go in at all. I will definitely be using that method for the next two weeks. Thanks so much for the advice.
