Toni - March 1

Hey guys! Judi how far along are you again? Tonay sorry to hear you have to wait for another cycle! Isa I wish I had seen that show. I'll look for the other episodes. And I wish I could help with the cyst issue. I had no idea they could release anything.

Becca - March 1

Hey all! Isa- when I had a cyst the RE told me that your body creates extra estrogen to fight the cyst so they do the blood work to check your estrogen levels. Nothing new here. I don't have an apt until Friday afternoon so I am just injecting myself nightly until then.

Hey Tonya, I have done 4 iui cycles. #2 was a chemical pregnancy, then had to take 2 months off for cysts & xmas so cycle #3 was no meds, 1 egg and an iui, and cycle 4 was last month with 15-18 large eggs, hyperstimulated & not pg. We have changed things slightly each month with the iui's so I cant really be sure how many we will do but this is my thoughts: We got pg once with cycle #2 so it is possible. We are doing iui (if it works out) this month and if not pg my guess is I will fit one more in before we go on a spring 3 week European trip. When we get back I think it will probably be ivf time (once only due to cost. )My costs will be in the neighbourhood of $12,000 with possibly a little ins. coverage for some of the meds. We decided we will not go into debt so it is money we will reallocate from other things (ie retirement fund etc). I guess depending on how many eggs they got would depend on additional tries. It is $1000 the 2nd month if you have eggs left over. With my age (over 40) ivf would basically be telling me if my eggs are good or not. I am hoping amongst hope though that we can do it with an iui before our holidays. That's my thinking (at least as of today).

Toni, I'm almost 31 weeks, which is really hard to believe. The time has gone by so fast. She will be making her appearance very soon.

Toni - March 1

Judi I wish I felt as if time was flying by! You will have to tell us the cute stuff you get at your shower. I will be 23 weeks Friday.

Judi - March 1

Wow Toni, it's hard for me to believe that you're that far along! I remember when you got your BFP. I'm excited about the shower. It's a little early, but it's two hours away from here (a friend of my mom's is hosting it) and I didn't want to travel that far later on. My friends are giving me another one here at the end of March. Isa, the fertility clinic that I went to offers a "shared risk" IVF program, which means that they will perform IVF 3 times for one set fee (I think it's around $16,000) and if it does not work after the 3 tries, they will refund 75% of your money. That way, if it doesn't work, at least you haven't spent the entire amount for nothing. Do you know if any clinics in your area offer the same type of program? I hope your IUI works, though, and IVF isn't even an issue.

Hey Judi, I don't know of any clinics here (I'm in Canada) that offer it but I keep reading about places in the states that offers it. We do have a 3 ivf thing for 10,500 I think it is for 3 tries but that is the base cost plus meds etc. For one the beg.price is $5200. its the meds (close to $3000 if not more) plus icsi, assisted hataching we need plus the cost of u/s , meds, doc fees, nurse fees etc that bump that 5200 up to about the $12000 for one.I'm not sure if we did the 3 thing how much extra gets added on but it wouldnt be something we could afford. I hope we dont need it. The one thing that is offered is some money back if for some reason they have to cancel the cycle or there are not eggs etc. I'm praying I never need to ask those questions. I'm back in again tomorrow to u/s,b/w (for cd10)

Becca - March 2

Hey all! Isa- my clinic (the only one in my state) does not have a program like Judi was saying. But what they do is the first time they will freeze some embryos and so each additional month is only about 2,000 for u/s and the actual transfer. Three rounds here would cost about 15,000 (that includes meds and all the little extra things that may be needed). The only problem is if you do not get enough eggs for that many cycles.Hopefully I will never need that either. I go tomorrow for an u/s as well. I am a day behind you in my cycle.

Becca - March 2

Re just called and they moved my apt up to today because I am also getting my annual and they are overbooked tomorrow. Also, the RE decided that waiting until cd9 for my u/s was too long even though my eggs grew slow (but steady) last month, she wants to not take any chances with them booming right away this month and us missing our chances.

isa - March 2

Becca how'd your u/s go. Mine are slow growers too (except the 1 cyst is up to 19mm). My measureable follies are 3@ 11mm, 1@10mm + some that are still too small. E2 up to 3900 but lh only 4.7. There was a fairly new nurse today and she said maybe the 1.9 is a follie but according to the sheet 2 days ago the u/s tech wrote 1.4 cyst and there is no way my real follie grew from 10mm to 19mm in 2 days so it must still be the cyst. I hate dealing with new nurses, which is bad but I'm always afraid they are going to miss something. She wants me back in tomorrow for u/s,b/w incase the 1.9 is a follie so we dont miss ovulation but with my lh so low there is no way I will. I'm in daily now for u/s,b/w which is a real pain but they dont want to chance anything especially when I am not textbook in my patterns. Hi to the rest of you.

Becca - March 3

Hey all! Apt went well. We also did my annual and that meant a breast exam. The CRNP told me my breasts are very lumpy right now, probably due to all the meds and hormones, but I do need to watch it with my monthly self check since breast cancer runs in my family. My follies were really small. I did not have as many as last month but still close to 20 small ones and a few that are only at about 7mm I think. She did not really tell me the sizes. I had a different CRNP then normal too. It made my annual very painful because my cervix faces my tailbone and she is not used to my cervix so it took some work. Lining was at a 6. Istarted estrace today so hopefully it will go up some. I have another u/s on Sunday with the actual RE because she will be there doing an IVF.

isa - March 3

good appt. lining up to 7.9, E2 up to 6400 so he has dropped me to 75mg now.I have 4 follies measureing 9-14mm on one side and 2 @ 12mm on the side the cyst is on. The cyst is up to 21mm and taking up too much room for other follies to grow. Nurse seemed pleased. Don't need me in tomorrow so I go in sun again for u/s,b/w. Becca with smaller follies will he up your meds?

Becca - March 3

They did double my dosage from what the original plan was for the next 3 days and we will see what happens on Sunday.

Lee - March 4

Toni, I went to babiesrus to see your bedding. Wow, it is just beautiful! What a lucky little Jill-Lee-an.

Toni - March 4

Lee, you made me laugh! Don't you love that store!!? We are going to register there over spring break. Do you get to have a shower for Hope? I have nothing left from when my two were babies. Did not know I would ever have another one!

Lee - March 4

Toni girl, I am sure my friends will have a shower, but it won't be until after she is home. I don't need a thing really, so it will be more for the memories than anything else. No one knows at this point, but when they do they will start planning. I did get new pictures of Hope, she is growing and really looks like she is plumping up, so that was a relief. She was dressed in pink and very pretty, unlike her referral where she was in a white ss onesie and you could tell she was just wanting to be swaddled (she was 23 hours old in that picture). Anyway, I do love the bedding. Have a good weekend!
