alrndn....I am sooooo sorry to hear about your BFN :-( :-( :-( You have been trying for 8 years?? Wow that is such a long time. You know...my husband and I adopted 4 kids (ages 8 months, 2, 4, & 5 at the time) through the state of IN before we tried fertility drugs. It was the hardest thing I've ever done. We went from no kids to 4 kids with LOTS and LOTS of problems. And I was only 24. But b/c I had been thru similar problems in my own childhood, I could definitely relate to them. Long story short, I love them more than anything in this world and I cannot imagine my life without them! You would never know that they are adopted or even that they had so many issues. They are completely different kids!!! I am not saying to give up on your dream of having biological kids, but I just want you to know how amazing adoption is. We actually got offered 2 babies within a 2 week time period (one didn't even have a name yet. He was a safe surrender baby), but b/c of foster care rules, we didn't have enough space for all of them. Maybe adoption is something you should consider or pray about and see if it is for you. Believe me when I say, I forget that mine are adopted! And you can give a child that's already here a new mommy :-) Just a thought.

adopted- thanks for the support. we tried adoption once. a 30yr old female chose us, however once the baby was born she changed her mind and kept it. in the state of IN there is no legally binding form for adoption until the baby is born. so there is nothing we could do about it. it was one of the worst experiences ever. it was the closest we ever got to having a baby. we heard the heartbeat and saw the ultrasound. now we have a nursery in the house that i dont even like going in. i dont know if we are ready to try that again. i will think about it. what agency did u go through for surrender babies? the state of IN welfare or an adoption agency?

mssy - I have talked to a lot of my friends about implantation cramping and they said it feels like AF is coming but a different feeling. I hope you get your BFP this month! When do you get to test?

mssy419 - April 23

hey Patty. How are you doing with the Estradiol? Is it the same kind of thing as Clomid? I am once again going to wait until the Monday after I test, which again falls on next Saturday. But every time I get AF, I spot 3-4 days before. So I'm praying that I don't, which may give me enough courage to even take a HPT next saturday!

alrndn....we became foster parents and fostered our kids for almost 2 years before the parents rights were terminated. In our case, the birth parents wanted nothing to do with them and there was only 1 visit in all that time...and it was the "goodbye" visit. The kids barely knew why they were seeing the birth mom and were crying for us. This is nothing like being chosen by birth moms. These are kids who are wards of the state and are free for adoption already or in the process of birth parents rights being terminated. We put our names on a "list" for babies b/c that was what we originally wanted. ONE baby! Your social worker will work with you to see what child would best suit your family. If you want a baby, you may have to wait a little longer, but they will keep you in mind when babies become available. And since you don't have any kids, you will be priority over those who do. Surprisingly, a lot of people don't want babies b/c they don't want all the responsibility of someone who can't do anything for themselves. Sooo it's definitely not impossible! Our social worker called us about those babies. They were also wards of the state. If it's something you want to do, I would start the process of fostering classes, which is all free, and get a foster license. You tell them you want to "foster to adopt" and they'll give you kids that have very little chance of being returned to the parents. The system wants to get the kids out of their case loads ASAP so they will work hard to get you a child :-) In the meantime, maybe you can keep trying with fertility drugs. That way, at least you're working towards a new option and new goal at the same time. Let me know what you decide!

Oh yeah....alrndn....if you do foster a child, you don't have to pay for them to have anything b/c the state will provide you with a per diem check (you get so much money per day, per child to help with expenses). Also, the kids are on medicaid, so you don't have to worry about medical bills.

Adopted- the more i think about it the more interested i am. i think i will talk to my husband tomorrow and see what he thinks. we could do both fertility and see about a foster child. where would i go to see about foster classes?

alrndn....do you live in IN? No matter what state you live in, you have to call CPS (child protective services) or The Dept. of Family and Children. I'm not sure the exact name of your office b/c it is different in every state/city. If you look in the front of your phone book, there are normally phone numbers for government offices. If you can call one of those, I am sure if you keep making phone calls, you'll get pointed in the right direction. They will send you a packet telling you everything you need to know to become a foster parent. The first thing you have to do is enroll in the fostering classes. In IN, they had different options for people's schedules. And let me forewarn you...in the classes, they tell you worst case scenarios about the kids, but don't let that scare you :-) Just be open to the blessings that God has for you on this journey...or what ever journey He has for you.

Adopted- I think it is awesome that you have adopted so many children. It is something that I have always wanted to do. My husband is open to adoption but would like to try for our own first. I think adopting a child is the most self-less thing you can do.
Alrndn- I understand your mad at the world feeling. I feel like I have been through all 7 stages of grief while ttc. I am a kindergarten teacher and it is very hard to see unfit parents with 5 and 6 kids! Why can't I get one?? Then all of my friends keeping getting pregnant on their first month of trying. When they call I try to be happy for them but cry the rest of the day. I wouldn't wish this process I am going through on my worst enemy. One day I am fine and prepared for the long journey ahead of me ttc and the next I am a crying mess. So horrible. I also feel like no one understands. Keep your head up and stay positive. It is really all we can do. But please know that you aren't crazy for feeling mad and angry. I am praying for you (all of us)

adopted and whitney...i'm really glad that i joined this group because of people like u. i honestly feel bipolar at times because this process really is an emotional rollercoaster. and i feel like none of my family or friends ever really understand what i'm going through. its easy for someone to tell me to try again because they don't comprehend the toll that each cycle that doesn't work takes on us. my dr told me yesterday that i can try again with my next cycle and he will add FSH injections. i'm gonna try it so maybe this will make a difference. adopted.. to answer your question, yes i live in IN.
thank u everyone for the support. i'm praying for a BFP for all of u.

Hi Mssy: I'm taking estradiol with the clomid. I guess clomid is an anti-estrogen and can affect the endometrium lining. So I take the estradiol the day after my last clomid pills to boost my estrogen up and build up my linig. We have an appt on Thursday morning Day11 of my cycle to check on my follies. Praying I haven't ovulated early again this cycle! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that you get your BFP keep me posted!

mommyto2 - April 26

took 2 more tests, both BFP!!!!! Clomid 50 mg days 3-7. Most dr.s want you to take it days 5-9. but i have read that it is much more successful with days 3-7. my daughter was conceived on clomid first round days 3-7. any ways I monitored myself with OPK. and IUI with frozen donor sperm about 27 hrs after the surge. I was very surprised. Since it is all about timing. And given that I was using frozen sperm which doesn't live as long. But it can happen the first time. And for everyone who is having infertility issues, have faith. My best friend had unexplained infertility for 8 years. Then she unexpectedly became pregnant. Now has a 15 month old and is pregnant with twins. None of her pregnancies were a result of any help. So anything can happen. I go to the dr. the middle of may. will keep everyone posted on how many. baby dust to all.

Patty49 - April 26

Congrats mommyto2!! I started using the OPK again this cycle with clomid as well b/c last cycle we ovulated before my day 13 ultrasound and had no idea. Did you ever have a false positive or even a negative when it should have been positive? I started testing on day 4 of my cycle so I have been doing it while on clomid and I started estradiol today. I'm hoping I get the surge tomorrow or wednesday as my husband is going out of town this week and that's when it;ll be day 14 :( Keep us posted on your pregnancy again congrats!

lfisher2 - April 26

Update- Well I went for my first ultrasound this past Friday and everything looking fantastic. I got to see the heartbeat and the baby is measuring correctly so far. I go for another ultrasound on the 6th and if things continue to look good my fertility specialist is referring me to a reg. dr! :) How is everyone else doing? Goodluck to all!

Anyone have PCOS that had success with IUI? I'm still on gonal f injections...it's been ridiculously long!! 2+ weeks already of the injections...I go in tomorrow morning for blood and U/S...I want to have the IUI done. Anyone with PCOS that had success, please share your positive stories! (I will be doing gonal f, ovidrel and IUI- hopefully soon!)

AdoptedByLight - April 27

rtm7108....I have PCOS and hypothyroidism and am currently 7 weeks 3 days pregnant! I did 3 rounds of fertility meds. The first time, I did Follistim, the second time Gonal-F, and the last time I did Bravelle. My first cycle lasted 23 days and it was canceled b/c I stimulated TOO well. My second cycle lasted 21 days, but I only had one mature follicle that time. My last cycle lasted 18 days and I had 6 mature follices and did IUI...and let's just say my husband was very proud of his swimmers :-D And it worked! I am pregnant with a singleton and got to see the heartbeat already. I graduated from the RE and have my first appt. with a regular OBGYN on May 3. So it DOES happen!!! And we only did one IUI. Sooo just keep hoping and DEFINITELY pray!! Keep me updated.
