First time IUI success?

babysophy, I have polycystic ovarian syndrome, which means (from my understanding) that my eggs line only the edge of my ovaries and in the middle is a cystic mass that produces insulin and testosterone which triggers the brain not to ovulate. So low estrogen and risk of diabetes. If you are on chlomid I suggest asking your Dr to switch to Follistim shots, if someone told me that 7 months ago I wouldn't have wasted my time with chlomid. Then again we have different problems, I had low estrogen so the shots were definitely the answer. I'm guessing with only one functioning tube you can only get pregnant every other month? Keep us updated.
Altonette, taking an at home preg test worked for me 3 days before my blood test and definitely put my mind at ease. The wait is terrible!
olgakay0518, Follistim is amazing. It was my answer to 2 1/2 years of disappointment, and in just one try. Good luck to you, I would suggest trying that! Don't get discouraged, we all get that amazing phone call one day. :)

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and I'm grateful to have found it. I had my first IUI done 2 days ago on Nov. 10th which is also my b-day. I'm hoping that God blesses me w/ the best gift of all! Like the rest of you who are in 2ww I too am already experiencing the rollacoster of emotions... trying to stay postive w/o getting my hopes too high. I only had one mature follicle. It was only 14mm so my docotor had me go home and do two more gonal injections over two days and then Sunday night he had me do a trigger shot which led me to the iui on tues. Nov. 10th. I'm really worried because I only had one mature follicle and it was only at 14mm on Friday, is it safe to assume that by Tueday w/ the additional two shots of gonal and trigger shot on Sunday night that it grew to 18-22mm? Also I only layed down for 10 minutes after the IUI was done is this long enough? Did any of you get pregnant with just one mature follicle? Sorry for all the questions but I am feeling overwhelmed and confused.

faith01, Happy Birthday. Usually without meds women do have only one egg that is mature size. So one is definatly OK. The size, I'm not sure about. When I did my IUI mine was 18 both times. After UIU it is recomended to lay down but is not necessary, so don't worry about that. Just stay positive and see what happens. Hopefully in two weeks it will all work out. Good Luck.

jennestrela, I did pick Follistim, so I'm starting on Sunday. I hope it will do the magic for me too. Gotta stay positive. Yesterday I was sad, but now after your story I feel better.

Altonette, you can definatly test 2 or 3 days before. The last few days are the worst for waiting. Good Luck.

Hello everyone. Today I had my ultra sound and I had 7 eggs that are mature, so my doctor said we can't do an IUI. The whole month goes to waste. I guess Folistim works well. :(

Hi, i am new to this forum and i had my first iui yesterday… i am now awaiting the two weeks.. and it is going by sooo slow.. i have severe pcos and i am 24 years old. Yesterday i had my first iui with injections after 3 failed cycles of clomid and trying on our own..any first time iui success stories would be great…… baby dust to all, hope the holidays bring you all a beautiful baby

Altonette congratulations! You would count from the first day of your last period.. that will tell you how many weeks along you are (the first 2 count although you weren't technically preggos) and 40 weeks from that day is your due date. olgakay0518 7 eggs?? Wow, they will probably lower your dose next month but see what I mean? Chlomid did nothing for me, Follistim gave me 2 good ones. Here's a tip for anyone doing IUI.. I had my 2 mature follicles, one matured to pregnancy and the other one burst the other day. It was the WORST PAIN EVER, I had no idea what was happening, thought I was losing the baby or something, had to call an ambulance. It started in my vaginal area then was very sharp in my side/back and lasted about 45 minutes. Just a heads up, I would hate for any of you to go through the same thing and be freaking out like I was. Wish someone gave me the heads up! Luck to all, happy thanksgiving ladies. I will be starting my 7th week on thanksgiving, I am VERY thankful for that! My beta level yesterday was a healthy 6500. Looking good!

elizabeth silva good luck! The wait sucks, I cheated and took a couple of home preg tests a few days before my dr. appt. I had success on my first try and also have pcos. It is possible, good luck!

Hi jennestrela, that's what I said 7 follicles!! I was suprised. And I only did follistim for 6 days (150, 150, 150, 75, 75, 66) Anyway my doctor called me late Friday and said that 2 of the 7 might not get mature on time and to stop follistim. He said it was OK to go for IUI. So I had 5 mature follicles, hopefully the other 2 didn't get ready. :) So I had my IUI this Sunday 11/22/09. I never really cramped with my first two IUI, but this one... cramping like crazy, was in bed all day yesterday. So hepefully #3 is my lucky number . Again congrats to you. :)

olgakay0518 - November 23

elizabeth silva, keep us posted on your results and good luck.

babysophy - November 23

olgakay0518, I had my second iui on Friday. I guess we are only two days apart. My first iui I had very bad cramps but this second one I hardly felt any cramps, I did bleed though. I had two mature follicles. I hope this one is the one. I wish you luck as well.
