Hey TK, I live in south Chicago. GL at you u/s tomorrow! My current dr wasnt planning on doing u/s, only the blood tests.I guess we will see whats gonna happen next huh? How long have you been TTC? Its almost 2 full years now in February. Yikes!

Also, does Clomid make you gain weight?

tk07 - December 29

thanks! i am in michigan, so we aren't too far! i have been ttc about a year, i had a m/c last april and my cycles never went back to normal, i was real regular before i got pregnant. it is all a wait and see ins't it!!! it can be frustrating taking clomid and doing the u/s and blood test every month and then no baby. but it will happen soon i hope! but you should ask the new Dr about the u/s because they are really helpful.
i haven't gained any weight at all on it, i have read some people say they did though. the only thing i really noticed was i am extra bloated after i ovulate than i was before i started clomid, probably because it bumped up my hormone levels so much. i have a bloating issue anyways though!
has the Dr done any other testing with you yet?

mindy1 , i do have 3 children. i had my tubes tied after my last one and regretted it very deeply. i had my tubal reversed in july of 06 and have been trying ever since. hopefully next year will be our year.

i have never heard of taking clomid that late in a cycle- most docs prescribe it for days 3-9 or so....i took mine days 5-9. i've never heard of taking it later.....most women have ovulated by CD17.....and the point of clomid is to stimulate more follicle growth which in turn produces more eggs (each follicle releases an egg). did your doc do a vaginal u/s first before prescribing? they should to check for cysts. they should also monitor you via u/s while on clomid, since cysts can develop or you can overstimulate, both are not good things. i had to sit out a cycle due to a cyst....if the doc wouldn't have done an u/s and saw it, the drugs would have made the cyst bigger and that is very dangerous. just seek a specialist and make sure they monitor you. i did gain weight on clomid- i was on it for 6 months though- 2 of those months with an IUI. i've since done 2 more IUIs (4 total)- the last 2 with injectables. plus i had a lap in october and the dye test and all the other testing....unexplained infertility. this is my 9th month on fertility meds and in treatment. in the 2WW now after my 4th IUI a week ago. when you see your new doc- definitely DEMAND monitoring- most docs should be doing it anyways......if the doc won't do it, i'd find someone else, for your own safety and peace of mind. a good RE will monitor- heck, even my OB/GYN monitored me with 2 u/s per cycle at least. she prescribed the first 4 months of clomid to me, then i switched to an RE after that didn't work. good luck

Hello ladies. my drs appt is set for january 4th, and if AF isnt gone by then I am def goning to make sure I bring that up to the new dr 1st as well as that I would like to have u/s done throughout the clomid. dh and I are getting semi- excited, as we really hope 2007 is our year, as well as yours!. TK- whatever happened with the U/S? Tonyandjoe- what year did you have your tubes ties? how long do they tell you it can take to start conceiving again? Tink- what are the symptoms of cysts? would I be able to feel it? Thanks Ladies!

Mindy1 - December 31

just bumpin this up a lil bit

tk07 - December 31

my u/s was good, it was a little early but she said everything looked good! i am probably going to O in a couple days.
hopefully your new Dr will be really helpful. happy new year everyone!!!

Mindy1 - January 1

Hey TK< Glad to hear your gonna O!!! Keep me posted on what happens. Do you use OPKS? They look too confusing for me. I would just BD every other day. Is it bad to do it every day?

tk07 - January 2

yes i do use opk's but i only started when my Dr told me to use them. i actually just got my + opk for this month so O should be here tomorrow or possibly wednesday. my Dr told me to have sex the day i get my +opk and then the next 2 days. so right at O i don't think it is bad to bd every day. i just try not to the days leading up so that we aren't burnt out!!! that is what i did the month i got pregnant anyways, the 2 days before and the day of O and it worked. i just haven't been able to get pregnant again!
if you want to use opk the thing i learned from missing the surge the first month was when it gets closer to O time test in the morning and at night, or you can miss it!

tonyaandjoe - January 2

i had my tubes tied after my last child in 96, which would be 10 yrs. we decided to have another baby, we had been praying for 6 yrs. before we decided to have them reversed. they didn't tell me how long it would take me to concieve. but they said i was doing good. we just had to find the right dose of clomid that i would respond to.so now we are going from cycle to cycle, hoping and praying that we will concieve.

tk07 - January 2

that is what i am doing too! hoping and praying the clomid will do its job.
but it think it will for me either this cycle or the next, there is no reason for it not to anyways. but at least you know you can have children and right now it is just sort of a wait and see. good luck!

Mindy1 - January 3

Hi All, thanks for the replies. Hope all is going well, so keep me posted as to what happens!! I keep having these very vivid dreams about getting pregnant, and today I have very sore breasts and very moody. It is CD 24, AF is STILL here, (Its been normal like this for the last 4-5 months) and its just down to mild spotting. I am guessing my AF is going away, not starting, but Maybe I am ovulating? Is that possible???? Maybe Ill go buy an OPK, but those things loook veryyyyyy confusing!! :) What do ya'll think?

tk07 - January 4

mindy, your Dr appt is tomorrow? good luck! i say wait and see what the Dr says before you get the opk's. i didn't start using them until my Dr told me to. they aren't confusing, it is real similar to a hpt, it just gives you different info!
i can't imagine having af for that long!!! how annoying! hopefully they find what is wrong and it is an easy fix and then you will be pregnant!
good luck!

Mindy1 - January 4

Thanks TK, I need all the support I can get. DH doesnt like it either. Im getting excited for the new dr appt (due to my changes in coverage I was forced) but its okay, my last doctor stunk. Hopefully this one turns out okay. How soon will u know when your pregnant when you start taking the clomid? is there a typical day when it will show a +? Thanks!

tk07 - January 4

hi! it is just like a regular cycle except you have a better idea of when you are ovulating and you know for sure if you do. so i have 2 weeks until i know!
i hope it is a happy january!
