Hi there ladies. Lyric, where are you located? (I think I have asked you this before - sorry). I am in Asheville, NC and we got quite a bit of snow last night. I tried to go to work but could not make it so I turned around and came home. I asked dh how much snow it would take for him to stay home from work and he said at least a foot - believe me I was praying it would snow at least 2 feet but it did not. Just enough to make it a mess. But it is still pretty. I have never taken clomid before - this is my 1st time. Lovemy3 what cycle day are you on? I am on day 5 and I thought were usually pretty close to each other.

Hey there. I am cd5 as well. Do you think tomorroww cd6 I could ask for a FSH test? Is there a big difference between cd3 and 6. I am about 1 and half hours from this dr that is downtown and it will be hard for me to drive back and forth just to do bloods.

Angelkitty, is this your first time on clomid? I couldn't remember. i only had headaches my first month. it wasn't until the second month on it that i got the cramping and hot flashes. lovemythree- just wanted to say hi! as always, we support whatever decision you make!! i don't think you are in menopause either, but perhaps see an endocrinologist to check your hormones out.....maybe your thyroid or something could be off causing some of those side effects. RAINBOW- yes, i always got very crampy after IUI. you have to remember, you have given your body hormones to produce more follicles....usually you only have one a month, so having multiple follies for an IUI is painful. i had severe bloating, cramping and pain, especially when i got into my 3rd and 4th IUIs with injectables. i was miserable. NO ibuprofen!!!! you should only take things you would take if you were pregnant. ONLY take tylenol. if you have a cold, you can take tylenol cold products. if your RE has prescribed baby aspirin you can take that. but no advil or aleve or anything. only tylenol!!! Lyric good luck on DH's S/A!! let us know how it goes. as for me- well not the 2WW yet....i just finished BCP and still doing 10 units of lupron shots. i have my baseline labs thursday and baseline u/s friday. AF should come this week. today is CD21. she comes 25 or 26 for me, and probably earlier due to the BCP and lupron. i start my stim shots on sunday! so i'll have 3 injections a night. then the retreival and transfer the week of valentine's day! i am thinking the timing might end up being that we are doing the ER on v-day!! lol....well at least i get 3-4 days bedrest between he ER and ET. wish us luck. this is our first IVF attempt. i hope i respond well to the drugs. i always have responded really well, so i hope it continues!

Hey all - thanks for the advice on the no Ibuprofen, I took it before my IUI on the advice of an outdated book about artificial insemination (UGH!!!) but hopefully will be okay since didn't take any since 2 hours before IUI. Did someone mention Clomid headaches, I've had those but I can't tell what's causing what because my sinuses are so dry right now, winter has finally found Maryland this year! I've finally started feeling "normal" after my HCG shot and now I start progesterone....here we go again on the rollercoaster ~~~~~~

Hi there ladies!! How is everyone? Tink, this is my 1st time on clomid. Honestly, I cannot tell that i am taking it other than a few twinges in my ovaries....does anyone know what the deal is with that? I have been taking it at night so I could hopefulyl sleep thru any side effects. Lovemy3, how are you? Rainbow, I think things will be ok but I would definitely stick to the tylenol. I have learned so much from these ladies - honestly, they have been more helpful than any doctor ever could b/c they have been there so to speak.

lovemy3 - January 30

Good morning, getting ready for my 1pm appt today. We'll see how it goes. I have definately come to the conclusion for sure that we will not pursue drugs or treatments like IVF etc. Our 3 will be perfect and enough and we are going to call it a day if its anything major, I hope its a matter of timing and thats it, we'll see. How are you all doing? Angelkitty, thats good you are not having pain etc isn't it? Or are you suppose to? Keep well.

Has anyone heard from Linds

lyric - January 30

HI Angel- I am in New Jersey. Good that you are taking them at night. My main symptom is hot flases. I feel like an old lady. lol I have to sleep w/ the window open and I am still hot. Rainbow- you should be fine but just tylenol for now on :). Well no news on the results yet...still waiting it's been 2 + weeks now. How long do they usually take?? any idea? I had them done at a hospital....

angelkitty - January 30

Lyric- the results should have been in by now. I would call the hospital and see if the lab has your results. It could not hurt.

Tink - January 30

Angelkitty- i didn't notice any side effects my first month on clomid. it was the second month and thereafter that it really started to mess with me. i guess it took a while to get into my system and start the trouble. i did get headaches, cramping and hot flashes. Rainbow- you should be fine, since you took it before the IUI- just stick with tylenol going forward- and good luck! lovemythree- congrats on reaching a decision. i really hope you get your 4th miracle though. i don't blame you for not wanting to pursue the treatment course, it is not an easy road to travel. i've been on it a year and now with doing IVF, i am at the end of the road and can only hope i get my miracle. i don't know what we will do after that. i want children, so i'll adopt or something if i have to. Lyric, definitely call on your test results! oh and i did hear from Linds on another thread.......it was not good news. she m/c from what I read. she is in my thoughts and prayers.

Hey Ladies, I see that you have all been pretty busy! I hope Linds is healing ok! This is so tough to deal with! I really do feel her pain! As I know many of you do! Lyric, you're in NJ and I'm in NY... not far at all! Call the hospital and find out what their malfunction is, LOL!!! As for me, I took my last bcp on Saturday eve, I have been on 20 units of Lupron and will start estrace tomorrow, 3 tablets twice a day. AF hasn't fully flowed yet although makes its presence known on tissue, sorry if tmi. When I went to the RE this morning she said the lining is prety much gone, there is still a little left, so I am thinking that maybe I will get a full flow for a day and then that'll be it. Weird! ET should be around the week of Valentine's Day!

Hi there. Saw my dr today and checked my FSH (on cd7), LH, TSH, cholestrol, HDL and LDL and DHEAS. The DHEAS is where I had issues 12 yrs ago. I was at a high weight and it wqas high and it came down with weight loss. He says that he is sure that my weight gain has messed up my hormones. He said I am surgimng every month and getting a positive OPK but not having mature ones that actually release. He said that androgen something or other is the cause of this. He said that these hormones are stored in fat cells and can be elevated in people overweight and these hormones are preventing me from ovulating, although I show a surge. he feels it would be unlikely I am menopausal. Does this sound like PCOS to you? He didn't call it that. So bottom line is he has sent me to a dietician and gave me more forms to give more blood as I lose weight. he told me to continue to lose weight until August and if I'm not pregnant by August he will refer me to an RE, that is rihgt beside him. He says hes "sure" its weight related. I will be very curious to see my test numbers especially my FSH. Will it be falsly high or low on CD7. What do you all think? I asked for blood forms for cd21 test and he said lose the weight and if there is no progress in a few months he will send me for ythem. he says he is very cnfident its weight related. I don't know what to think. What do you all think?

lovemy3 - January 30

Oh ya and he strongly advised me against trying clomid because of multiples and my previous pregnancy issues (severe preeclamsia, diabetes and 3 scars ion my uterus) He says multiple birth could be very serious because of my history and said no reputable dr would prescribe me it cuz of my past. So thats that I suppose. Any opinions and adivice? Hope you are all well. xoxox

angelkitty - January 31

Lovemy3 - I told you I did not think you were menopausal!!!!! I remembered you saying you wanted to lose weight and I have read that weight gain can cause fertility issues. I think he may be right. I am so excited for you!!!!!! This is so cool. I have all ideas that when you get to where you want to be you will end up pregnant!!!! Yippie!!!!!! I am so excited for you!!!!!!

Thanks Angelkitty you are so sweet! Heres a God question for you. When I went in to see him today the conversation started out on the basis of my maternal age being older now then 2 yrs ago when I last had an appt. We discussed Downs and that we wouldn't terminate etc. he then brought up an issue that he said needs to be thought about prior to conception. He told dh and I about a chromo. problem called trisomy 21. he said that most of those babies die in utero but some may live as ,long as 1 month but they do not survive, bottom line. he is a Fetal medicine Specialist and this is his thing. So, he says to me. At 12 weeks you take a test, blood test, for this. If it comes back positive and is then confirmed 100% by amnio he strongly advises to "terminate". I objected to that and he said that the baby would not survive past a month 100%. he called it "fact" and because also carrying this type of baby with placental issues would have a direct impact on my health because of my past preeclampsia issue in regards to my liver and kidneys shutting down. (I get quite sick). he then said that my uterus is thin and that my 4th c-section is risky and that if I chose to carry to term a baby that would not survive and go to give birth via c-section (which it would be) that I am risking my life A) because of the 4 c-section for a baby that won't survive and B) because carrying this type of baby with this certain issue will affect my organs. Not everyones but because I have this underlying preexisting condion that happens it could be "fatal" for me. So he said that if we continued with this pregnancy IF I had a baby with this, my c-section would be for a non-surviving baby, it would have to be my last as its my 4th and my uterus is thin already and also throughout my pregnancy the dying aby would trigger my preeclampsia to a severe stage. His words "possibly fatal". So, he said before we continue to ttc we need to know what we would do if this situation should arise. the probablity at age 38 is 1/200 he said. I could never terminate for just Downs etc but his point is that i would be leaving my other 3 motherless and husband wifeless for a baby that has 0%. My first thought is to me God decides who is born and when they die, not me. And the dr's thing is that "terimanting at 12 weeks means no cutting of my uterus and no chance of the placental issues arising. But if you chose to wait it out till God handled it, I would need the c-section and would suffer the consequences of the placental issues and the effects on me. he actually said it could be fatal. My dh who is a believer said right off the hop, well "of course we would terminate if the chance was 0 for baby and it could kill my wife" I was actually shocked and have been thinking about it all night. I would love to hear your opinion as a fellow Christian. I also hope I don't offend anyone with my opinions about this. Every women needs to make the choice they feel is right etc. I am just struggling with this tonight and was hoping you guys may have an opinion, but lioke I said, I hope no one is offended in any way. hugs.
