Like others I was on the depo, had 3 shots and bled the whole time I was on it. I was due to have my next shot last week and I've stopped bleeding. Me and my partner are going to start trying for a baby, but now I'm worried the depo has effect my fertility. I also think it should be banned, or at least doctors to give you the full facts!!!!

I have been on deepo for about 5 years and my doctor advised me to get on the pill after stopping depo, to make my periods regular to become fertile.

I have been on depo about 1 or 2 years. I should have had another shot in December 2004 and came off it to try for a baby. I had 2 what I thought were normal periods in Feb/March2005 although very late. Now i have bled for nearly 3 weeks with no sigh of it ending. The nurse told me that because I was bleeding my body was back to normal and I should conceive soon. Has anyone been told the same.

After my first pregnancy I was on depo for 13mos. It took 5 months to conceive that time. I consider myself very lucky because my cycle was so irregular. I didn't even know I was pregnant for two months! We are now trying for baby #3 and it's been another five months since I went off the shot and nothing yet. I know how frustrated you are, but my ob/gyn did warn me that it can take up to 18mos to conceive. As far as health while on the shot, I've always felt fine, much better than I did when I was on the pill. I was also breastfeeding the entire time, so I never had a period which was great! (Until you want one!) Good luck!

I am surprised at how many women want the shot banned. When you first get the shot there is an entire information booklet that should be given to you about it's effectiveness, side effects and conceiving after stopping the shot. If this info was not provided to you, talk to your doctor, not the makers of the drug (which, by the way is very similar to any other hormonal birth control). It is up to us women to be knowledgable about what we put into our bodies!

It has been over 3 years and I still have not been able to get pregnant after the depo.

Just give it time the doctors tell me.

Well after 2 years of trying and 1 year of Clomid I finally ovulated for the first time this month.

I wish you the best of luck.

i have been on the shot for about 4 years and after the first 2 years of the shot, i gained 45 lbs. i was weighing 135 at one point and now i weigh 180. LAWSUIT

my cousin got pregnant while on depo. she didn't even know she was pregnant until her 5th month because the depo made her not get her periods and by her 5th month she started to gain a lot of weight.

I have 2 kids. One's 5 and the other is almost 1. Me and my husband tried so hard to have my 1 yr old. and nothing as soon as we stopped trying I got pregnant I think its the stress of trying. So just stop thinking about having sex as a way to get pregnant and just have fun you'll be prego in no time.

I agree with Teresa. My doctor clearly informed me of weight gain, irregular periods, and increased "sleepiness" when I asked about the shot. Then after being on it a year (i've been married a year) she asked me if children were in the picture. I told her yes but not in the immediate future. She advised me to go home and talk to my husband about when we wanted to get pregnant because it could take anywhere from 4-36 months to conceive. I was fully aware of the side affects and risks before I took depo. I can't see sueing a company for something they've already disclosed.

i was on depo for 5 1/2 years my periods came back after 6 months i went back on it for 1 year and im now pregnant without trying i think most of it is due to stress and fate! lawsuits will not help you all information on depo comes in a information leaflet
