Unable to complete HSG test

My husband and i have been trying to get pregnant for over a yr now. I have 2 children from my previous marriage. (No problems with conceiving) i went in for an HSG and the doctor was unable to preform the test due to cervix "too big" and they did not have the right size of catheter at that time. they tried about 3 times and it kept on coming out. he said this is normal since i've had children, but my children are 15 and 12yrs. Has anyone else experienced this?
