So ladies what are my chances? I have a 8.3 FSH and the Dr. said as of CD3, I only have 5 Resting Follies. This is my first time doing IVF, I have no idea on what to do or expect. Do they give me medication to increase the amount of Follies I produce? Can anyone explain, what I'm in for....BABY DUST TO ALL OF YOU~

I wouldn't be too worried, since it was only cd3. Did you start meds on cd3 as well? Just wait to see what your next u/s shows, and the dr can increase your dose if it looks like you will need more stimming.

Ann1, this thanks for your advice. I haven't started any meds...don't know what is in store for me. I'm seeing the Dr. tommorow. So have you done IVF Ann1? I believe they'll do more b/w and u/s soon, to see where I"m at in my cycle? Baby dust to you~

I was just about to do ivf when I turned up pg on a natural cycle in June. I was days away from having a hysteroscopy to shave fibroids then I was on to ivf as soon as I healed from surgery. Prior to that, I did 7 iuis (5 clomid and 2 injectibles). In the 2 rounds of injectibles, the protocol was similar to the ivf protocol. Plus, I tend to over reasearch, so I read a lot about ivf. I have talked to several others that have done ivf, and some of them ended up with more follies than it looked like they would have at first. How old are you, if you don't mind my asking? Also, when you had your fsh tested, did you do it in conjunction with the clomid challenge test? Were your estradiol and inhibin-B normal?

Hi Ann1, well congrats on you pg!!!!
That's wonderful...
Excuse me for my ignorance but I don't know what my est or inhib levels were.
I was not on clomid, during this FSH b/w...and I am 35. You sound like you really know alot about this stuff, that's great!

I have fsh issues, so I have done a ton of reading. Sometimes if your estradiol or inhibin-b are off that can also indicate an ovarian reserve issue. The fsh is most important, though. The clomid challenge test is where they test your fsh on cd3 and then they retest you on cd10 after you take clomid in between the tests. The clomid makes your fsh rise, and if your body is functioning optimally, it will keep your fsh low. In other words, you can get a false "good" result on cd3 and the clomid can expose that. Plus, your fsh fluctuates every month. I had done 2 fsh tests and they both came out in the 5s. Then I did the clomid challenge test and come to find out my fsh is 12.9. That being said, you are already moving on to ivf, so no matter what your number is you are getting the best, most agressive treatment. What is your next step in the ivf process? I am sure it will probably work for you. It seems to work so well for almost everyone.

Ann1, I am doing the clomid challenge test right now ( I am on 100 mg cycle 5-9) and I am on CD 7, so two more days of clomid. However, I have an appointment to have my blood drawn on Friday (which is cycle day 9) and that is my last day for clomid this cycle. Do you think that will screw with my FSH results-it being one day earlier?

Ann1 - September 6

linds, No, I don't think a day would matter. If it is going to drive your fsh up, you probably have taken it long enough for that to happen. What was your cd3 number?

linds99 - September 6

She didn't tell me what my cd3 number was. I will find out on Friday when I get a chance to talk to her for the test. I'm so nervous for some darn reason that my FSh will be high. I have PCOS and I am 29 years old and have been thinking about all the eggs that went to waste for the last several years I didn't even know.

Ann1 - September 6

linds, since you are only 29, don't worry about your fsh. It is pretty unlikely that you have an issue with that--possible but not likely at all.

Hi Ann1, well I haven't started IVF just yet...I have to wait for this AF..and than I will be put on the pill for a week...than Superfact, than Follisim. I will be monitored, and once I"m ready they do the egg retrevial...and days later the transfer. I'm actually going to be doing ICSI and assitant hatching as per the Dr. He wants to be aggressive with the whole approach.
