Femara

How long does it take to get pregnant using Femara? I am about to take it for the first time and am just wondering about the outcome. I have taken Clomid for the last year and a half without success. The Dr. told me that it wasn't because of any internal problems that he could see but that it was because of my body not ovulating a good portion of the time. Clomid didn't really help me at all. My Dr. has told me that the way for me and my husband to go is using Femara and having AI done. What are the odds that this will work if Clomid didn't at all?

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am new here. I want so badly to have a baby that any new info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would guess that it is different for everybody. It worked for me. I had a bunch of non-drug IUIs got preg and m/c. When I hadn't gotten pregnant again after several more IUIs, I tried Clomid and IUIs for 3 months and it didn't work and Femara and IUI worked the 2nd month. Good pregnancy that time and I had a dd. She's 2 and I'm thinking about going back to the doctor and trying for No. 2 (0 chance without IUI) Were you on the Clomid every month for the year and a half? If so, you may have some uterine lining issues and it may have to thicken back up before anything will take. Femara does not thin the uterine lining like Clomid does - so with my doctor- you either switch to Femara after 3 months or take a break from Clomid for a month or 2 and then go again. My doctor says he sees a lot more Femara babies than Clomid at his office, but he always tries the Clomid first as it is the standard. I had much fewer side effects with Femara even though I really didn't have that many with the Clomid. Good luck.

K... I was on clomid for a year and six months until last August. I started my first year of teaching and didn't want the severe mood swings that clomid gave me. I have been off of clomid or anything until Feb of this year and I took clomid one more time to see if I would ovulate after the break from taking it. I didn't. So I went to see my Dr. and he told me about Femara. I am currently taking progesterone so that I will start my period. It was about a week and a half late for whatever reason and I am not pregnant (took two tests). After the progesterone I should start and then I will take the Femara. I am just praying that it works. I was an emotional mess for the first year that I took clomid because I wanted a baby so badly. Now I am just praying for a miracle. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.
