BAF - April 19

Hoping for a BFP on or around 5/4/06. Anyone want to join me on the 2WW and share stories? I've been TTC for going on 18 months w/2 early MC.

Cloe - April 19

I will join you BAF. I am on CD 14 right now. My AF is due around the same time as yours!

Tracy88 - April 20

I am currently on cd12, but ovulating as we speak, so I will be right behind you guys in the TWW. I have been TTC for a year and half, I am 36, and so far, they have found nothing wrong with me. I have no kids, but know I can get PG. I just started seeing a new doctor last week, and have an appointment with him before my next cycle starts to discuss our options and plan for May. BAF--sorry about those MC's. I had one once, so I can relate. BUT, you just keep on keepin on!!!!

Hi ladies! I wll join you too! dh and I have been ttc since september 2005. I am on cd 10 and really cloe to O, and I am doing IUI this time around! Testing shows nothing wrong with me, other than I may not have been Oing every month on my own. I am on my 3rd cycle of Clomid. anyone else on clomid or doing IUI?

Tracy88 - April 21

Tonia, I did three cycles of clomid before moving to my new doctor. I will probably be doing clomid or injectibles with IUI's next cycle. This month we are going au naturale; med free. Fat chance I'll get pg, but always a possibility. Today is cd14 for me, but already ovulated, so the TWW begins! When does your cycle end???

Cloe - April 21

I have been trying to conceive for over 2 years. My doctor saw that I was not ovulating, so he put me on 50 mg of Clomid. I responded well, so I have taken 6 cycles of Clomid. I am on the 6th cycle now, on CD16. I have an appointment on May 4, to discuss the next step if I am not pregnant this cycle.

Hi, I want to join you also! I am on CD 11 so a little bit behing. I have been TTC about 14 months. On my 3rd cycle of clomid and just had a normal HSG on Tues. Expecting AF on 5/13- hopefully she'll be a no show! Good luck everyone!

BAF - April 21

Hi ladies! Glad you'll be joinin me in the 2WW. I think I am o'ing today. Best of luck to you all! Dumb question, but what is IUI?

tonia - April 22

Hey Tracy! I am cd 12 and went for an u/s for follicles today and I have a 4 coming along........17, 13, 11, and 11 so I am thinking i will O by Monday! then I will be in for IUI :) So i am a little behind you! BAFan IUI is an Intrauterine insemination. The doctor takes your dh's "washed" sperm and injects it directly into your uterus at O time. It gives you a higher chance of concieving. Washing sperm is when they take your dh's sperm and seperate it from all protiens, semen and all sperm that is slow, mis-shapen, or dead, leaving only the perfect sperm to be injected inside your uterus so they have a better chance of meeting your egg!

Well said Tonia. Welcome everyone...the more the merrier! My TWW just started and I am already getting impatient. I just want to see the doctor already to determine what I will be doing starting in May. What really drives me crazy about this whole process is that there is nothing wrong with me or my husband. I hate the fact that I have to put my body through all kinds of medications just to conceive. Patience is tested month after month with the dreaded TWW. Well, here we go again. I'm glad to have so many people to share this with; it really helps time pass. Loads of luck to everyone this month!

Tonia, congrats on those follies. Glad to see you are being monitored while on clomid. I was not monitored and it still drives me crazy not knowing why it did not work for me. Perhaps my lining was too thin for implantation.....I'll never know. The only thing I do know is that I had high day21 progesterone levels, and that the doctor said I responded very well to the medication. Post-coital test came back great, and HSG was perfect. I have since changed doctors, which is why I am waiting a couple of weeks to find out our new plan.

BAF - April 22

Tracy88, I took Clomid for 4 months and was not monitored at all! I had no luck and took myslef off it. I'm now using natural progesterone cream to treat my LPD. Is that normal for a dr not to monitor at all? Good luck Tonia!

charity - April 22

I will join as well. I am on cycle day 20 right now - 5 dpo and anxiously awaiting the BFP. GOOD LUCK TO US!

You should NEVER take Clomid without being monitored by a doctor for many reasons. It is a very powerful drug that can be very helpful but only if you are in the right situation. First of all, you need to know that you are not ovulating, or that you have a short luteal phase. It is suppose to induce ovulation. So, if you are already ovulating, it cannot help you, but it can fix a luteal phase defect. Once you start the Clomid, usually at 50 mg the doctor needs to do blood work to determine if that dose did get you ovulating. A blood progesterone test can be done to see if you have ovulated. This test is done about a week before your period is due. If you didn't ovulate then your dose will likely increase to 100 mg, and if that doesn't work 150 mg. The doctor has to know that it is working. Also, FSH should be tested to determine the health of your ovaries. Taking Clomid actually ages your reproductive system and your doctor should be aware of the FSH number before starting the Clomid. Clomid can cause ovarian cysts, hot flashes, and even blurred vision. If I were you I would get another doctor that is willing to take the time to do the workup on you. I wish you and everyone else here lots of luck and babydust. :)

BAF, as far as the monitoring goes, every doctor is different. I was ultimately not comfortable with the guy I was seeing, as he was just an OB doing my infertility work-ups, but most RE's and fertility specialists do monitor. I always had a day21 progesterone test to see if and how well I ovulated, but look where that has gotten me....nowhere. I have started seeing a highly recommended fertility specialist who monitors everything. I saw him for the first time about a week ago, so in about a week I will see him again to know what we will do this coming cycle. Since clomid did not work for me, I think we are on to a cycle or two of injectibles with IUI.

Cloe - April 23

Currently all I have is an OB doing my fertility workup, but here in Canada, we have no choice. You have to start there, and the OB refers you to the fertility clinic after completing his workup. The waiting list is very lengthy to get into an RE, so I am comfortable starting with the OB because I have a better chance ttc than on my own. I guess it is better than no help.

Cloe - April 23

To get to the OB, you have to start with the GP!
