Femara for pregnancy

Pumpkinjr, I took femera also and I don't think that it matters if you bd before or during, because you aren't going to "o" on cd3-7 thats usually way to early. You need to after probably focusing on cd10-16 and maybe even after, just in case you "o" late. Are you taking the trigger shot too? I did and I got pregnant my first cycle. I'm probably going to have to do it again. Good luck!

Hi
I'm new to this forum. My husband and I have been trying for 2 years. I was put on chlomid and had great responses( up to 5 eggs), but this did not lead to getting pregnant. I am now seeing another specialist who told us that we have lots of options since they could not find anything wrong with me and my husband. He decided to put me on the femara instead of doing any invitro. This will be my first month on it. I am hoping that the femara will work.

I am currently on my 2ww after my first "go" with femara. I've been through 3 cycles using clomid. All cycles created healthy eggs, and my lining was fine (10 the first 2 times and 9 the second). The largest egg I produced was 18 (mm I guess), and one cycle I produced 2 eggs. I am taking the trigger shot of hcg, but I still have not conceived. The doctor wanted to move me to injectables, but the cost is overwhelming ($700 to $1500 a month - whew!). So, he is letting me try femara this time. My egg measured much larger than usual (24) and my lining was 10, so we'll see.

P.S. I have conceived 3 times with no help from clomid or femara, but all 3 ended in m/c.

Hi Ladies it's so nice to find a group of people that understand what your going through!!! I started my first dose of Femara yesterday which was cycle day 3, I take them for 5 days. No real side effects yet but I am a little tired. On the 28th I start injections of Follistim as well. Then I go back to my RE on the 31st for a US and Blood work to see how things are progressing preparing for trigger and IUI. I am really nervous about Multiples and hope that I don't have to cancel this cycle. I don't have PCOS and I was wondering how sucessful this has been for the first cycle. I don't have alot of money but am desperate to have a family with my hubby hope it works the first time! I'll keep you all in my prayers. Sending tons of baby dust your way!

We have been TTC since October 2007, I was on the pill for about 6 years and have been off the pill for one year. Ever since being off the pill, I have only gotten my period twice. We found out a little over a month ago that I have Polycystic ovaries, which explains the no period thing. I don't have any other symptons of PCOS. Last month my doctor put me on metmorfin and the pill again for one month just to regulate the hormones & so I would get a period. On Monday I started taking Femara 2.5 mg 2 pills a day for days 3-7 and Friday was the last day. I go back to the doctor on Monday to have a ultrasound and see if the Femara worked in making an egg =) We are very nervous and excited. I haven't had any side affects from the Femara, but the Metmorfin gives me horrible side affects like cramping, diarhea, loss of appetite ect. Good luck to every body I wish you and your families all the best, it is comforting to know there are other people going through the same thing my husband and I are!

I have conceived two naturally and very quickly. This time around, my hormones are off, and we have been trying for 6 months almost. Our first two passed away at one month and two months of age, and so we really want a baby. I took Provera to start and took my first cycle of Femara on cycle day 3 through 7. I am on day 22, and will take a pregnancy test in 6 days. I had a blood test yesterday to check for hormone levels, and will get results back today. So now it is just waiting to see! Wish me luck!

My doctor orginally put me on Metaformin and Femara. However the Metaformin made me sick(I have Ulcerative Colitis and made me sick to my stomach somthing awful) I did not start my period last moth so I was given Provera and started taking the femara last week 1st cycle. HAs anyone gotten pregnant just by taking the Femara and Provera? I am so afriad to get my hopes up but the success stories by all you ladies sure help!

I also have just been put on Femara by my fertility Doc. I had a Hydrosalpinx (blocked tube) which was removed in October. My doctor seems to think that within the 6 months of me taking Femara i will get pregnant?? I am dubious as in 10 years of trying (I am 32) I have never been pregnant. I have my fingers crossed!! Has anybody else been through the same surgery and had any luck with Femara?

CourtneyHope - December 3

I did not have the surgery, but I am 24 1/2 weeks prego with our femara baby. I was just not ovulating or having a period at all, and my dr put me on femara. I took it for a month, then it didnt' work, so my dr doubled my dose....sure enough we got a BFP!!! I wish you the best of luck, and hope it works out for you!

I have been taking Femara, Metanx, and Metformin, (2000 mg) for about 6 months. I stopped taking the Metformin because the side effects were terrible. I had a laproscopy and they found my fallopian tubes were blocked. They unblocked them and 4 months later I was pregnant. I miscarried at 10 1/2 weeks. The DR says your next 3 cycles you are more likely to conceive, but for me, my cycle was very irregular. 8 months later I've only had 4 cycles and have been on Femara, Metanx, and Metformin and no luck. But I do think Femara works and I have had no side effects at all. I am still taking the Metformin, even though the side effects are bad, and I have faith that soon I get pregnant again. Good luck to everyone... God Bless!

Hi Everyone, I am new to the site and enjoyed reading everyone's experiences as they relate to mine as well. I am 25 y/o and my husband is 26 y/o. We have been trying to conceive for about a year. He is healthy, but I have PCOS. I am seeing a RE and he has told me that I am not ovulating. He has put me on 1500mg of Metformin per day. Currently, I am taking Prometrium to stimulate AF and will take Femara on cycle days 7-11. I wish everyone the best. I just hope and pray that this works!!!

tooth fairy - January 29

Does anyone know the best days to take Femara? Cd 3-7 or cd 5-9?

Misschiff - February 9

Tooth Fairy... whatever your doctor recommends. Mine syas days 3-7

I am new here. I am currently 45 --almost 46 ys old. I have had a history of breast cancer and was diagnosed right about the time my DH and I wanted to start TTC. I had to wait 5 years before considering pregnancy and even then some doctors advised against it. (to avoid reoccurance or the estrogen-positive cancer). That was back in 1999. We have since been TTC since about 2005/6. One year and a bit naturally, then about 1-2 yrs through a fertility clinic. I was on clomid and we occassionall could afford an IUI. I could not take injections due to the risk of a reoccurance of cancer. Since then. we took a year off and then I decided to switch to a new doctor. He has put me on Femara days 3-7- starting with my first cycle last month.

I am also seing an Endo Dr. b/c I am over weight and borderline Diabetic T2 so I started taking 2x 550 Metformin. This past cycle was the first time I didn't ovulate. Also, last month follicles were small. I have been experiencing really bad hot flashes since I started taking the meds and don't know if its the drugs or (God forbid) I am entering menopause. I think the flashes are too severe to be menopause because its more sudden than natural hot flashes would be. Considering I didn't ov and I am flashing I bet my estrogen is low. I am worried. I will try again next month but we seem to have so much against us
1. I am over 40! (you know what that means)
2. We have been trying for 4 years
3. Hubby has some nuerolical health issues that may be affecting his fertility issues (we are trying to see what we can do with tests)
4. I havent many options due to history of breat cancer
5. I am overweight (and trying desperately to change that too)

I am tired of people saying to me "You can always adopt". I wanna say... No, not really. It's not that easy and not everyone "qualifies" but thanks anyway. In my heart I "believe" we still have a chance, but emotions often get the better of me and statistics are not in my favour. We truly need a miracle and a ton of prayers. Any advice is also welcome :)

Thanks to everyone for sharing!
