I am a single woman in my 30's ttc with a sperm donor, using IUI. I have been diagnosed with PCOS and now am taking metforin and will be starting my 1st round of Clomid. I always wanted the whole picture, happy husband, lots of children. However the husband has never materialized and I can not envision my life never having experienced the joys of motherhood. I am financially stable, and I am surrounded by a supportive and loving extended family. I was only wondering, are there other women out there like me? Is anyone else choosing motherhood even though they are single? The struggle with infertility has been an emotional one. As the time nears for me to begin a round of Clomid, I find myself nervous and second guessing my decision. However in talking to my sister-in-law, she said she felt the same uneasiness when she decided to become pregnant the “old fashioned way.” I hope to sympathetic ear, as I am nervous and excited all at the same time!!! Is there anyone out there?

I started my 1st round of Clomid today, after getting the all clear on my "3rd cycle day" ultrasound." The friday after T-day the Dr. is going to look at my follicles. I am so nervous, and excited at the same time!!!

Tammy, I am not in your situation, but I wanted to take the time to commend you for your actions. It's so great to see strong women refusing to alter their dreams. I hope you remain strong and things work out for you soon. All the best!

Hey, maybe you will be lucky enough to have twins? I'm sitting here reading your story and I can only imagine how hard having PCOS and battling infertility can be doing it alone. You must be very strong. I have PCOS too and it is hell going through the infertility, sometimes I feel alone, despite having a spouse, who can only do so much to make me feel better. Anyway, I just want to say you found a great outlet here on the forum to get support from us, despite our varying situations. I think being a single mom will be hard, but I think you are right, it will be well worth it, you have a lifetime of happiness with a child.

tammy click on the thread on here that says iui and sperm donor #6. i know there is one girl on there that is doing it alone. there are also a few other girls on there including myself that can give you support and help you out when you have questions. i am using a donor even though i am married. it was actually my husbands idea because he has a sperm issue and instead of wasting money trying to fix him he decided that money would be well spent just going ahead with a donor. i got pregnant the 2nd cycle only to have to terminate due to it being a tubal. we get to try again in dec and are hoping that the christmas spirit will be the time that we have a lucky cycle. i took clomid 50 mg days 3-7 and had hcg trigger shot when follicles were between 20-25 then the iui 2 days later. this will be my 3rd iui. they are painless, so dont worry too much about that. there may be some mild cramping afterwards nothing serious and may be some spotting again nothing serious. it feels pretty much like a pap. the only thing is i had some mood swings on clomid and some hot flashes but it will be worth it if i get pregnant again. good luck to you.

Hello Tammy, I understand your anxiety. I was there before. I was very worried at the thought of infertility treatments and put it off for nearly 5 years. When I saw I was losing time, my husband and I felt we had no choice but give it a try. I was eligible for 3 IUIs with insurance, so we started in May this year. I was prescribed 50mg clomid and injectibles (75 IU Follistm). First 2 IUIs failed but the third one, which was the last cycle worked. I am now in the 6th week. So I guess in the end, it will all be worth it. I am so glad we tried else we would'be still been at a point where pregnancy would've been a distant dream for us. Good luck and believe that you will have a baby and you will.

Thanks for the words of encouragement ladies!! I am new to this site, but I am so grateful to find a community of such supportive women. Clomid is giving me terrible headaches, but it will all be worth it soon, (knock on wood). Good Luck and baby dust to all.
