Metformin - does it affect your temps??

Hi everyone. I have a question. I recently started metformin for pcos (over a week ago). I got a positive opk (this is the first time I got a +. Always a negative so this was exciting!) on CD 11 (which was before I started the metformin). This past Sunday I started bleeding, which is 7dpo - I thought this could possibly be implantation bleeding. Then my temperature shifted into a triphasic pattern. I am wondering if this really could possibly be happening and I may be pregnant or could this be an affect of the metformin? I do have other symptoms that could are promising - sore boobs, tired, the spotting, dizziness, etc. If you would like to check out my chart on fertility friend the address is: http://www2.fertilityfriend.com/home/63973 I have never had a triphasic chart before or spotting at this spot in my cycle. Does anyone have any insight as to what might be going on? I am currently 12 dpo and on cd22. Thanks! :)

SOUNDS PROMISING! NOT SURE IF METFORMIN AFFECTS BBT--DON'T THINK SO. I'D REQUEST A P4(PROGESTERONE BLOODTEST) TO SEE IF YOUR PROGESTERONE IS HIGH ENOUGH TO SUSTAIN PREGNANCY. HOPE THAT HELPS AND GOOD LUCK

Thanks, my temps were still high again this morning! I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Let me know if you get a BFP---I'm in a similiar situation. I'm 5 dpo and I began taking the Metformin the day after ovulation and my temps look good-I'd love to see it go triphasic. I'm having my P4 test on Monday morning to confirm ovulation. Are you having any side effects from the Metformin--what is your dosage?

Did the fertility friend website detect implantation? When are you going to test?

jamie- i'm on metformin about 2 or 3 weeks ago. only 500mg once a day. i have pcos. anyways i've having the same thing sore boobs, tired, gassy, heavy feeling sitting on my uterus. also my normal temp is around 97.4-97.7 and its been lately 98.3-98.6. so i was wondering the same thing. i really haven't had any spotting but i was wondering could i actually be pregnant after all this time or is it a side effect from the medication. I started taking mine on the 30th. my last period was august 19th. i'm testing on sunday hopeing thats enough time to see if i'm prego or not.

Yes, fertility friend detected the implantation and the triphasic pattern. I am currently at 12dpo today. I think I will wait until 18dpo.... that is when fertility friend suggests to test. I am glad we are in the same boat! Steph, let us know your results... I haven't had any side effects from metformin, maybe a little upset stomach if I don't eat when I take it. Thanks for the support ladies!

BBT slightly down today for you--but still way above coverline. Hopefully you'll get a BFP this month! How are you feeling?

Jamie - September 18

Thanks for asking! I still feel funny - gassy, sore bbs, tired, upset stomach, appetite off. I took a hpt today and it was negative which isn't surprising because my period isn't expected for another two days... might still be too early to tell. Let me know what you find out tomorrow on your test.

Kerri - September 18

Hopefully that was just too early to test-how long have you been ttc? I'll increase my Metfomin dosage to 1000 tomorrow...praying for no side-effects and hoping that my progesterone level is good.

Kerri - September 18

Oh yeah...Stef, do you have BFP news yet?

Jamie - September 19

Yeah steph you're keeping us in suspense here!! Kerri - we have been trying to conceive for over a year now, how about yourself? This morning I didn't get to sleep until after 2:30 and I kept waking up every hour. I take my temp at 6:30 so of course it was way off today - I am not even going to bother to chart it... I started spotting again today, just only when I wipe and brown in color (sorry if tmi!). I also have mild cramps, but they feel different than my normal cramps. I cannot explain it but it doesn't feel the same. I guess we will wait and see what happens - maybe my af is right around the corner. But then again I never spot like this right before it is expected....

I've been off the pill since November--just found out that I have PCOS this past July and my dh has some low sperm count--but I think that he was under a lot pressure and stress when he did the test. My periods usually range between 32-48 days hopefully the Metformin will help regulate me and reduce my testosterone and androgen levels--a little weight loss would be nice too. I'm 7 dpo and just feel a little bloated and loss of appetite. That could be from the Metformin...only been on it a week. Ummm...spotting again...not sure what that means. Hopefully af won't show up b/c you're chart looks very +

Jamie - September 19

Well maybe we will both be getting bfp! I just keep thinking af will show up - I guess it is being so used to the let down every month. We will see what tomorrow brings.

jamie/kerri- good morning. I've been gassy and sore boobs now for about a week. I took a hpt and it was negative but i don't actually know when i ovulated. this is my first month on it. so i wasn't ovulating on my own. my last bleeding so to say from the medication was the 19th of august from provera. But i didn't actually start taking metformin until the 30th to start making me ovulate. so i'm guessing that i just ovulated last week. so now would be too soon to test again. i've been sick to my stomach for the past 24hrs but that might be the flu bug going around. Some minor cramping but thats about it. i spotted twice last weekened? I wish you guys luck. i've alot of good things about this medication and helping people like us to get pregnant. i'll keep you posted. i'll take another test probabaly next weekend to give it enough time providing my AF doesn't show up. Good luck to everyone and please keep your fingers crossed for me.

kerri-I've been off of my b/c pills since janurary. I was diagnoised with pcos july of this year too. My periods also range b/w 32-48 days! This is my first month taking metformin. i've been ttc with no luck. so maybe this will help??? I know i tested too soon so i'll have to wait and see. my temp this morning was at 98.5. its still high and has stayed there now for a week? Who knows????my normal temp is b/w 97.4 - 97.6.

Jamie - September 19

Well ladies my af showed up this morning, which of course does not make me happy! :( I guess I have to look on the bright side - it is my first period on my own since January! I definitely think the metformin is working! I called the doctor to see what the next step is - he is supposed to call me back. At my last appointment he said that we would start clomid again (I didn't take it this month as we were trying to determine why I wasn't ovulating). I am a little excited, maybe if this metformin is working, this next month my chances will be even greater! Kerri, did you get your results from your tests? Steph - good luck, your symptoms sound promising! Keep the faith ladies - **baby dust**
