lifequest... I can't be a cycle buddy for you. But I was wondering if you would mind me asking how you got to this point of using Follistim? I have done 3 cycles of Clomid of various strengths and lengths of time and my CD 24 progesterone has only ever gotten as high as 2.3!!! The nurse at my RE's office said last time that if that cycle was a bust, then we'd move on to other things. I am expecting injectibles, but I don't know for sure. I would be interested in your story! *lots of baby dust to you*

Hi TracyR. Well let me tell you alittle about myself. I'm from Canada. I'm 35. TTC for the last 2-3 years. Finally this Feb. I went to see a fertility specialist, who firtst did all kinds of test and said it was probably my linining that wasn't thick enough, to "hold" the egg. Well he put me on Progestrone Sup. 2x/dy. Said it should work, within the first 3 months. Ok...3 months later, and nothing. I went back and told him he had to be abit more aggressive, since now I already wasted 3 more months. He than told me to do cycle monitoring, with injectables of Follistim (but in Canada we use Puregon)....I started using that on day 5 (150IU), after having my bloodwork and ultrasound done.,this continued ever day, until day 11, when he gave me a HCG shot. I returned the next two days and my DH had a spermwash done, which I had IUI with. Now I've been asked to just take the progestrone once again, 2x/dy. until July6, when I go for BETA. ( I had 2 good follicles in the end, that I'm hoping did the trick). And that's my story..all the best to you & lots of baby dust!

I'm Canadian too! Where are you from? I live near Kingston, Ontario. I have an appointment on July 7th to discuss with my doctor where we go from here. So I guess we'll see. I have PCOS so I don't ovulate on my own. Good luck to you... Wow... it sounds like you were monitored really closely! That's great... I'm just imagining all of the trips to Kingston and how much work I'll miss... oh well... It's all for a great cause! Keep me posted on your 2 weeks!

Hi TracyR, that's a great, another Canadian....I'm from just outside of T.O. so I would drive downtown every morning..(45 min) to be there between 7-9am. Yes they monitored me really well. I have been talking to others on this site, and most people were seen every few days. Hopefully all this hard work, ends well...Good luck to you too, never give up, I have a few friends that are now expecting, some with twins! : ) Baby dust to you! I will let you know what happens, but keep me up to date with you too!

Hi lifequest. I am assuming from your name and the fact that you are from Toronto that you and I go to the same clinic ;-). It is fantastic! I am on the exact same regiment as you are, except I am a little behind (I will have my HCG scheduled tomorrow, then IUI the next couple of days). Did the HCG shot hurt? I have had no trouble injecting myself with the Puregon pen, but I suspect this needle might be bigger. By the way, I am 32, I have ttc for almost 2 yrs, with 1 m/c.

lifequest - June 29

Lqtoo your right, same clinic, and yes they are Fantastic, we are quit lucky compared to some stories and treatments I've heard about. Well as per the HCG needle, it was nothing...really just don't look. It is long, (I looked). So how many follies did you have. I've been ttc for 2 years too, though 4 years ago I gave birth to a beautiful daughter (without any assistance)...now her I am, at 35 years old...oh well won't give up!

lqtoo - June 30

Right now I have four follicles - three on the right side and one on the left. I am not sure how big they are, but I guess I'll find out today when I go get my shot. Thanks for the advice not too look ;-). Where do they inject you? I have a terrible feeling it's in the butt. I do need to find out more information - the nurse told me my estrogen is higher than 1500 - I have no idea if that is good or not. Oh, and one personal question - your dh's sprem numbers are fanatstic! How long did you guys abstain before he gave his sample?

lifequest - June 30

lqtoo, We abstained from sex for the first wash 72hours. (don't want to wait to long, other wise I hear they get stail too), than the next day's wash was still really good.
As for the needle, well it's on your side, (she said the hip), it wasn't to close to my butt...don't worry...it's all going to be worth it in the end. When are you doing this? What CD are you right now?

lqtoo - June 30

I am on CD 11, and I'll be getting my HCG shot this afternoon, so I am assuming that the first IUI will be tomorrow (so much for going away on the long weekend - LOL). Ok, 72 hours is good. My husband has been away on business this week, so I told him to masturbate on Wednesday night to be ready for Saturday morning. That will be between 2 and 3 days, so it should be okay. So you said that you have a four year-old daughter. Did you bring her into the clinic on Sunday? If so, I think I know who you might be. I don't know who any of the ladies there are, but this little girl was so cute, it was hard not to notice.

lifequest - June 30

lqtoo, no, I didn't bring her into the clinic, I mean unless I don't have a baby sitter, I really don't want to do that, because I feel bad to all these women ttc, for years...to see I'm there and have a child. I feel uncomfortable. I know I'm BLESSED with a child, and would love to have 1 or 2 more children, but will see what happens...(mind you, my daughter is beautiful, thank you!)
I haven't been in the clinic since last week Thursday. And my next visit will be on July 6th for my BETA.
That's good that your husband did that, just to "clean himself out" sort of, and provide you with the "best" : )
I wish you lots and lots of luck, and hope that one day (soon) your blessed with a child just like me. Get lots of rest, and don't strain yourself after the procedure, for at least 5 days...(my personel opinion), maybe it will increase your chances of implantation....I hope and pray it did for me...but than again I will let you know on July 6th...

lqtoo - June 30

Please let me know how things go, I will have my fingers crossed for you. As for women who bring their children into the clinic, I'm cool with it. It's always a little hard to see children and babies around, but if my Dh and I can't have children of our own, we definitely want to have them in our lives somehow, even if it's other people's children. But that is very nice of you to be sensitive to other people's feelings. And it must be nice to have the comfort of your daughter's presence in trying times like this. Anyway, do keep me in the loop...let me know if you start to "feel" pregnant, or if you notice any symptoms. One question: did they say that the projesterone will delay af?

lifequest - June 30

lqtoo, thank you....and you have a good attitude too, when it comes to children...always stay positive. This morning, which is I think about 7 days to af I kinda feel a little sick...I don't think it's pregnancy, though in my heart I always hope it is. I feel a little flu like - as if I'm going to catch a cold. A little fuzzy in the head. If it is a cold I'm sure it will be full blown out my this afternoon. I don't have any other symthoms, and I sure don't have any sore boobs..so who knows. When I got pregnent 4 years ago, I knew I was preg. 2 days after intercourse. My friends laughted at me, and didn't believe it....well, I showed them! 2 weeks later, I found out I was right. I just remember a feeling in my throat like a cotton ball (what people feel when there suffering from anxieity.) I was stressing over work at the time, but something inside told me I was preg. Now, I don't feel a thing, except for this cold/flu like sympthom...It's funny how we all become really in tune with our bodies. Oh, as for the progestrone, I have taken the progestrone even before I started this IUI treatment...(for 3 months) and yes one month my period came on day 30 rather than the usual 28, but I new I wasn't prego. cuz I did a test, I just had to wait for it to come. (so yes It can delay it), the other 2 months af came on time.

lqtoo - June 30

Lifequest, I just came back from my shot - you were right, it wasn't bad at all. I was the same as you for my other pregnancy - I knew about a week before I tested because my bbs were so sore. However, some other women on this site also had 'cold-like' symptoms before they got their bfp, so keep your hopes up. Hey, I ended up paying the $250 one-time fee that they charge. I wasn't going to, but she said that if I did, they would keep me as a patient up to 12 weeks. That means a scheduled ultrasound at 8 weeks to hear the heartbeat, and any time I had spotting or even a suspicion that something was wrong, they would bring me in for an ultrasound and bloodwork. I figured that $250 was worth the peace of mind! (especially since my m/c). What about you, did you go for it?

lifequest - June 30

Hi lqtoo, yes I paid that one time fee, I didn't realize it included all that too, who's your Dr, anyway. I have Dr. Cadesky. I'm glad the shot wasn't bad.
Now the next few days will be busy. Do you go in the morning for b/w and u/s and than at 12:30 for the IUI?
Glad to hear about those cold-like symptoms, I hope it's true! Keep me up dated....and baby dust to you again today!!!!

lqtoo - June 30

I'm with Dr. Cadesky as well - he's fantastic! And yes, I'll be doing blood and u/s in the morning, then IUI at 12:30. This regiment feels pretty much fail-proof ;-). Here's a cool story...I was talking to a collegue at work, and he told me that him and his wife had also been having trouble ttc. They also went to LifeQuest, and got pregnant on their first round of IVF. They are expecting in December. So there, first-timers luck to the both of us as well!!

lifequest - June 30

lqtoo...your right, it might just happen...look at this way with all the hundreds of people on this website, what are the chances of meeting someone from the same clinic and dr...when mostly everyone on this site is American...maybe that's a good sign too. Or, if that's not enough at least we've found a friend to share these hard times with..
I heard a story at the hair dressers today, a couple had been ttc for 8 years, and thought it was impossible. Went for treatment and within 2 years after doing IVF, they ended up having tripplets. All fine, and mommy doing fine too. Now the babies are about 8 mths old and guess what she's expecting another baby(she's 5 week preg)...with out help! Now that's what I call a FAMILY!
