Hello, I'm hoping anyone can shed some light on my situation. My dh and I have been ttc for over 4 yrs now, I am 27 dh is 31. Dh has very low sperm count, morph and mot. We are currently trying for IVF for the first time. My spirits are so low right now because of my u/s this morning. This morning after I had my ultrasound the nurse informed me that I have one follicle that may cause this entire cycle to be cancelled and we may not go forward with the egg retrieval. The follicle is hoarding all of the medication not allowing any other follicles to grow and fully mature. I have one big follicle that is hoarding all of the drugs and as of today it has grown to be 31 mm, while I have about 20 other follicles that are only around 10 mm. I am waiting to hear back from the nurse after she talks with the doctor on exactly what will be our next step. Needless to say, I cried on my drive home. Dh had to work today, while I had taken this whole week off in anticipation of this week being the "big week" for the egg retrieval and egg transfer I was expecting to be pregnant by mid July. Now it may not happen because I have one gigantic egg and a handful of follicles that don't have mature eggs in them. Super. Ugh, it's so frustrating. I am really beginning to feel like God must have other plans for us. At the same time, I feel like maybe that one 31 mm follicle is my baby fighting to get out...That's my girl. What if that one follicle is all I need? I feel beaten, yet I feel like I want to fight for this. The nurse doesn't meet with the doctor until about 2 pm, so I won't know anything until about 3 pm. In the meantime, I am at home just waiting. Well, if we can't do the in vitro, then maybe we can go with artificial insemination and use that one big follicle since it has fully matured. Although I'm not sure if a 31 mm follicle is healthy or abnormal because the nurse said they like them to be about 20 mm. I don't know. Does anyone know if perhaps I can suggest for IUI with that one mature follicle? Thank you for reading this, Theresa
