Mumps and male infertility

My hubby is diagnosed with low sperm count. He had mumps as a child. I read that mumps can lead to male infertility. Do you think mumps had caused his condition? If yes, can it be treated?

I believe it is mumps as an adult that may cause infertility as almost every child gets mumps.
