tryingformyfirst- it really depends on where your fibroids are located. There are many women who have very healthy pregnancies with fibroids. My fibroids are are 5cm. I have one that is blocking my left fallopian tube and another one that is destorting my uterus, which causes me to have miscarraiges. Have you had a pelvic ultrasound and HSG?
LynnieG- Thanks for all your informaation. It really helped.

Hello everyone! I am 37 years old and been trying to get pregnant for the last 5 years. My husband and i have seek a lot of doctors to help us conceive yet until now nothing happened. I don't know much about fibroids before as i used to have regular menstrual cycles. But for the last 3 years i've experienced painful, heavy (clotted) bleeding and extended cycles. In 2006 I even became very anemic with Hb of 7.5 while i was at work, i felt so light-headed and dizzy even hypoxic. So series of tests were done and i think almost every imaginable procedures i've had - a 5month course of Clomid which was unsuccesfful, HSG (hystero-salpingoram), IVUSS (intra-vaginal ultrasound scans). In April 2007 i had a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy where the docs discovered i have a 5 cm fibroid, the size of a tangerine, according to my OBGYNE consultant. Next thing i remembered i was having this discussion about a myomectomy procedure. I was sad and angry at the same time about what i heard of course. I just have the feeling that Clomid might have caused the fibroid..I changed OBGYNE consultant a year after, consented to the myomectomy and things seemed to be promising. Then i fell anemic again in Dec. 08 a month before the myomectomy so my OBGYNE had to give me Zoladex injection 2 weeks prior to the op and 3 units of blood transfusion the night before surgery. I had a C-section cut myomectomy and it was a success, even the biopsy was negative. I was even surprised that i only stayed and recovered in the hospital for 2 nights! I still had 3 more Zoladex injections after that though. I didn't get a period while on the injections and also stopped my periods for another 4 months. Now my menstrual cycle is beginning to go back to regular cycles and i had ultrasound and HSG again - both revealed normal. My OBGYNE suggested another cycle of Clomid but am really not convinced about this as it might bring back the fibroid. Any thoughts on this ladies? Thanks..

well I see no one has been on here in a long time, but I have a few questions. I am 34, 9 yrs ago I became pregnant for the 1st time & it was then that it was discovered I had a fibroid tumor at the top of my uterus. I was able to carry my son full term with a little discomfort my tumor by the end was the size of a golf ball, but after my 6 wks shrank. 14 months later I got pg with my 2nd son, it started out the size of a golfball and when I had him was the sz of a grapefruit, again shrunk back down. no issues besides the normal heavy periods, cramping, back pain. I got pg 3rd time in aug(9 yrs fm 1st time) & when I went it my tumor was discover to calcified itself & actually confused my dr to think I was 6 months along thinking it was the baby skull. anyhow, I had a miscarriage at 11 wks. my dr past away right after this and I am needing guidance bcs I want to conceive again. Is it safe for me to take clomid with a calcified uterine tumor?? Few months before I found out I was pg I was taking the HCG injections could that have had an affect on my tumor? Thank you!

Hi Denice35, I also have 4 small fibroids and I had a miscarriage previously although it wasn't clear if the fibroids caused the miscarriage. I have been trying to conceive for 4 months now and was wondering if the procedure helped you conceive.
