Time for a new thread, I'd say! The old one was getting a little long, no?! I'm sure my novel length threads didn't help the cause.

Mega - August 17

Bump! I'm trying to keep this one above the older one to make it easier to find!

CC - August 17

GM ladies. Mega, thanks for the new thread, we needed it. Elless, thank you for your thoughts on my embies. I hadnt thought of it that way (natural selection, etc)..What will be will be. I just want some healthy ones for tomorrow. Mega, you asked about going to blast. Its a bit of a frustration I have right now w/ my clinic and RE. Its making me wonder about the quality of their lab. It seems to me, if I have enough embies, why not go to day 5 and blast? My RE seems to think that blast transfers should only be used for patients older then I am, or with failed cycles. I dont agree at all. If I had my way, I would be going to blast. Ironic since Im the one paying them??! If I get a bfn, we will do a FET, and if that doesnt work, I will do another fresh cycle, and tell my RE unless she lets me go to blast, Im switching clinics. Im hoping I get a bfp and I dont have to go through any of that! Hope everyone else is well today. Elless, hang in there. Im with Mega, if a hpt will help you or make you feel better, you should do it. Im not a hpt user. I used to be, but got tired of seeing the bfn, so I just dont use them anymore. Are you feeling anything other then tired and cranky?

Mega, I posted in the old thread that a new one had been made..

isa - August 17

CC let me see if I can help with what my RE told me re 3 day vs 5 day. If you get to a 5 day yes your chances are higher for an implant as it has done much of the work already outside of its most natural envirnoment. Here's where the problem lies, if you have great embies on day3 and dont implant til day 5 you may lose some or all before day5. That being said, if they had been in their natural environment at day 3 they may have made it because they are in their most natural form to flourish. He says it's a guessing game and he has had better luck with day 3 transfers over day 5 but in some cases he does go to 5 (I'm thinking opposite of your RE though being older I'd rather have the for sure transfer on day 3 when I know what they are and how they are and I'd stress for 2 more days and what if I lost them all). I'm not happy to do a day 3 transfer. I asked him could we do day 3 and day 5 in same cycle and he says its been done but distrubring the cd3 ones may not help but their are ongoing studies being done. So far there are no studies to indicate it would help out at all. I too wanted the idea of a day 5 but when he explained to me I might lose some viable embies or all by leaving them out the extra 2 days (out of their natural environment (uterous) and in a petri dish) I think I'll be happy to get mine on cd3 (if I get some). Hope this helps your dilemma some it sure did for me after all i had read about blasts vs day 3

Just went back and read the old thread and thanks for the input on the frozen stuff. I never asked any questions that way b/c I knew it was stil going to be several months away but I like to have info before I go in and ask my millions of questions. I hope I didnt O last night because we only bd on cd 6 and 10 and we know his guys dont do well with my cm and wont last 4 days so we would only have had last night's bd to count. I got some cramps on right ovary today so I guess my temps will tell me in the morning if I did or not . I never used to get O cramps until I went on fertiity meds and not being on them now I still get pains once in awhile -sometimes for O but often times just during the month. I wish I had gotten a new pack of opk's this month but I also hate to spend the $50 + 15% tax for them. We just dont have cheap ones in Canada that I've found.

Mega - August 17

Hey ladies! Glad you found this one. Thanks CC for posting that blurb about this one in the old thread! :) I pretty much agree with Isa about the day 3 vs blast tx. My RE pretty much gave the same reasoning, but they did go on to say that they will do blast tx in cases like yours where there are lots of embies to tx and they're dividing nicely & they're convinced that there will definitely be some survivors to tx. Ultimately they know that some embies that arrest before making it to blast would still have implanted during a day 3 tx, so your odds are very high either way. As Isa & my RE are saying, our wombs beat their labs any day! But anyway, I hope that BFP is coming your way. And Elless, & Twiggy's and so forth. I'm not a HPT users myself, CC, for the reasoning you have. But I can certainly understand why a lot of people use them pre-Beta, though most clinics tend to advocate skipping POAS! :) It's funny though, I have a ton of HPTs in my cabinet but I hate using them. Go figure! I think I'll use one for GP post + Beta just so I can see what the double line actually looks like.

Oh I have a quick question for you ladies who have had their Lupron bleed. What was yours like? I think I'm having it now but it looks nothing like my typical AF. TMI Warning: it's brownish yes but very watery & mucuosey, and hardly there at all. Is that all I'm going to get? Or did yours get heavier? Just curious what to expect with the so called Lupron AF.

CC - August 17

Mega, my Lupron AF started like what you are having now..The next day it was a litle heavier, and that lasted 2 days. Mine was a total of 3 days. It was brighter red then usual too, when it really started. From all the things I read, my experience wasnt that bad at all. On that note, Elless, I think I remember you saying that you did not spot after ER, is that right? I did a little the night of, and a little yesterday. Just wondering. Isa, thank you for the day 3 vs. day 5 transfer thoughts..I know what you are saying, I was told the same thing, but since I have so many, as Mega said, a blast shouldnt be an issue. Elless had a blast transfer, and we had about the same number..Oh well. Its all a wash, because tomorrow is the day! Mega, if I had a ton of HPT's, I MIGHT be tempted! I dont have any in the house for that reason, just in case I ever caved. Isa, keep bd'ing just in case. Would it be cheaper for you to order the OPK's online, or on Ebay or something? I know the shipping is expensive depending upon where you are. You could get a Clear Blue Fertility Monitor for about the price you would pay for 3 packs of OPK's @ 50.00 a box. IMO, I liked that much better then OPK's, and it took the guess work out of trying to read the sticks. The monitor will tell you your peak days, etc. Although you would then have to buy the sticks for the monitor, which arent cheap, and if they dont sell them anywhere near you, you are in the same situation.
Just a thought.

Mega - August 17

Yay, tomorrow is the day, CC & with all those fertilizing eggies you've got a wonderful chance for that BFP...Thanks for the info on the Lupron AF. I'll look for it to get heavier then. I know it's AF though b/c I'm craving chocolate bad! :) I think I'll give in to temptation tonite! I think from what I've read about the ER, spotting wouldn't be an uncommon response, + some people tend more towards spotting than others. I'd think it's normal that you had some spotting Tues. & yesterday. But maybe mention it tomorrow to your dr, just in case? I'm not tempted to use the HPTs in the least, I guess b/c for me personally it's so demotivating. It's so funny to me how everyone has their own stand on the whole HPT issue. Isa--In case you did O this AM, would you be able to BD tonite too? Or would your DH's count be too low to help matters? I know ideally waiting an extra night to build up might be best but if there's CM issues too might end up being best to do the back to back BD thing. That's too bad that you can't get any cheaper OPKs in Canada. CC got a good idea with the monitor. Or another possible option is the re-useable Ovulation microscope. I've heard they work pretty good. The Maybe Mom is supposed to be the best.

Mega - August 17

Good luck tomorrow CC! **Sending you happy fertile, implantation vibes*** I'm outtie, ladies. Have a good night. Bon voyage, Galina!

elless - August 17

Mega, my Lupron af was very similar to what CC described. Started with brown spotting then went to two days of heavy red bleeding. Totally different from my normal af. But my doctor also thought that I wouldn't bleed at all and that was fine, too. So I think anything goes. Yours may get heavier or this might be all you get. I don't think it makes any difference. Here's hoping that a little spotting is all you have to deal with! CC, good luck tomorrow! Don't worry about the 3-day v. blast transfer. Both have high success rates, and your RE is probably most successful with the system he/she uses. It's going to be great! Just take care of yourself, and the rest will follow. I am sending good vibes to your embryos and you. Isa, I used the CPE fertility monitor, too, and I loved it. O sticks never worked for me - the monitor was the only thing that did. But it is costly. My dh has low/erratic count, too, but I did get pg naturally last year. So keep bd'ing as much as feels right for you. I'm sending good thoughts your way also. Everyone have a great evening. I'm outta here for the day.

CC - August 17

Mega, I say treat yourself to whatever you want during this time! Pamper yourself. I didnt go overboard, but I didnt think a lot about what I ate while going through this whole process. If I wanted something, I had it. I think what Elless said about the Lupron AF is right on..My RE didnt think I would bleed either, but I did. Anything goes is right. Thanks to you both for the GL and support! I'll post Monday and let you know how it goes..Mega, I'll be thinking of you when you start your stims on Saturday! Have a great weekend everyone!

twiggy - August 18

HOLY CRAP! I have missed sooo much! Sorry girls! Will y'all post and let me know where you are in your cycles? I tried reading everything I have missed, but it is too much to keep track of! lol! Hello to the newbies that have joined us! Lilly-are you sure you aren't pg? My RE's office told me to have a beta test whether or not I had spotting or flow. Okay so I have no idea where I left off.... Lets see, on the 10th I had my retrieval. They got 9 eggs, 7 fertilized normally. Out of those 7 we implanted 2 on Tuesday (a blast transfer), 1 stopped growing, 2 were excellent to freeze and the other 2 they were going to watch to see if they were worth freezing. ER was awful. I had a reaction to the anesthesia and barfed the whole way home. That always happens when I am put out. ET was fine. They had some difficulty getting through the cervix so they used an abdominal ultrasound to see where they were. We actually got to see them put the embies in on the screen! It was so cool! I am already going nuts about the results cause my beta isn't until the 28th! UGH! I will so want to do a HPT!! Anyone know how long the hcg shot stays in your system?? lol! It is really hard not to get excited. My mom already had to stop herself from buying baby stuff, she is so excited. She and my sister think we will have twins. Apparently my sister keeps dreaming about twins, only she is the one preggo with them! The PIO shots aren't too bad themselves, it is the day after when your muscles start to hurt. Have any of you ladies tried one in your leg yet? They suggested that to us but it looks scary! well, I'm gonna take off. Almost time for that PIO shot...YIPPEE! I will check in later!

Galina - August 18

Hi ladies! I just want to wish all the ladies who will be testing next week the best of luck! I truly hope that your ttc road will finally come to a end and you will be pg! Mega, good luck starting the stims! Everyone else, have a wonderful week and I'll check back in a week.

isa - August 18

CC thanks for the thougthts on the montitor but then I have to start paying duty and taxes (15% in Ontario) and then the dollar difference in cost between our $'s, and it really adds up and with the sticks I dont know how long they might be sitting in a warehouse to get through customs so it might ruin the integrity of the sticks etc. I do think about it but it didnt make sense up til know as most of the time I've been monitored by us/,b/w (until my holiday) then I got lazy and didnt want to go so often just for cycle monitoring as its a 30-40min highway drive both each way so with gas so expensive andit wearing me down so much i just started using the opks again that my cousin sent me but now shes in hospital after delivery a baby and she has preeclampsia and they cant seem to get her bp down so she's not going to be able to buy and send me any any time soon. I keep thinking if its meant to be it will one day or another. Mega you asked the other day and i forgot to respond about drinking while ttc. Here's my 2 cents - i didnt for about a year from ovulation to af. Never got pg and was feeling left out of life (I hardly drink but wanted the option) so I decided that I would moderately. I have 2 drinks 2x/week during the summer after ball games and very rarely but sometimes a glass of wine if we are out. My nurse said not to drink when doing ivf (but i think it is controversial) and if I start my Lupron when I think i am we have a huge gala to go to the next night and I am definately partaking. That said , i think its an individual decision but after that one gala I will lay off until i get my bfp, bfn, from ivf. We didnt bd last night as dh was out late and I figured if I already o'd it wouldnt matter but if I didnt than we should wait so tonight we will bd again (cd12). Temp was down .2 from yesterday so its still anyones guess. I think tomorrows will be a good indicator but its a wacky month for temps.

isa - August 18

Elless thanks for the info. CC sending good implantation vibes to you also. stick embies stick. Here's hoping for a painfree transfer. Mega good luck with starting your stims. Twiggy glad to hear 2 good ones got tx. but sorry you were so sick. When I get to the tx stage I will also be on u/s with full bladder *yuck* so they can see exactly what he is doing. Renal u/s was ok. I ended up having it with no food no drinking 12 hours before hand (1st gal gave me wrong info) so I went in nauseaus, hungry, headachy from no food or water and very dehydrated. It took about 20minutes and she said doc should have the results in 5 working days so probably by next Friday and hopeing I will get a call that day or early the following week.
