Hey, I just read your sad news. I got on this morning gonna ask you how things were going, and was sad to read this. There is really not much one can say to someone going through an mc, other than I'm really sorry that this happened again. I encourage you to see your doctor soon to confirm it, because I read on another thread a woman thought she was having a miscarriage but it was just placenta previa, or something like that. I'm not saying this to get hopes up or anything, but I just believe in getting doctor confirmation on things. Good luck to you, let me know how you are doing.

Linds you are very sweet. Thank you for your nice note. I'm surprisingly..okay. just okay - nothing better, but at least i'm not a basket case and blaming myself. I did go to my OB this morning and spoke w/ a nurse about my symptoms, or lack of, and they ran another beta. she's praying i'm wrong too ;) I'll get the results tomorrow but I'm expecting my levels to be negative. My dr. may or may not put me on provera to induce the m/c or he may want me to run it out naturally in a few weeks. It usually takes my body awhile to figure a m/c out. I typically get a D&C but considering how "a little" pregnant I was I shouldn't need that this time. It's going to work for me. I just have to the right hormone connection and the right Dr to watch over me. I think I told you that I left my RE and went back to my OB. My OB is definitely the most sincere and caring of the 2 Drs and I feel certain he will take me under his wing and do the best he can to make this happen for me. I"m going to start a serophene protocol next cycle. It's a Clomid type RX. I"ll take serophene, have a cd14 follicle check and trigger shot. I'm going to add into my after O testing that I have my estrogen level checked also. Typically people only have progesterone tested but I think b/c these meds are estrogen blockers that maybe something is breaking down and I'm not re-producing enough estrogen to help the pregnancy. DO you know anything about low estrogen levels and m/c or am I totally on the wrong page? OH and how are your lupron shots going?!? Thanks again for caring. Your note put a smile on my face.

Oh also from my bloodwork and urine last week I tested positive for Group B Strep infection AND I have another UTI (ecoli) infection. I"m on 4 pills a day for 10 days. I just can't seem to get over UTI's while I've been ttc. Every pregnancy I've ended up w/ one. Very frustrating.

Although hormone levels may disrupt a pregnancy or prevent it, a mc is also equally linked with a type of chromosomal or fertilization problem. I remember you indicated you were taking birth control during the early days of pregnancy for two weeks, maybe that estrogen dominance that occurs with bc could have caused the hormone imbalance and never fully let the progesterone supercede the estrogen levels. Of course, I'm not a doctor, just hypothesizing. I tend to think maybe you were estrogen dominant during the cycle because of the bc, which may throw things off when you needed progesterone. Your clomid derivative for the next protocol will likely make you ovulate sooner this time for a more quality ovulation, ya know, that is a very good thing in its own. But you are absolutely right about them monitoring the estrogen levels too and progesterone of course. Let me know waht your doctor says today... good luck though, weirder things have happened, maybe things will be ok.

Did your culture reveal that strep B? I could be wrong but I believe that is a form of vaginitis isn't it? Sometimes getting a strep B infection could be from "oral" if one of you are sick, and it could linger for months without medication. If you are a repeat UTI victim, I encourage you to tell your husband to wash his penis with soap and water thoroughly before relations. Seriously, after I had DH doing that since we stopped using condoms, I have never gotten a UTI ever since Oct. 2005. I used to get them about every other month, and when I told my doctor about it, she told me to make him wash thoroughly every time, especially because he is uncircumcised. I know, way too much info, but I just wanted to share this.

Bingo! I think you're right. I forgot about the b/c pills. And they were strong pills. I had all kinds of symptoms with them. I was on Mircette. The label screams different types of estradiol. damnit. I hate my RE for giving me the sample and telling me to take it. Okay now I have something and someone to blame!! (kidding)

Thanks for the UTI tip. I never thought of that. I'll definitely talk to my husband about it. He likes to take baths alot... Baths w/ bath salts and things. A girly thing I know but he enjoys to relax. I don't take them b/c I know it can give me an infection. well, we are usually "together" after his baths. I know bath water can get kinda funky and top that off w/ bath beads and salts. I'm going to talk to him about that. Thanks for the tip!

He's probably a clean man, he just needs to rinse off the guy from the salts and perfumes in the soap in the sink after a bath with water and non-perfume based soap. I stay away from baths too for that same reason. We used to take them all the time and I noticed my UTI would get terrible a few days after. Have you had a culture done?

pmblake - November 20

What do you mean by culture? Is that when it's sent off the to lab to grow for a few days? if yes, than yes... that's what they did. They took a sample on monday last week and called friday w/ the results. Interesting, i had just gone in 2 weeks before for a followup to another UTI that I had. I tested clean two weeks ago and then boom I show up w/ another. They said the ecoli was resistent to macrobid so now I'm on something stronger for longer. I'm going to also talk to my dr about a maintenance rx. Just for 6 weeks or so. To get 100% better and then maybe wean off it. Sadly I never ever know that I have the UTI. It just sneaks up on me.

linds99 - November 20

Yes, that is what I meant. That is good you got that taken. Anyway, as for UTI medication, you can ask them to give you UTI meds that are safe for pregnancy use too when you are done with the current ones. I remember they put me on that when I had one last October 2005, but I don't remember what it was called. Another thing, my mother in law, who is from Italy also suffered bad from UTIs, she told me to put diluted rubbing alchohol with water in a clear spray bottle (new from store) and spray it on a tissue and wipe your poop chute with it when you can. Sometimes women's poop chutes are too close to our vag and make infection easy. I sometimes do that too to keep it "extra" clean in that area too. I know, it sounds weird but hey, it seems to work for her, she's been doing it for years. I thought it would burn if I did it, but it actually doesn't.

i love it! Sounds refreshing! I'm defintely going to do it. Thanks for tip #2. You never said about how your shots are going. Are you able to do them by yourself or is you dh helping??

linds99 - November 20

Ya, thanks for asking...I started the Lupron on Friday and started getting hot flashes yesterday. I'm now just waiting for AF to come before I start the follitism or FSH shots. I think AF should come on Turkey day...hooray, great timing of course. But ya, we've been using your shot technique you told me last week and have not had any issues so far...but DH just gets so worried of all the side effects of the drugs, he just can't wait till we're done with it all. Me too...this is very sad it has come to this you know? Anyway, are you still cramping today? Bleeding?

pmblake - November 20

I'm glad the shots are going well for you so far. I don't remember side effects w/ lupron. I only used Lupron as a trigger shot once. I had 12 eggs mature and lupron was better for ovulation than ovidrel. Not sure why but it worked. i think b/c it leaves the body so quickly. Follistim is easy easy. just load it on the dial correctly and pinch your thigh again. I would alternate thighs every night to ease hitting the same spot twice. If you go straight in your thigh you will definitely bruise. go in at an angle and you shouldn't bruise much at all. the only side effect I've had is just really painful O's and just getting really ugly bloated like i swolled a small tire. Nothing helps. Just buy some tunics for the holidays. I could still wear fitted bottoms but fitted tops just made me look fat. and no, i'm not really cramping much and the bleeding shouldn't start for about a week or more. If history repeats itself. I think my body has to rid itself of all the hcg and then it realizes it's time. Yeah, what we go through is really sad. My mother hardly ever had a period but had 5 kids and smoked while pregnant w/ all of us. We're all healthy. It's amazing. hmmm.. got a light ;)

linds99 - November 20

I hear ya, my mom too had four kids including twins (me) and that was after the doctor said her thyroid was so low she probably would never get pregnant. Ha. I was thinking that too, these women that eat really bad junk food, have extra marital one-night stands, do drugs and smoke and get pregnant, because it always happens to women like that! There is no reason why. My mother-in-law works in the baby ward at the hospital and says they have one at least everyday. Life is so unfair.

linds99 - November 20

Seriously, I got a bruise from the first Lupron shot my DH gave me. Probably because of the way he gave it to me, like you said, straight down. But yesterday and Saturday, no brusing, so he probably goofed the first time then. I'm not looking forward to bloating, I wear a size four jeans and today, they got tight...I have to buy new pants now, I'll have nothing to wear for winter. Sorry to hear that your mc takes that long to end. I hope you are not in too much pain and this nightmare ends for you by the holidays. Are you going to see your sister on Thursday?

pmblake - November 20

I'm hoping that I'm back on track by Christmas. That's plenty of time to get things moving. Back in the 2ww! I honestly thought I"d be out for awhile. I thought I'd be reading about you and lovemy3 and the other girls.. and that I'd be holding out for my 12th week. not so lucky this time. And you know I"m still squeezing my behind into my size 2 jeans! it's a tight squeeze but it's packed in there. I learned to buy jeans and cords w/ a bit of spandex. Makes it less painful to look at. JCrew or Gap. stretch that size 4 out! and no, I won't have the pleasure of seeing my sister Thursday. She called my mom about her Christmas plans and seems that she'll be visiting when my brothers and myself are not. She's making an effort not to see any of us. ho hum... Well I should hear about my beta tomorrow sometime. I was hoping they would do a rush and let me know today... I"m just ready to move on.

linds99 - November 20

I've never been able to squeeze in a 2! You must be really skinny minny! I'm actually scared of sqeezing myself in my jeans, as my mom used to tell me i would be "straining circulation by doing that." Ever since I was a little girl, she's always ask "are those too tight." Funny that I still worry about that at 29. That is why right now my jeans are opened on the front button and my sweater is over it covering the opened button to let the bloating do its thing in freedom. You sound like you have a real mellow outlook on things right now despite what is going on. Maybe AF will come sooner than you think...Do you think your sister is "purposely" avoiding a run-in with you and your brothers? Geez, I guess you are right about her if she is strategizing that way. Let me know how things go tomorrow. Maybe they will give you the provera shot to induce the uterine contractions faster?
