period pain right after ovulation - can anyone explain this?

ive been experiencing some period pain right after ovulation (from the 16th day) for the last couple of months. im confused as this has never happened, can anyone tell me why this has been happening? i keep thinking im pregnant but my periods end up coming. so it is quite depressing...please help
