messed up periods

I have only been ttc since May, but had no period in June, then two days the 1st of July, now I started another period a few days ago, a week early. I was using ovulation tests, but who knows. I just don't want to deal with these heavy periods. I was on birth control because of it. Now I want to get pregnant (hopefully soon), because I bleed so heavily. Any suggestions?

Hi Beth! I'm right there with you! Went off of BC beginning of May and have been ttc since then. Was on BC for very irregular, unpredictable cycles/af. Then no af post BC. Thought I was PG but not. Took Provera this month and got af finally after 63 long days! Now I'm on cd 10 and concerned that I'm right back at square one-no af post BC. The OPKs are all negative and I'm starting to think that they may be unreliable. Who knows!? Or maybe just Oing late, but I don't have any of my normal pre BC cycle symptoms. I do know that it can take your body anywhere from 3-12 months(and possibly longer)to adjust being off of BC and kick into normal cycles. For those of us with irregular cycles/af, I think it's harder to figure out our Oing days because our af is all over the place! Maybe your OB/GYN can prescribe something for you that can help regulate your cycles. Then you'll be able to pinpoint your Oing days. Your body is probably trying to figure out what it's supposed to do since it no longer has the BC to do all the work. Although, I've never tried any, I've heard and read that there are a lot of natural herbs that can help. Wish I could help more, but I seem to be in the same boat. Keep me posted and let me know if you find out anything that would help. ***BABY DUST SPRINKLED YOUR WAY***

I thought I was pregnant, too. I went off birth control last year for 3 months, and had no problems, except for after the 3rd month, the heavy bleeding returned. I think that's what I'm experiencing right now, and it's no fun!! I think you're right, I will see the doctor about this for sure. I am already seeing my family doctor for other things, because I think my thyroid is out of whack again, which could be the problem, but I think seeing my gyno would be a good idea, also. When I was using the OPK's, they seemed to be right on. I would have only a few days where both lines were very dark, then it would end, and there would only be one line again. I don't trust those things though. I'll look into the herbs after I see my doctor. I'll let you know if I find anything out! Thank you for your response, it was very helpful. I didn't know there were pills to help regulate without being birth control!. :)

Beth - have you tried charting your BBT? This would be a great way to tell if you are ovulating or not. I charted mine for four months and realized I was not ovulating. I also had irregular periods as well. It may help you to try this! My doctor made me chart my BBT before she would start me on any medication. Good luck!
