Oh my god - $10,000 per try for IVF??? I thought it was expensive here at around $1500 (and i'm pretty sure that includes the drugs - but yet to do first to be sure). Because we just found out DH has poor sperm quality (hate saying that - dont like to 'blame' anyone) we have to do ICSI (which is where they inject a sperm into the egg) it will cost us an extra $600 per try. So we are looking at around $2000. You guys should come to Oz for IVF (but probably not covered by our system???). Can I ask how much IUI is in the US? Here it is under $300 including all drugs and tests.

Here in the States, my IUI will cost me $290. That's U.S. dollars, so not sure what the exchange rate is. I've finally taking my last round of clomid yesterday, so I am all geared up for my first IUI this Thrusday. -kelly

To Cee Bee -- thanks for the thoughts and suggestions. I agree... I don't want too many people knowing my business. We are TTC#1 (since last fall), but due to my work logistics (travel --ugh) we won't start clomid+hcg+iui until sept/oct. I am very frustrated and want to get going, but the travel thing is my fault I guess. In the meantime I've just started met (PCOS) and hoping that maybe the fertility gods will smile on us in the meantime. I'm 38+, DH is 40. DH is also a bit clueless at times -- doesn't seem to think this is going to be a problem, and does not appreciate what I'm going (and going to go) through. He found one semen analysis a bit trying. Oh well. He's supportive, and seems to want kids, but does not seem to realize that time is wasting! I've started telling folks I have an insulin issue (but not mentioned PCOS by name), but have not mentioned IF to most, and don't intend to do so. My manager is male and if I have to tell him something I may go the "woman issue" route w/o specifics. <sigh> It's tough enough physically and emotionally as is.... but it helps to have you all out there. Sorry this is a bit rambling... -Tia

from wanna be hi there in canada without meds myiui will be about $400. adding on meds would be about another $100 i was told unless you need shots. One gal in the clinic i spoke with said she needed shots as she wasnt ovulating and it ws $1600 per cycle for her meds/shots. whoa ... i'm glad at this point i'm ovulating. To cambridge Kate i feel for you and will keep you in my prayers to have dh come around a bit more for you. mine is now finally coming around really supportive. i think he was just unsure at first what i needed from him and that was my fault. now i've told him and he is very good. Once you stop the travel hopefully some stress will leave you too and help make things easier for the 2 of u.
