I just went off the pill and we are going to start trying. I'm just wondering if anyone knows when the body starts ovulating again. Is there any way of knowing if I'm ovulating. I know if I feel a pain, etc or the discharge being clear and runny, etc, but is there any other way?? Also, this might sound dumb, but if a person is ovulating and the sperm from the male is good, then why does it take some people so long to get pregnant? Please help!!

Hi Trixie, I could give you a long winded anwser... but it depends on the women. Most it only takes a cycle or two to come back into swing... for me I was on the pill for 13 yrs and well it took much longer. :) For getting started, go buy a book 'Taking Charge of your Fertility'. It is the bible to conceiving and provide an excellent 'birds and the bees' since we haven't gotten this instruction for years!! Good luck and happy baby making!

Like JenG said, every woman is different. I was on the pill for 10 years, and it took me 6 months after getting off the pill to start ovulating. In order to find out if you are ovulating you can use opk's, but that can get a little expensive month after month. You can also temp to find out if you ovulate. You take your temp everyday at the same time. After you ovulate your temp should show a slight rise. To find more information on temping try www.fertilityfriend.com. Even under the most perfect conditions couples only have about a 20% chance of conceiving every month. Good Luck.
