I used to have sex with my ex for 2 years without using protection. He never came inside me. He was pretty good at holding it in and would come outside, never near my vaginal area. We almost never had sex when I was ovulating. I never had an "accident". Is it just b/c it was done kind of safely, or something else?

Well, sounds like you didn't get pregnant because you tried not to.
Anything is possible.

I wouldn't worry about it. I read that if everything is done right (ejaculation three days prior and on ovulation day, etc), that there is only like a 25% chance you will get pregnant that month.
