Hi Robyn, yes, you tested to early and it is a reason it came positive.Hcg shot stays in system for up to 2 weeks depends of dossage you had 2,500;5.000 or 10.000.So it is better to wait as every doctor will say 14 days to make shore not to get false result.Anyway, wish you good luck and hope you will really get positive soon.

I agree you tested to early it is left over for the hcg shot, but don't lose hope you can still get a positive it would be around when your period is due.

Thanks girls. my RE's nurse just called and said the same thing she said give it 10 days to get out of my system and we are only on day 6. She said to come in Saturday morning for my progesterone level check. We will see from there.

I had an HCG shot on day 14 and IUI done day 15. Today is day 20. I did a hpt test this morning and had a faint positive. Could I be pregnant or is it too soon and it is remnants of the HCG shot still in my body?

Ann1 - April 18

mmelo, yes the hcg is likely still in your system. It takes an average of 10 days to leave your body (assuming you took the usual 10,000 dose). You should wait until at least cd24 to test as far as the hcg being gone goes, but that is only 9dpo for you. Most people get a BFP by 12dpo, so that would be cd27 for you.

hey robyn does your insurance cover the re .. or is it all out of pocket?? thanks for the information.. i am seeing a obgyn.. and she is not monitoring me closely at all

mmelo - April 18

to Ann1, Thank you so much for your reply. I thought it might be early but this is my first IUI attempt and first possible pregnancy ever and I am almost 42. It is all a little overwhelming and you get so much conflicting information these days. Are you a nurse or are you speaking from previous experience?

Ann1 - April 18

Unfortunately, I am speaking from previous (and ongoing) experience. I have done 6 failed iuis so far. I am starting my 2nd injectible w/iui cycle this week. After that, I will move on to ivf. I am 36 and have never been pg. Did you do injectibles with your iui?

ROBYN - April 18

Mandi, unfortunately my insurance does not cover any of our expenses. This has been completely out of pocket and we are at the RE office 1x a week depending the week can be more. What about you.

ann1, I did 5 days of femara starting day 3 and one hcg shot on day 14, then iui day 15. I also have high prolactin levels so I have been on parlodel for 5 months. But I am so sensitive to meds and have so many side effects that all this makes me a little anxious. I admire your strength :)

ROBYN- i am seeing my obgyn. but one of the problems that i have with her is that she isnt monitoring me enough. which really makes me mad.. does it cost alot to go to a re??? how much are just a visit?? thanks for the information

Ann1 - April 18

mmelo, good luck! Are you going to move to ivf soon if the iui(s) don't work. I hope you get a bfp this time. Robyn, that is awful your insurance covers nothing. As if we need any more stress while going through all the ttc!! Have you tested lately?

ROBYN - April 18

Mandi, its very expensive. The initial meeting with the doctor alone was 400.00 and then you have TONS of testing. HCG, SA, Blood work, blood work and did I mention more blood work. Every freakin week. I feel i have none left in my body. The cheapest I get out on a good week is a minimum of 100.00 but it ranges from 100 to 400.00 sometimes every week depending on what their plans are. Then you have the meds Clomid and the HCG trigger shot which were not really that bad the Clomid was under 50.00 and the shot was 89.00. Honestly if we didnt have the means to do this I dont know what we would have done. It still drains your pocket and its a lot to consider when going thru this. But, we absolutely will deal the cost for the reward it will bring. Its just a very emotional rollercoaster with hormones. One minute crying the next yelling the next happy. Its wonderful!!!

ROBYN - April 18

Oh.. as for the getting the BFP with the trigger shot you get false positives for like 2 weeks. So I had blood work done on saturday it showed that my levels were low and probably didnt ovulate. Even though I had several ultrasounds they said looked great, one egg was 21mm and was ready. The nurse told me today if i didnt get my AF by this Friday come in the morning for a pg test. Then if negative (which will be) we will alter my cycle for this month. and restart on Clomid probably a higher dosage and the shot again. Oh sooo much fun. I have spent a fortune on HPT's they come delivered to my front door on a regular basis.

OMG!!! WOW well that pretty much sums it up.. hmm im thinking if i have to go through all of that and that expense .. i think ill take out a loan .. my clomid costs me $112.00 but i get name brand .. because my doctor told me that there is a difference in name brand and generic when it comes to that.. what kind of fertility issues do you have or dh have??? there is nothing wrong with me and my dh .. i just dont ovulate. and i think i might have pcos.. however i dont have the cysts on my ovaries. so.. i am on avandia 8mg.. and 100mg of clomid a month.. actually i start the clomid next month..
