Hi mrs.turnah,

I just had a hysto (hsg) 2day & i had one b4. what happened with me is my husband & i were TTC & getting no results. i can't necessarily say if it was me not correctly calculating my "ovulation" date b/c i was irregular or what.....i had 2 hsg tests done. the 1st one, was uncomfortable. feels as if you're having extreme menstrual cramps. i was informed that one tube was blocked & the other had the dye go in but not come back out (???). the specialist then did a sono & found the uterus to be ok. finally, she ordered that i have another hsg b/c information was inconclusive. 2nd hsg showed that the tubes were clear. 2nd hsg was done with valium. my doctor recommended the valium not so much b/c of the pain but b/c sometimes the muscles begin to spasm during these types of exams and more so if you have a lower tolerance to pain. so, yest there is discomfort. a motrin may help to relieve that as well along with the valium. i would not recommend that you drive after the procedure b/c you will be EXTREMELY relaxed! :) however, make sure you consult with your doctor first before taking this advice. hope that helps....
