One more thing, I just couldn't believe all the things we have to sign. And all the possible scenarios for freezing the eggs. It is realy crazy and forces you to think about things you've never thought about before, such as if your husband would die, what would happen to the eggs and vice versa...

I seem to be doing okay on the Femara---no yucky side effects so that's good. I am super excited that you will be able to have your transfer in December---this could be the year you get your best Christmas gift ever! I hear you on all the paperwork. I am sure a lot of was legal stuff. My husband is an attorney, so I have a bit of experience with legal mumbo-jumbo. :) I hope to hear some good news soon. All the best!

Hi Linds, Remember me? You helped me out w/ late ovulation and temps a few weeks back. I wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you! I will think about you this month during your IVF. Keep posting! Pam

Hi Linds99 and Ginger - I am also trying IVF for the first time this month after 4 failed IUI's. I am only 4'9" and weigh 100 lbs. so I am also very scared about having twins. But I also want to give us the best chance of conception after spending all this money on one cycle. Unfortunately our insurance doesn't cover IVF. I think we are going to wait and see what the quality of our embryos are before we make the final decision. Our clinic does offer an SBT (single blastocyst transfer) program that if you are under 37 and have 2 embryos make it to blastocyst (day 5 or 6) phase they will only transfer one embryo and if that one doesn't stick, they give you a FET (frozen) cycle free. Linds - when do you get started on your medications? I started the Lupron on Oct 21st. I go in tomorrow for my baseline ultrasound and blood work to see if I am ready to start the stimulation injections. I'll be up to 3 injections a day! Yuckie!! Anyway, good luck to both of you!! Here's to all of our hard work finally paying off this cycle!

Hi Pam, thanks for that. Really very nice for you to tell me that and offer your encouragement. Gosh, it is great to know all of you. How are you doing Pam? What CD are you on? Hey Heather, looks like you will be getting pregnant before me! Your gonna be the one guiding me through this IVF ordeal, so glad to know another woman going through it around the same time. I start Lupron on Nov 17 (after they confirm ovulation) and then it is off to the races... I suspect my transfer will occur in real early December 1st-ish. You'll probably have yours by Thanksgiving! Good luck on your blood work, I hope everything goes smoothly with your injections too. I read in a book that there is one called the "holy shit shot" can't wait to hear all about it from you...but I think the rest will be surface shots, with the needle that we use to inject in our stomachs three times a day being rather small. Thanks for seeking me out, I'll be following you too and keep me posted with your updates until retrieval!

Hi LInds, I"m on CD30. I never ovulated and my temps are steady 97.5. I've never wished for my AF, but I am now so I can get busy on my next cycle. I'm not sure what I'm going to be doing though. I have almost reached my lifetime max w/ insurance so it' going to need to be cheap ;) whatever I do. I'm keeping up w/ your ivf treatments. All the best to you!

linds99 - November 1

Just because your temps never "obviously" changed, doesn't necessarily mean you didn't ovulate this cycle, but it could. I only say this because from experience (my August 2006 cycle), my temps stayed at 97.5 for nearly the entire duration of my cycle. I blamed it on the estrogen secretions from two cysts I had that probably kept my temps lower. However, based on my CD 3 ultrasound after I got AF that cycle, (thinking of course I never ovulated at all), the ultrasound revealed a corpus luteum...I had ovulated in deed. But the temps never revealed it or my monitor. I can't believe you already almost reached the max for your insurance benefits? How and what procedures wiped you out? That is crazy, isn't it like $1.0 million or something like that?

Hey Linds, I too have BCBS PPO (isn't this what you have?) insurance but w/ only a 15,000 lifetime limit for infertility! It sucks and I'm almost there. I get 5k for DX,TX and RX services. And the ovulation temp issue sounds promising. I typically do O later. I ran out of sticks so I've been going by my temps, but sounds like they can't be trusted! Lots of AF or O pain this past week so I'm surprised she didn't show. Plus this gives me more time to decide what I"m going to do next. I'm definitely going to try your Primrose Oil trick....

linds99 - November 1

Sounds like my policy is a little different than mine, but I could be wrong, I have to ask DH what my max is. I'll get back to you on that, you spurred my interest. Hey, if you do primrose oil, do it only in the follicular phase through ovulation, not after ovulation...But who knows, this phantom cycle of yours may be the one too, don't give up until AF shows. Our bodies are totally unpredictable, look at what happened to Heather over in the other thread, read her story, it is so amazing.

linds99 - November 1

I meant to say "your policy"...type too fast.

Heather and Linds, good luck on your IVF journey! i wish you the best! are both of yours covered by insurance? Do they charge so much based on how many they transfer? I am pretty clueless on the IVF stuff. My ins doesn't cover it, so i haven't gotten to that point yet to really consider it. Did either of you guys do injectables? I saw you were on clomid for a few cycles, Heather. I had the same experience as you- i did 4 clomid only cycles and responded well. then did 2 clomid/IUI cycles and responded really well (7 mature follies)- still no luck. i had the thin lining problem too. I just did my first follistim cycle- i didn't think injectables would be an option for me since ovulation isn't my issue (based on my clomid response). but he said the injections would also of course not affect my lining negatively and make the whole environment better for pregnancy. so i am giving it a shot, literally! lol- i go in for the IUI (#3) on friday. I figure I will do 2-3 injectable cycles before i get to the point of considering IVF due to the cost it will be for me. plus i got this first inj cycle pretty much free- my ins does cover u/s and the IUI, but not drugs. my RE gave me a free sample of the follistim, so i didn't have to pay for that this cycle which was a huge savings. good luck ladies! please keep us posted on your IVF journey- i want to educate myself on the process.

I think all insurance policies are different when it comes to lifetime maximums. For me, all my RE procedures and IUIs are covered at 100%, but I have a lifetime max of $25,000 on any IVF procedures. (That would cover about 2-4 IVF cycles max.)

pmblake - November 2

Linds, What did you find out about your insurance? Sounds like if you have 4 ivfs covered it's pretty good. And Ginger yours sounds equally as good! I never thought I'd be needing infertility insurance. I"m just thankful that I have any at all. But this only pertains to going to an RE vs. OBGYN. I had u/s, b/w and clomid for 2 years all covered under my regular medical plan. Maybe I should go back to my OB?! where it's all covered... that's a thought.

linds99 - November 2

Hi Pam, mine is like Ginger's plan, my husband said our BC plan covers 4 IVF cycles. I have had all my diagnostics covered by Aetna, and the rest...IUIs, Clomid, HCG, blood work, ultrasounds covered by Blue Cross. Hope this helps...Ginger, I peeked over at your FF cycle...only a few more days till ovulation girl...Hi Tink, I'm sure the injections will work optimally for you since your clomid response was so good. I hope for you!
