Hello, I am new to all of this...I am 36, and have 3 children from my prev marriage....I am remarried and my wonderful DH has poor morph and was not able to have children without IVF,,,everyone told me I was crazy but decided to "start over" and try it. We started on Aug 29th and I had my transfer on 10/6,,,now I am suffering through the dreaded 2ww,,,I have read through some of the threads and already feel like I know some of you, you are a very intelligent group of women, this is awesome!! Any advice on trying a hpt or not???

Welcome and good luck on your IVF transfer, how exciting!! If I were you I would wait until at least 10 days past your transfer before testing with an HPT. I wouldn't want to do it any earlier b/c your chances of getting a false negative are pretty high. Of course 10 days past transfer may still be too early, but I think it's a good "early" test date. Ideally, you should wait until your missed AF or your RE okays you to test. BTW, how many eggs did you have transferred? Best!

Hi Ginger6363,,,well today is day 10 from my retrieval day and day 6 after transfer,,,which day do you start counting from?? Sorry, I am new to this, when I got pg with my 3, I was so young I didn't even know you could plan a pregnancy let alone IVF,,lol I had 9 eggs 8 matured, but only 3 fertilized. I had 1-8cell rated a 1(yea), a 8cell rated a 2 (not too bad) and the 3rd was a 6cell rated a 4 ;o( but I am feeling very positivea bout all of this b/c I have always been "fertile myrtle" and have never had a prob getting pg. How about you? Where are you in this process and how are you doing?

Lisa, I would say test 10 days past your transfer date, not your retrieval date. Well, three eggs, huh? Sounds pretty promising. Did your doctor give you a "target" test date? Well, for me this process is still kinda new; I have been ttc for about 5 months, but I have been going to REs for what seems like almost all my life (really only about 10 years---I am 28), having various procedures and surgeries to correct some anatomical issues. I am having an IUI tomorrow morning, so I will soon be dealing with the 2 week wait like you.

ginger, Thanks, I guess I will try the hpt on Monday. my doc said 14 days after transfer for the blood test, but that wouldn't be until Oct 20th (forever away)...You go tomorrow?? oh, good luck, I will keep my fingers crossed, my nextdoor neighbor has twins after her IUI, a boy and a girl, would you be ok with twins? So did you have to take stim meds?

lisa, more than likely it will not be a multiple. I am not on stimulating horomones, and I have just one follice "ready." Of course, you never know, it might decide to split and become an identical twin, but I think my chances are pretty slim. :) I will be happy with whatever I get!
