Just found out today I have 4 large cysts on my left side and this months cycle will be cancelled and I will probably have to go on birth control pills for a month to see if they shrink at all. Has anyone else gone through this and can tell me their experiences (good or bad). I was on 50mg of clomid and injections last month. I have never had cysts before.

Isa- Hey girl! I haven't read the other thread yet but saw the title and had to come in. Yes I had cysts one cycle after all the fertility drugs (ddnt ovulate all the mature eggs which made a cyst) and they put me on birth control for a month and they were gone by the end of the month. Good news that the bcp will also help even out your hormones as well as fighting the cysts so your next cycle will be more hopeful.

yeah-i too suffered from a large cyst on my right ovary---went on bcp--and it did shrink....however i did right that clomid helps bring on these cysts !

Found out today my estrogen level is very high and they have cancelled my cycle. The RE has decided for whatever reason not to put me on b/c this month and wants me back for u/s , b/w on cd3 next month. Hopefully I can get rid of them on my own, af comes early and I can fit in 2 iui's before they close at xmas.Patty I have no doubt clomid had played a factor in the cysts.

I had cysts and was told to try BCP and it did not work. I ended up with twice as many cysts and after I stopped takeing them they went away. I think it would be different for everyone though. Good luck

Hi Isa,
You are welcome. Please remember that everyone is different and that it may effect your body different. My dr said that it had nothing to do with it, but a friend who is a nurse said that yes they can cause more. Could be the time of the month as well. Find out what kind of cysts they are and try looking it up on the net. I found that BCP only helps certain types of cysts. I really hope that they help you. Cysts can be painful and a pain in the Bu$$. I was not on the clomid injection so that could have caused them for you. Good luck.

Dawn how do i find out what kind of cysts they are.I had 4 follicles last month on that side so they have assumed its just the follicles tht turned to cysts (I think i've got that right but I might be a tad wrong in my memory).

Hi Isa,
I would ask your dr. They could be
Endometriomas: These cysts develop in women who have endometriosis, when tissue from the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus. The tissue may attach to the ovary and form a growth. These cysts can be painful during sexual intercourse and during menstruation.
Cystadenomas: These cysts develop from cells on the outer surface of the ovary. They are often filled with a watery fluid or thick, sticky gel. They can become large and cause pain.
Dermoid cysts: The cells in the ovary are able to make hair, teeth, and other growing tissues that become part of a forming ovarian cyst. These cysts can become large and cause pain.
Polycystic ovaries: The eggs mature within the follicles, or sacs, but the sac doesn't break open to release the egg. The cycle repeats, follicles continue to grow inside the ovary, and cysts form.
Functional Cysts: These normal cysts will often shrink and disappear within two or three menstrual cycles. Because this type of cyst is formed during ovulation it rarely occurs in menopausal women because eggs are no longer being produced.

Hope that info helps.. This has more info..it seems to be a bit old form 2003 but I would really ask your dr about it or nurse.
