Just thougt I'd put my two cents worth in about payment for IVF treatment...I just had to pay $1450 in upfront fees before I could even pick up the first lot of medication...Thankfully we should get back about 80% of the cost once the first treatment cycle ends...though the actual medication isn't covered by what in Australia we call Medicare. The Synarel, or the nasal spray is worth $110 a pop...

Hi Meg! My appointment with my doctor was so wonderful today. I love him.
He said lets say he did 200 IVF's past month, and they told him to make a list of the top 35 girls that would get pregnant this past month, and he said I would be on that list.
I know he is not G-d, but in my eyes he is pretty close to it.
One possibility of what went wrong was me being sick with a fever. My body was fighting it amd could fo recognized the embryos as foreign objects, or it can just be mother nature not wanting it to happen now. All of my #'s and everything looked great.
Now the big debate ....frozen or fresh in March?
My doctor said Frozen just to give my body a break, but fresh has a higher percentage of success.
He said it is a personal preference. With frozen when they thaw- you risk the chance of loosing them, then I am pushed back again.
I am thinking I am going to do fresh, I know it is aggressive and hard on my body, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to have that baby(ies) in my arm.
Oh, and he is putting in 3 instead of 2 this time.

Sorry about all the typos, I am typing fast and not paying attention :)

barzee - February 2

Robyn- I am so sorry you are not feeling good. You just havent had a break with this blood. You poor baby. Is this going to happen throughout the entire pregnancy?

GoGo Trigger - February 2

Hi guys, sorry i haven't been on in a day or so. I have to reread everyone's posts...I just skimmed through. Barzee, I'm so sorry about the BFN; I bet your doc is right about the fever. This whole darn process is so delicate. Girls, PROMISE me you'll all take care. Something very scary happened to DH and me last night. DH (Matt) came home Tues from work early with a fever and couldn't keep down food, but he felt better around noon on Wedn. I taught Wedn. night and got home around 8 to find that he had leg pain. I looked at his leg and it was all red and getting swollen, very hot to the touch, from the ankle to 3/4s of the way to the knee--huge area. So I take my stims--can't forget those, lol--and we go to the ER. We're there from 9 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Turns out Matt's got this staph bacterial infection in his leg (called cellulitis) and it was starting to streak upwards towards his heart. If we hadn't taken him to the ER it could have turned into blood poisoning. They were going to admit him but his blood count was good so they let him go home after an antibiotic IV; they left the IV in his arm and we went back tonight for another IV and we're going back tomorrow night for the last. At least it's getting better, but he's in so much pain when he has to walk. Poor guy. So anyways we don't know how he got it...he must have had a cut that got infected somehow, but we can't find any cuts on his leg. Anyways, always treat cuts with antibiotic cream because you just don't know what germs are out there! I called my RE and told him what meds my husband was on; luckily this isn't going to affect anything with the IVF cycle. I'm on Day 2 of stims tonight and I have my first ultrasound on Sunday morning. Yay! The RE said that the ER is usually within 10 days of starting stims, but like you TInk I don't think I'll go that long. WIth my last IUI I triggered the day of my first ultrasound, lol. That one was a shocker! I'm also finding this AF is lighter than my ones after IUI though...it is red and there are some clots, so at least that is good. My stims are 220 units Gonal F, 5 units Lupron. So at this point if we go by 10 days I'm looking at Feb. 10th for ER and the 14th(!!) for ET. We're going to try our darndest to do the 5-day blast transfer and hope to transfer up to 3 (hoping we have that many!!). I can't believe that I'm this close to ER; it seemed like I was waiting and waiting on the BCP for forever to start and now...ZOOM! But since I'm taking care of my DH this week, then he can take care of me next week :D

KBinParis - February 2

What a fright Jody! Poor baby, is your DH better now? A staph infection is nasty and can possibly keep you down for a long time. Glad you guys caught it in time. We tend to rely so much on our partners that when they're weakened it totally unsettles us, right? My DP has been feeling a little overwhelmed at work and its awful to see him down as he really is my sunshine and my rock. I have felt somewhat vulnerable through the whole IVF and pregnancy process so I guess that inadvertently, I count on him to be strong and upbeat so its pretty unsettling to see him look beat. Anyway, we're going skiing in the Alps for a week tomorrow with all our friends so that will give him a much-needed respite. Mega, so glad that you're doing fine, I was starting to worry. You look exactly as sweet I had imagined you would. I tried to put an entry on your myspace site but wasn't able. Oh well, I'll have to show you what I look like some other way. Barzee, that's great that the RE thinks you're such a great candidate for success. If I were you, I would also be tempted to try a fresh new cycle in order to give myself the best chance possible because after all we aren't doing this for fun. We want results as soon as possible. My DP wants us to put the frozen embie in as soon as possible once this baby is born. I don't even want to hear him say that. I am so busy taking this pregnancy one step at a time that I don't want to pre-plan anything. Robyn, I don't know what to say sweety, you've had way more than your fair share of pregnancy problems (what's a fair share anyway?). As a reward for being so good, I'm sure you're going to have an angelic baby that sleeps all night and only feeds when you want it to and poops lovely rose-scented little turds! :) Hang in there girlfriend.

KBinParis - February 2

Oh, after today, I won't be checking in for a week so have a good week y'all! Aish, best of luck for your beta today, please let us know how it went as soon as you are able.

ROBYN - February 2

Barzee - i am glad you had a great appt with the doctor its a relief to here is thoughts and ideas and how confident he feels you will succeed. My RE was the same way when we decided to go IVF he was very encouraging and said all i do is need to bypass this scar tissue around the ovaries and it will work and damn he was right. Maybe it was because you were sick. I hope that was the answer. Personally i would do the fresh cycle also. If your chances are greater for sucess go for whatever is gonna increase those chances. As for the me with the blood it could continue th entire pregnancy or for most of it. Oh we found the heartbeat last night we couldnt hear it but Jason went on the internet to look for really good directions on how to located the h./b he did it in less than 5 min still too early to hear but it went to 172 and then 147 in the same spot so we were happy for the relief on that. JODY - i had a staph infection over the summer i put expensive designer shoes and got a blister on the top of my foot and one day like your husband my foot was swollen above my ankle and i couldnt beleive it i didnt get it as bad as your husband they did give me antibiotics and put me on crutches for a week and i was out of work and how to have my foot bandaged and elevated with meds so those are very very dangerous you could die from them. So I am extra careful now. I hope Matt gets better real soon. I am also happy to see that you are so close hell if you respond really well it will be earlier. It goes very fast from here especially when your at the RE's office almost everyday. KB you are too funny girl honestly the pregnancy itsself isnt bad if it wasnt for the blood i would be absolutely fine. Well i finally slept from 11pm last night till 10 am this morning i only woke up because the asshole kitten and one of the other ones were using my room as a play room and running and jumping and playing all over the floor and bed its great. I will be back in a little while.

JB0405 - February 2

You guys don't give me much time to catch up, huh?!! WOW, I will try to read it today and get back to you all today. Work is stressing me out AND I just had MONSTER cramps!

ROBYN - February 2

Ok check this one out I just had to call the builder to come out because my ASSHOLE KITTEN decided to get stuck in the cabinets even though he could squeeze himself in he couldnt squeeze himself out this went on for over an hour. Jason had to leave work the builder came over had to cut a hole in my wood cabinets next to the stove to get the little shit out. I am so pissed at him. Now they are calling the cabinet maker to come out and fix the hole. I am sure this gonna cost us a pretty penny. I love animals just had to share this wonderful joyful story.
