Chemical Pregnancies

Candyleighs - January 10

Hi, I was wondering is it normal to have a lot of chemical pregnancies, like 3/4 in the past 6 months. If so is there any way to prevent them. I am not sure if I have had them or not. But I have had a lot of positive pregnancy tests that went on to be negative. So either I am having false positives or chemical pregnancie. Its so frustrating. Any help would be great! Thanks

Oh, also does anyone know if theres a way to ovulate early besides naturally. I am asking because My dh works out of town, so hes only home like the first day I could be fertile, if I ovulate on time which I think I ovulate late. So its kinda depressing because Its really hard, is there anything I can do besides going to a doctor and getting inseminated, or him taking time of work. where we could conceive. Not sure if that makes sense, but I was wondering that too. Maybe I have chemical pregnancies because the last time we bd is always like 3-4 days before ovulation, again if i ovulate on time. Thanks for you help

Candyleighs, you can go get a hcg shot to make you ovulate. However, this will only work if your follicles have matured to a certain size, which can be determined only with an ultrasound. Hope that helps. Also, what exactly is a chemical pg? I've heard people say it often, but I don't know what it is.

chemical pregnancy is when you fertilize your egg and it implants but for some reason it fails to stay implanted. You will get hcg in your system which will show up on a beta or hpt as positive and then will show negative. Usually its the bodys way of getting rid of a pregnancy that wasnt meant to be for whatever reason (probably a problem with it ) or because your progesterone levels are too low, your lining is too thin etc etc. For Candyleighs if you have had that many something is wrong and you need to see a doctor to figure out why you are not able to hold a pregnancy.I have had one and dont know why it didnt hold. I am hoping it is not a reacurring thing for me but I am under constant care with an RE, b/w and ultrasounds. I agree with ann's comment on the hcg but dont do it unsupervised or you can cause more troubles for yourself also like cysts etc.

Candyleighs, I had 3 chemical pregnancies in a row and have not experienced them before. I have 2 children and fall pregnant easily, but 4.5yrs later, i can't seem to hold them. I had been on the pill for last 3.5 yrs and was wondering if you had just come off the pill too.Docs say there should be no lasting effects from the pill, but im convinced that the lining of my uterus just has'nt had enough time to thicken up yet. I'm going to stop ttc for a couple of months and i'm having some blood tests done. I understand your frustration, I was very upset this last time it happened. Go see a doc, get some tests done, but i think a break from ttc may be a good idea. Let me know how you go. Good luck

Thank you all so much for your help. Nan- I stopped taking the pill last summer. I was on it for about 5 years. I will make a doctors appointment and see what they say. This time I was positive I was pregnant too, Had all the symptoms had BFP, so its really strange. I have had alot of cramping though ever since O... which is really weird. Anyways, thanks again, keep me updated on what happens.... Thanks again :) Good Luck for next time ttc

im going back to my gyne tomorrow, i think low progestereone has a lot to do with it,,,but will know more tomorrow ...

Hi ladies. I don't know much about chemical pregnancies but I wonder if I might've had one today. But first Candyleighs, I agree with ambrosine that your issue might be progesterone related. Have you been thru testing from an OB or RE yet? They can do a complete blood work panel, check your levels, all that fun stuff. But anyway, I checked out this post today b/c I'm only 12 DPO & AF came today. Usually it doesn't come til 16 or 17 DPO so I'm thinking my progesterone was a little low this time. My RE said it was normal but didn't give me a #. He just left that message on my VM, so I didn't get to ask him what the # was. But anyway, sorry for the long post but I was thinking since my period was earlier than normal, & a little heavier w/out the typical spotting if that could be from a chemical pregnancy? Thanks!

Mega, from my experience, AF is usually a few days late with chemical pregnancies. The only way to know is to do a hpt before AF comes. If you felt pregnant, with all the symptoms being different from normal AF, then you probably did have a chemical pregnancy. Its hard to know. My instincts were usually right.

Mega - January 12

Thanks for the info. It probably wasn't a chemical pregnancy, I'm just confused why it's so early since Clomid usually gives me longer LPs. I have an appt. with my RE tomorrow so hopefully he can figure out what's going on. I don't usually do HPTs b/c I've had so many BFNs I prefer to wait & see if AF shows up. It's all so confusing. Well thanks for replying. Good luck to you!
