Hi, I am new to this site and have found the entries so warm and encouraging! My husband and I have been ttc for 15 mths now...and counting. We have both been checked and everything seems normal. It is so frusterating... every person I know is pregnant. Except us...so we bought a puppy! HA! I heard this may help with keeping my mind off of pregnancy! I go to our OBGYN on the 28th...not sure what the next steps are. Anyone in the same boat as me....would love to chat.

Hi Meighan, I do know someone in the exact boat as you and she also just got a puppy. She has not been on here in a while. I speak to her via email so I will let her know to look out for you! GOOD LUCK!

That would be great...thanks!

Hi Meighen! Aw, happy new puppy! :) What kind of puppy did you get? When DH & I first started TTC, right after we got married, we got a puppy too. My puppy is now a full grown doggie though (2.5 years old) & I finally got pg. But I've got to say puppies are great distractions & so much fun to "raise." My dog is still definitely our "fur child" though. So hang in there! It is definitely a frustrating thing, TTC! But hopefully you'll get your BFP soon. In the meantime, have fun with puppy!

We got a boxer puppy and she is the cutiest thing ever! How long did it take you to get pregnant? Noone seems to think it is a big deal..,.but 15mths now and I am turning 30 in 2mths..I just didnt think this would be so hard.

Meighen, I just found your post and I'm in a similar situation. My husband got me a tiny manx/siamese kitten a few months ago, and she is the best thing that's happened to me. I've always considered myself to be more of a big dog person (we have a german shepherd), but this spunky little kitten is very special - she alternates between melting my heart and driving me to insanity - effectively keeping my mind on her instead of myself. I'm sorry to say that although we got her in August, I'm still not pregnant with #1, but we're hoping it will happen soon. I turned 30 in November, and we began ttc last April. How is your puppy doing? Boxers are SOOO cute! And how did your visit with the OB go? I will be going in May if we haven't had any success before then.

Sometimes I wish I got a cat...haha! Puppies are A LOT OF WORK...I guess getting me ready for the babies...lol!

We got our puppy in Feb and still nothing...had a bit of hope last month I was 6 days late...then my AF came:( It is so frusterating eh? I am going to be 30 in April and my dh and I have been ttc for about 1.5 yrs. I went to the OB and she said all my testing came out great...however she prescribed me clomid 50mg 3-7...not really understanding why if I am ok? She was a bit rushy with me almost felt kinda like I was wasting her time. Oh well March is another month...we must go on!! Have you been prescribed any meds or testing yet?

Gavinsmom - March 17

Hi Meighen! Your story is all too familiar with mine! Dh and I had been ttc for 14 months and nothing...went to OB and got all the tests done and everything came back normal. So, my dr put me on clomid. I got pg the first round of clomid only to miscarry at 6 weeks. I was so heart broken that dh and I got a puppy to cheer me up and also our other dog would have a buddy, too. 9 months after my miscarriage when we started "trying" again, I was pg! After many bleeding scares and complications, this pg actually stuck and now my little man is almost 2 months old! So, please keep the faith...I hope my story can give some people hope. It sure has been a long, hard journey, but well worth it! Boxer pups are so adorable! What did you name it? We have 2 Weimaraners...they are so sweet! :)

What an amazing story...thank you so much for sharing that with me. My pups name is Montana...she is so adorable! A handful to say the least but well worth it! Weimaraners are so beautiful! Are you and dh ttc again? I guess with your little only being 2mths...may be a bit too soon...but I hear getting preg after you just had a baby is very easy??? All the best to you and your little one..and thanks sharing your story.

I just wanted to share my experience. DH & I had been ttc for over a year so we had decided to get a puppy. A few months later we ended up getting a bfp!!! After 16 months of ttc!!!! Now I am 5 months pg and we're trying really hard to train the puppy before the baby comes:) Good Luck!

Gavinsmom - March 17

Meighan--Awww, I love the name Montana!!! How's the potty training going? Ha...we are definitely NOT ttc quite yet! I feel like a walking zombie sometimes from the broken sleep...lol! I heard that too, that it's easy to get pg right away after having a baby, so I am sending YOU my extra fertility! I had a pretty stressful pregnancy, so IF we decide to have another one, it wouldn't be for a few years! How many kids would you guys like? Oh, by the way, I am 27 and dh is 30...who would've ever thought it would take 23 months for such a young, healthy couple to fall pregnant?! Mother nature is weird sometimes, I guess! Lots of sticky baby dust to you!!! :)

I was prescribed Prometrium for low progesterone around the end of the year, but the side effects were bad enough, and I had read enough about it, that I decided to stop taking it after 4 months of no success. Meighen, just a note - don't let your OB (or any doc for that matter) rush you, you're just as important as anyone else on her appointment list! If she's too busy for you, I'd consider looking into another doctor...? I know you didn't ask for my opinion, but......if she rushes you later on when you are pregnant, it could be disastrous. I've found that it helps to go to the doc with a list of questions in your hand - it seems like they take you more seriously then. OK, I'll step down from my soapbox. Congratulations to Gavinsmom and soimpatient on your babies! Do Weimeraners shed year-round? Our german shepherd does, and now with the added cat hair, I simply can NOT keep up with the hairballs floating around the house! Soimpatient, what kind of dog do you have? Well, the kitty just jumped into my lap and is demanding some attention, so I'd better go for now...

We have a cockapoo...cocker spaniel/poodle. He is a great family pet. He is only 9 months old so he is still full of energy. I am hoping that he will simmer down before the baby comes:) I think that puppies are a great way to help cope with infertility. They are loving and they become a member of your family to care for. I don't regret getting one at all. I really hope that you get your bfp soon...all that I have to say is...I wouldn't be surprised;)

Hello Meighen. My husband and I have been ttc for about 6 months now, since I gave birth to our stillborn. We got a puppy shortly after we got married, and in the same month, we got pregnant! Our puppy is a little over a year old, so my husband bought me another puppy. He's says that since we got pregnant with our first, maybe we'll get pregnant with this one...maybe it'll be our good luck charm! :) Keep your head up and Baby dust to all!!
