Hi. I am 11DPO today and yesterday (on 10 DPO) I woke up to potty at 4:00 or 4:30 a.m. and when I wiped I noticed darkness on the TP (mind you, I don't turn the lights on in the middle of the night, so I just had light from the window). Well, after seeing the dark spot on the TP, I immediately turned on the lights because I needed to make sure I wasn't seeing things. Nope, there was red/dark pinkish blood on the TP (probably equivalent to a moderate to light flow during Aunt Flo ) I wiped once more, a lighter pink on the TP at that time. Checked my temp at that time (even though I normally temp at 6am and it was 98.3) Temped at 6:00am and it was 98.1. (temps usually drop to 97.4-97.7ish when Aunt Flo is arriving) Later in the day yesterday, I checked my cervix and it seemed to be high, soft & closed.

When I actually got up for the morning at 6:00, only brownish discharge showed on the TP. Today, I still have the brownish discharge, but very light. As gross as it is, I checked my cervix this a.m. again and it was higher than yesterday, a little firmer, but due to the height I couldn't really tell if it was open or closed. And I know this is even more gross, but a small clot of brownish discharge (almost black) was present. Temp this a.m. was 98.4. Still not Aunt Flo temps. I am cramping a little and have been for days. That's usual. BB's hurt today, but also typical of pre Aunt Flo. By the way, spotting (brownish discharge) is normal for me for 2-3 days before AF actually arrives, but the bleeding before the brownish discharge isn't. :(

I have only experienced this bleeding then spotting thing once before (maybe twice, but not sure about the twice thing). I understand that brownish discharge before Aunt Flo is normal because your body sheds left overs from last cycle sometimes before Aunt Flo arrives. However, what in the world would make me bleed only once, then spot for a couple of days before Aunt Flo truly arrives??? I just don't understand why I'd bleed only once and only that 1 time, but not start Aunt Flo . I'm truly confused.

Has anyone else ever experienced this and if so, do you have any idea what caused it? I apologize for the graphic nature of my explanations but I just wanted to make sure I was clear in them. Any help or response would be so greatly appreciated. I have been TTC for 1 1/2 years now and this weird cycle (along with the one before, which was probably 6 months or so ago) is just scary and more confusing to me :(

Thanks so much in advance for any help or advice you can give.

Anyone possibly experienced this before? Thanks for any responses :)

No 1st hand experience, sorry. But I'm wondering if you did anything different this cycle? Any new drug/vitamin/supplement? Something to account for the change in bleeding/AF pattern. I'd hope that since your 11 DPO it might be implantation spotting but it sounds like too much flow for that. I hope I'm wrong though. I have to see that "mythical" implantation bleeding myself. :) Hope to 1 day soon though. Anyway, how's your progesterone level? The pre AF spotting I've heard can be indicative of low progesterone however. Are you getting that tested each cycle? Anyway, those are just a few things I was wondering reading your posting. I wish I could be more help. I hope it's just implantation bleeding, but I don't want to give you false hope either. Good luck. Hope this helps! Hang in there!

Thanks Mega for your response. I know when I referred to the "flow" that was kind of confusing, but it really wasn't a flow at all. Just kind of like (and this is gross) the amount that would be on TP during a light flow, does that make sense? And it was only that once. Today is my 2nd day of brownish discharge after yesterday's once red. Cramping so probably AF on the way. Just find it weird that I'd bleed only once, then spot w/ discharge for a couple of days. I mean, hormonally, what in the world would make me bleed 1st in and then spot before AF finally decides to rear her UGLY face :) I just wish that she'd come on and not play games, you know? After 1 1/2 years of trying, it just seems to get more and more frustrating. Thanks for your advice though. It's nice to get everyones thoughts :)

By the way, Mega, the only thing I have changed this month is I took a 14 day course of Prilosec for heartburn. Today is the 2nd day that I have been off of it and it was a waste, because my heartburn is back today :0) LOL! But, that's it, that's the only difference. I took it b/c I have heartburn EVERYDAY, no exaggeration. My daughter's pediatrician recommended it. But, waste of time obviously if HB is back already! HB was my ONLY major sign of pregnancy w/ my daughter who is now 7, but since I have it all the time now, I can't even use that as an indicator :) LOL! Life's just so unfair! :)

Hmmm, I wouldn't THINK Prilosec would be causing the breakthrough bleeding (for lack of a better term). I hear ya about AF being so cruel. I've been trying around 1.5 yrs myself, & every cycle is a little different & a little more weird. What to do. But I'd still hold out a little hope for implantation bleeding. Hope AF stays away for you. But bearing that, I'd stick to my orig. theory of progesterone being the culprit. I had much lower prog. levels last month & my AF was the screwiest one yet. And it kept me from Ov this cycle too. Not fun. But anyway keep me posted. Hang in there, Shay!
