Birth Control After effects anyone?

I took BC pills for 5 years. I have been off for 3. After that I have had a very irregular menst. cycle. I have been to the doc's numerous times and they keep giving me progesterone pills. I then get my period. But only when on the hormone pills. Am I at risk for not being able to concieve? That is my biggest concern. If I try Clomid will that help me?

If I were you, I would get a work-up done at the doctor's. Maybe ask about PCOS, being put on Metformin (supposed to help you regulate your cycles if you have PCOS) because you sound like you're having the same situation as me.. Ask them to do a blood test testing your thyroid, and prolactin, testosterone, etc.. (all hormones) and get them to do a transvaginal ultrasound as well as a pelvic ultrasound (you could have a cyst that's not going away like I had). Clomid is used to help you ovulate for conception purposes.. Are you trying to get pregnant now or are you just worried about future? Just for future reference, progesterone pills only cause withdrawl bleeding, it should not be taken as a "normal" period. What it does is it brings your progesterone up high and then once you stop the pills, it drops the levels down fast causing a withdrawl bleed. Not good enough.. You need to get in and get these questions answered. Let me know how you make out and good luck to you! Take care!

Thank you SO MUCH for your insight. I have printed out your response and will talk to a new Dr to see whats going on. Can you please tell me what PCOS means? just curious..also were you experienceing any pain related to your cyst? I am not, so I am not so concerned about that being an issue. Howeve I will most defintley check it out. My fiance and I have been together for 7 years, not using any protection for atleast 4 or 5 years, and not once have I came close to being pregnant. I always just thought it was the Birth Control Pills but I have stopped using those for almost 3 years...so now I am really concerned. Of course we want to have children so I am trying to get my body in order so we can in the near future. I am just really concerned that this will be an issue...THANK you again...look forward to your next post...
