hi ladies, I am to have a hSG, and have been reading a little about it. my doctor informed me it would hurt and frankly i'm really scared about it. I've already put it off for a year and can't wait any longer. Anyone any experiences? Thanks

i am due to have my hsg test this wed, i am nervous too, but have heard the only bad process is the insert of the catheter and it only takes 5-7 minutes for the whole test, after i guess it feels like really bad cramps. i was told to take motrin the nite before the morning of, and probably after the test. whats your story. i'm 27 ttc for a year dx with annovulation, going throught my rounds of test right now and then hope to find out whats going on and go from there. i've tried two rounds of clomid, and didnt touch me at all. hope to talk soon

Girls I had mine last February and I was deathly afraid and did a lot of reading. The day of It i took like 4 motrins me personally i barely felt a thing. The most uncomforable part for me was when they injected the dye that burned other than that I went home was a litlte crampy compare it too period cramps but I was fine the next day good luck to the both of you.

I also was sooo nervous, I actually cried before I thought it was going to be so painful, and although it wasn't as bad as I thought, it was still painful but only for a few seconds, it was pretty cool to see the dye shoot through, you can actually see it on the screen, don't be nervous its over very fast, and just a little cramping after, good luck!!

I was a little nervous too. I think it's just because you don't really know what to expect, or you've read stories that make it seem worse than it really is. It is just different for everybody, so you can't really go by what others say, or you shouldn't. If you look at the big picture, it's an uncomfortable experience; however, it is very quick and worth every bit of info you get from it. The doc who did my HSG was rough and tried to rush through it, so the experience was not pleasant, but then I had a very similar test done by another doctor and it was a piece of cake, so I think it's just luck of the draw. I would do it again and again if I had to though. It's like Robyn said, it just feels like period cramps.
