well it's over! dh was able to make it in the end- which was awesome. out of my 21 fertilized, 19 made it to 3-day, most with 8 cells (which is what they want at 3 days i guess). While this clinic doesn't grade them 1-4, they identify which ones have the highest implantation prob (which is based on some grading system)- and i had 8 of those. I had to argue like crazy for 2- because it's my first cycle, my quality was good, and the fact that i will have some to freeze plugged into their equation as single embryo transfer. But I argued and argued and cited a lot of reasons; the Dr. called the head of my clinic and got the go ahead. Whew! And the rest went smoothly- a little more uncomfortable than iui but not bad at all. I did acupuncture before and after- my one recommendation would be to go see your usual acupuncturist for your transfer- I saw the one they have on staff at the other clinic, and it was a little stressful because she did things a little differently- don't want to add stress! Ok I guess I will rest now!!! Hope all is well with you guys!

That's awesome Wendy!! See, that's what I'm hoping for quality-wise...haven't had that yet, so hopefully with this new protocol things will be different. I'm definitely feeling something happening in there now. And, I'm really glad you stood up to them and they put 2 back. I wouldn't want to put all my hope in just one. Thanks for the acupuncture advice too, b/c I know that will come up. My clinic has one on-site, but not the guy I go to (closer to me). He said he would come in to his office as early as 5 a.m. if he has to in order to do my acupuncture before the transfer, and I will take him up on that! Rest up!

Hey all. Had a job interview today. I'm finding that the working world is a waste of time. They want you to have your bachelor's degree and still pay only 14 an hour. How insulting. Anyhoo- Yeah, I'm starting my bcp's today- tonight actually. I left my cell phone at home and missed dh's calls. I miss not talking to him throughout the day..my sweet baby...I hope this time goes fast....I'll be in Barbados around stim time so I have to wait until I get back to get bw to start the stims.

hendy - March 4

Kel- glad things feel like they're moving- isn't it sad when you are praying for the normal "pains"?? Shon- too bad about the job- why don't they appreciate a good thing when they see it? Barbados- oooohhh. That will be just the relaxation you need before the craziness of your cycle begins- awesome! Goin to eat some pineapple- have you guys heard this? Pineapple supposedly had some enzyme that helps the uterus become stickier and that people eat it after transfer. yuummm

babyforcole - March 4

i didn't know that. I eat pineapple everyday so i'm not too sure if that's true....lol

Hi gals- anything new? I'm taking it easy today again- it is raining like crazy here today which makes me feel like going back to bed instead of working on a big project that is due one week from today. Have a wonderful day!

kelsmi - March 5

Wendy, it's pouring here too. My tough task of the week is trying to do lesson plans for next week when I have NO idea what days I will be in! I'll have to take off the day of the ER obviously and I always call in the day before as well, b/c I just feel awful after the HcG shot. And then, depending on the day we do the transfer I'll have to take that day too! Crazy. Anyway, what do your clinics tell you about activity after the transfer? Mine just says to lay around and rest that day, but then back to work is ok the following day. I usually still lay around the following day too though. But, what about normal activity like cleaning, housework, etc...? How long do you wait to do things like clean the bathrooms and stuff that isn't strenuous, but does take some bending and moving?

lydeats - March 5

Wendy that is awesome news about the transfer. Great quality, great transfer....looks very promsing. I'm glad you were able to get 2. So it was a little more uncomfortable than IUI? To be honest, I had a difficult time with my IUI's. Very Very crampy and total discomfort. Now I'm a little nervous....maybe they can give me something to relax? I'm a ball of nerves most of the time anyhow which I'm sure doesn't help with the pain.Great advice about the acupunture before and after transfer. i went last night for the first time and it was ok, relaxing, but not sure of this place. Do the places you go seem "raw" for lack of a better word? I mean, the walls are so thin you can hear other patients...maybe I need to find another place? Shon I'm sorry about the job search. I'm an HR Manager so interview candidates daily. It saddens me when companies don't compensate appropriately for such things like degrees. What type of position are you looking for? Best of luck to ya. My clinic says to take off day of transfer and normal activities after that....I'm taking off 2 days and if house work is considered normal....i'm thinking hubby may have to pitch in :-)

hendy - March 5

Lisa- it's interesting that you used that word "raw". My normal acupuncturist is in more of a "raw" setting, although I've never clearly heard what's going on with other patients, just more muffled. Probably if you went in China- it would just be screens separating anyway! Plus I get 1 hour for $70. Then I go to this fancy-schmancy clinic yesterday (not my normal clinic either- long story) with a gorgeous acupuncture facility-and I actually prefer my lower key one. I spent $150 for 2 half hour sessions yesterday- and all they did was put a couple needles in- no cupping or anything like at my other one. But I agree- it's hard to know if what you're getting is standard or not- since you are still in downreg- maybe it would be worth checking out one more to see which you prefer. As far as more uncomfortable than iui- it didn't feel any more painful than iui, but I was up in the stirrups with the speculum in for much longer than iui- they first use a test catheter to make sure the measurements they made earlier are still ok, then they load the embies, then the embryologist needs to look at the catheter to make sure the embies are in your uterus and not still in the cath! But I have heard of docs giving patients a valium for relaxation before transfer- maybe you should ask about that! Kel- my Dr. said to rest day of. Normal activities can resume after that. Although they said no strenuous exercise until beta. I figure I will take it relatively easy for the "implantation" window- no lifting anything, etc. But I would think that normal housework should be fine- let me know if you hear differently! Shon- how are those lovely bcps?

babyforcole - March 5

Hey guys. How's everything? Hendy, what are you doing? I was on bedrest for two days and they don't me not to do any vacumming or heavy lifting. Isn't it funny how when you aren't ttc or know you're pregnant you go through your days normal but when you are ttc you're careful about everything you do??? lol...Well I take the bcp's at night so I don't feel any effects from them....

babyforcole - March 5

Lisa, I wish you were in MD. I've been looking at propery management but i'm going to school for business management HR, so I also applied to some HR Asst positions. I'm applying to Bebe Stores for a Store Manager but I really don't want to go back into retail. I hate the hours but I find that they will be more flexible with my schedule with ttc.

kelsmi - March 5

Wendy - I agree - I like the more minimalistic setting for acupuncture. I think it makes me feel like he's doing it for a medically sound reason (a treatment) and not just to relax me - although that's good too! It costs me $55 for an hour. I'm feeling more and more tenderness in my ovaries - actually my right ovary (the one that responded strongly last time as well). I hope it's even more so tomorrow. I'm anxious to see where I'm at Friday a.m. How are you feeling emotionally Shon? When do you test Wendy? Are you going to poas? Just make sure if you do, it's WELL past the HcG window from your trigger shot. You do NOT want a false positive...you only want a legit BFP!

babyforcole - March 5

Emotionally??? hmmm, that's a good question. I have no clue. I'm depressed I can't find a decent damn job, I'm depressed I have to start this all over again from day 1. I'm depressed that my life seems to have gone to hell in a hand basket at this very moment. I'm sure there is a rainbow at the end of this storm but I hate the storm.

hendy - March 6

kel- sounds like ur responding well and will have a few days off next week! So exciting! I'm not sure about poas-ing. Shon- would you poas like crazy again or do you think you won't next time? I ordered a bunch of cheapo hpts on line- if i start, i will start soon while hcg is still in my system so i can watch it go away. Since in my last iui- it stayed in my system for 15 days! Hi Lisa and Wamb and soccermom !

Hi Ladies - I'd also like to join this thread. I'm new to all forums, but my husband and I are trying to keep IVF between us and I'm dieing for someone else to talk to about this. I went in for my baseline tests on Monday 2/13 after taking Lupron for 9 days, I had a follicle on the right and left that was still growing even with the Lupron. I went in today 2/17 for another baseline and the follicle was still enlarged. Im now waiting the call back, but I'm terrified they are going to cancel this cycle and we'll have to start over. How do you ladies find strength in all this? My husband and I miscarried after getting pregnant naturally last October (2015) at 16 weeks. Since then we've learned that it was a miracle we got pregnant naturally considering my DH counts are extremely low.
