Anyone doing follistim injections?

Hi, it sounds like it produced the results it was supposed to. 4 follies is right on. More than that on an IUI is careless and then you possibly get into thinking about selective reduction if something was to happen. Good luck!

Hi All - I may b e taking follistem next month if my cysts go away. Have you felt any side effects, weight gain, mood swings, bloating, etc. I was on clomid 3 cycles and didn't really feel much maybe mood swings the most. I also noticed with clomid that my mucus wasn't as much as a non medicated cycle. I can't afford to gain anymore weight since I need to actually lose 20-25 lbs. Also, is the needle really that thin! I don't like needles much but did ok with Ovidrel. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks!

good luck ladies. i haven't done injectibles yet, i respond really well to even 50mg of clomid (7 follies both times). so i haven't had to do the injections other than the trigger shot. what are the side effects with the injectables? the clomid makes me so bloated. but if it is working, i guess it is worth it, right? lol! i hear the injectables can be pricey too (my ins doesn't cover them)- is that true? i am just trying to educate myself on my options going forward. i've had two unsuccessful IUIs, both with 7 follies/4 eggs. i am guessing implantation is my problem. good luck!

Lucy, how is it going- when do you test? how many good follies did you end up with- 4? i just started the follistim, doing my 5th shot tonight (CD9). i started the shots late (due to a lap). anyways- i was disappointed too- i only have 3 worthy follies this am- 19.5, 17 and 14.5. we are planning the IUI for friday, so i still have 2-3 days for those to grow but the 19 might be too big by then, leaving only 2 worthy. i have a few small ones too he said- but only 10mm or so. he doesn't think those will grow in time. but i am hoping different. trying not to get my hopes up as only 2-3 folies doesn't seem great to me on the injections. i had 7 follies on 100mg clomid and then 7 more the next month on just 50mg. I only did 100iu for 4 nights of the shots (doing night 5 tonight). i hope it picks up quickly the next few days and maybe some of the small ones grow fast. we can hope right? my lining is great though now- it was bad with the clomid. good luck ladies. i've had zero side effects with the injections, which is nice compared to clomid (hot flashes were horrible!)

Hi - well it ended up not working out - started my new cycle on 11/7. When I went in on day 2 of my cycle and had my ultrasound the doctor said I had to take a month off due to the old follicles weren't all released. Since I have had irregular periods - they put me on the pill for a month. I don't know if mrshorse is still checking this site - I would like to know what happened with you - since it sounds like you too had to take a month off due to the same thing. If anyone else has experianced this - would love to hear your thoughts and stories.

Lucy - I too had to take a month off since I had 3 cysts. Mr Dr wanted them to go away then I could do the Foliistim shots. In the meantime, if I get my AF next week than I am going for a laparascopy scheduled on Nov 30th which I just terrified b/c I think there is something wrong in there. I had a m/c June 05 and 3 failed clomid/IUI's and DH's numbers are awesome! Ithink there is something wrong with my eggs. Everything else has come back normal. I wish I had a lap awhile back. I am on CD 22 and waiting patiently. I don't think it happened even though I had I had some great follicles on my own this month. I guess I can only hope for a miracle. Best of luck to you!
