Hello, my DH and I was trying to have a baby since March this year. I don't have too many friends ttc as the same time, so really want some support from girls live in the same area. We can share experience, happiness, and sadness of ttc!

Do you mean Bay Area around San Francisco?

Hello bl, nice to meet you. I used to live in SF, but moved to Oakland last year. Redwood City- we are very closed by....I also lived in San Jose before. How are you? Are you ttc too? My DH and I are trying for #1. How about you?

Hi Kitten,
Yes, we are pretty close. Prob about 1/2 hour from each other! How do you like living in Oakland? Where are you originally from? Dh and I are ttc #2 for almost a year. It took me 5 months to get preg with ds. I'm now seeing a re in Palo Alto. We are at the starting phase of testing to figure out why I'm not getting preg. Are you charting, opk? I wouldn't get to discouraged yet, it could happen for you. I know it seems like you've been ttc for a long time but hang in there. Do you have regular cycles?

To tell you the true, I hate living in Oakland...haha...but it was the only area my DH and I could afford our 1st home at the time. We are planning to sell the house next year and move to somewhere else. I'm from Hong Kong; I came to the US when I was 18. How about you? Where are you from? How old is your ds? I have very irregular cycles (between 25-63 days). I use the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor for 3 cycles now, but haven’t seen the “Peak”. It seems like I’m not ovulating at all. Sometimes, I feel very frustrated about the situation. I contacted my OB last week and going to make an appointment with her to talk more about my situation next month. Do you have regular cycles? Best wishes and lots of baby dust for you.

I think if you're not ovulating, it's a good idea to see your ob. I do get regular cycles now. I had elevated prolactin(Hormone) so now I'm taking meds and they help with my cycle. I ovulate on day 15 now and I used to ovulate on day 21. I have lived on the peninsula since I was 8. I have to say I love it here although it's so expensive. I can't really say too much about Oakland since I think I've only been there once or twice. My son is now 2 1/2. Do you have relatives back in Hong Kong? Do you ever go back? Where do you want to move next?

You are right, cost so much to live in the Bay Area. My DH and I went to Reno and saw some brand new houses there last week. The houses were so big and the area was good, but only cost 1/3 of a house in the Bay Area. We are being robbed! (in order to stay in the Bay Area). I love the Bay Area; the weather, the people, the ocean, the culture…….I just doesn’t like Oakland……u know….hate to hear gun fire every other night. I’m scare even though I stay inside my house. Besides my younger sister, all of my relatives live in Hong Kong (my sister lives in SJ). I miss them very much. I usually went back to Hong Kong every 2 years when I was a student. After I got a job, it was kind of hard to find the time to go back. Therefore, my parents came over instead. I made an appointment with my OB this morning…but you know what…..the earliest appointment was 9/1…..I thought I would go crazy before my appointment!! Today is the CD 26; another cycle without an egg. bl, please tell me what encourage you keep ttc? I just feel so lost and hopeless today….

Hi I am from San Jose!! my dh and I have been trying on our own for 2 years and we have been doing IUI for 3 months, today isn't a good day for me, I just started my period after my long 2ww, and it was our third time!! anyway wish you all the best!! I think we are going to take a break, anyway here doing the IUI and clomid the whole cycle? and does anyone know of insurance that covers percentages for IUI or Invetro?? thanks for the help, Cheryl

kitten117 - July 20

Welcome Cheryl, sorry to hear about your period started. I haven’t have any treatment yet since my OB told me “it often takes couples up to a year to get pregnant” and seemed like she was too busy to see me. What health insurance do you have? Are you and your DH trying for #1? Do you have regular cycles? Best wishes to you.

cspears99 - July 20

thanks, yes its baby #1 for us, we are both 32yrs old. Our dr made us wait too, over a year before doing tx, our ins covers nothing of fertility we have United health care, but my husband can change in sept but we won't know to what until then, so thinking about waiting until then to start again take a breather, it takes so much out of you, our ins isn't an hmo or ppo, its something else, but I have heard of some insurances covering like 80% of things??

Wow, another bay area girl! Cheryl, dh and I graduated from sjsu. What re office are you going to? I just started at Fertlityt Physicians Of N. Ca. They have an office in Palo Alto and San Jose. They have a really good reputation. I'm sorry a/f came. Do they know why you cant get preg? I'm not sure about insurance, I think it depends. I know that my policy doesn't cover anything. Keep your spirits up. It's nice to talkt o people from the same area. Kitten, I have gone through a roller coaster of emotions the last year. Now I don't get too depressed when a/f comes because I don't get my hopes up, so I'm not disappointed. I do believe it will happen sooner or later. Don't get me wrong, I have my days of crying and frustration. I think that's a long time to wait for an appointment. Especially if you're ttc and not ovulating.I can understand your ob saying it can take a year, but that's if your cycles are regular. Maybe they can put you on the cancellation list. I'm so sorry that Oakland is like that, I don't blame you for wanting to move!

and my cycles are usually normal every 31 days I get a/f and with the clomid and stuff things have been good, having 3 or more follicles, everything seems to be right on track except getting pregnant??? Today was exactly 31days since had last a/f, it just sucks I was so positive it was going to happen this time, but oh well, maybe it will happen sometime.

I am actually from Boston, but I have lived here for 12yrs. I am doing the IUI cycles at my regular ob, but they don't go any further than that, so if this doesn't work then we can talk about trying to afford IVF then I would look into a clinic?? My dr is in Mountain view, not sure why we are not getting pregnant everything is right on, did all the blood work, have follicles, the only thing I haven't done yet is the HCG test, the dye test, but I am scheduled for next thursday so if something is blocked then I will know why, and might make me feel better, if not then I don't know, they also had to manually open my cervix once, so who knows, but I may ask you about the fertility place soon, thanks Cheryl

bl - July 20

Cheryl, good luck with the hsg. Maybe after the hsg you can just go for a consultation. It cost 300. but they may seee something that the ob didn't. They will look through all of your medical records. It couldn't hurt. The re specializes in trying to get people preg and that's what they do all day long! It was hard for me to switch, i was so comfortable with my ob, but I knew it was time after one year of ttc.
