Tracy, don't be so hard on yourself!! If you only weigh 125, you are thin! Feeling fat doesn't bother me at home. It is sort of funny to me to see a little tummy. However at work, I feel like people are thinking, "Dang, what is up w/her?? Packing on the pounds..." I am just trying to dress to cover it up. I will bring my computer to Chicago with me, so I can post here and there, but I will be reading all the time to see how things are going with you!! Will you start meds on cd3? Is your dr ordering them for you?

Ann1 - May 3

By the way, if anyone else wants to jump into this thread, feel free. Both Tracy and I are doing injectibles with iui now and plan to move to ivf soon if the injectibles don't work.

Keeli - May 3

Hi! I have PCOS and tried clomid/IUI for 6 months last year. I just found out this month about soy. Don't know much about it, so I wouldn't recommend anyone else use it too, but thought I'd throw this out on this thread. Apparently you can take it on cd-3-7, 5-9 or other clomid schedule and it will make you ovulate just like clomid. Have either of you heard about this?

Tracy88 - May 3

Hello! Keeli, I personally would stay away from the soy. There are so many reasons....too many to get into, but I took myself off soy about two months ago. I have been TTC for a year and half, so soy obviously wasn't helping the situation. Ann, I know I sound stupid complaining about my weight, but when it is all fat, it ain't pretty. The doctor is waiting to hear from me when I get AF, and yes, will order the meds as soon as I call. He said they overnight them. I will also have a cd3 ultrasound. This is assuming I don't get scheduled for the laparoscopy this cycle. Chances are he won't be able to schedule the surgery until next cycle, so I will probably start the injectibles.

Keeli - May 3

Thanks for your input Tracy. Were you taking it every day or just to stimulate ovulation? I keep hearing about women like me with PCOS and week ovulations that have gotten pg using soy instead of clomid.

Ann1 - May 3

Hi Keeli and welcome. I don't have pcos, but I know several people on the site that have it. I have never heard about soy, but it definitely seems like injectibles are far superior to clomid for pcos women to help with O. Tracy, like I said, I am sure you are being waaaay too hard on yourself. V cool on the meds. Let me know when you get them. I just talked to my dh. He is coming to the appt w/me today.

I'm just suprised soy info is not all over this web page. Here's some more info. Of course, take out all the "-"s. This one is from one person that got a BFP taking it after ttc for 2 years. http://www2.fertilityfriend.com/home/dca46 This one is a thread from a bunch of PCOS women that started in 2002, and many became pg using it. http://www.soulcysters.net/show

And another thread http://www.mothering.com/discu
ssions/showthread.php?t=275836
And another one http://talk.sheknows.com/showthread.php?t=97605 Seems like everyone has been talking about this but us. I just found out about it this month, and am trying to research it, and was wondering if anyone had heard about it.

I just got back from my u/s. My follies are super strange this month. Now I have a 22 and a 15.7 on my right and a 15.4 on my left. I think he may have said something about a 13 on my left, too, but I can't remember. I have to do another 150 of Follistim tonight and then trigger tomorrow night. I will have iui Saturday morning now. I am so glad about that, because I won't have to deal with leaving work!!

Tracy88 - May 4

That's good news about your follies, what's strange about them? Is it the differences in their sizes? Nice you don't have to miss work either for the IUI. Keeli, I'll be honest, I have not done soy supplements, but ate enough soy to feed the world. At the request of my nutritionist, I stopped with soy altogether. My OB said he's seen people who swear by the soy thing, and others who don't think it makes a positive medical difference. Soy contains phytoestrogens, which supposedly mimic human estrogen, but there is not enough evidence in the medical community to support it as a fertility supplement or having dietary benefit. In fact, as far as diet goes, all the hype about how good soy is for you is a product of good advertising and corporate funding. Soy is only good for you when it is fermented, like Tofu, etc.... So my opinion about it helping people to get PG is that it's just not worth even wasting your time or money on. BUT, that's just my opinion. You guys have a good night. AF cramps are coming and going and I'm feeling pretty gross right now.

Ann1 - May 4

Tracy, to me it was super strange that I had 3 follies around 14mm on Monday and one at 11 and then on Wednesday I have one 22 and 2 15s! I thought it was strange that one would grow 8mm and two would only grow 2mm. I expected them all to grow about 4mm. I went in thinking I would see 3 at 18 or 19mm and maybe on at 16 or 17. I don't know what it means if anything. Even though my iui is Saturday, I am considering taking tomorrow off work. I need to rest up a little. I was trying to schedule a couple things today and I realized that I will be gone almost the whole time from May 11-June 1. I have a recruiting day out of town, then a trip to and training in Chicago, dh's family reunion and New Orleans visit before, and then a work meeting out of town. I will be home the evening of May 19 until the morning of the 24th, but I may only come to the office on the 22nd (office visit day for our recruits). On May 23 I am taking my intern counselee to the spa. That should be interesting, because my counselee is male! How are you doing? Work has been hectic today until now. I am waiting for a meeting to start.

WOW, I got stressed out just reading your upcoming schedule. I have to say, I cannot handle being that busy. I am just such a laid back person who has to take things at my own pace or I lose it. For example, when I was teaching elementary school, I had to get up super early, prepare for the day, deal with rotten kids all day long, once the kids left I had to do paperwork, and once I got home, I usually had to finish anything I had not during the day (and there was always something). I was a wretched, miserable, sick, cranky woman. I am just not built for structure and schedules. Now that I work very part time and make going to the gym my priority, I am happier than a pig in mud, and ironically, not sick like I was 6 months ago. Well, I called the doctor's office and it looks like I will be starting my injectibles on monday or tuesday. If af shows in the morning, then it will be on monday probably. I took an HPT and it was NEGATIVE!!!!! The only reason I did it was because I thought once I took it, AF would suddenly show, like usual. I was trying to mentally induce her! Now, I see what you mean about your follies being strange. That really doesn't make sense. Isn't it normal though to have like one or two dominant follicles that can determine what happens with some of the others????or am just way off on this. I read so much I may have info jumbled up in my head. Have a great day tomorrow....I hope you stay home and take it easy. Be like me!!!!!

As busy as I get sometimes, it is important to me to have control over my schedule and I do have that. I could NEVER teach. That would frustrate me to no end plus teachers are so underpaid! I wish I liked working out like you do. I am basically a sloth. I have no idea on the follie question. They seem strange to me. Yea that you will be starting the meds!! Do you know your doses and meds yet? I am hoping for your af to show as strange as that always sounds in our little ttc world. I am headed out soon. I will likely be on the computer tomorrow, since I will have a relaxing day! Have a good Friday and weekend.

Tracy88 - May 5

Teachers are very underpaid and I'll tell you, I only did it for the benefits since I was single and had just left working in TV. If I had more control over my schedule, etc...it might not be so bad, but how often does one end up in such positions? Sometimes I think it's luck....the right company and the right position. You know, my DH paid for the personal trainer because I too was a sloth. I had a gym membership since July and probably made it in there 5 times before March. The only reason I have such dedication is because my trainer gives you a notebook in which you have to log all of your exercise and calories burned. He checks it and asks about your food, etc....plus he is always there, and checks the computer to see how many times during the week you have come in. I love it....I have a babysitter!!!! There is true accountability. Plus, today he measured my body fat for the second time and it has gone down 5.1% in almost 6 weeks. He was super proud and then proceeded to kick my ass to step things up a bit. It has become a challenge for me to check the scale and see the pounds coming off, and then to keep up with it. I am truly addicted now. My trainer is soooo unhappy about me doing more hormones though. I'm pretty scared too, but what the hell, I have no time to waste. I have to work tomorrow from 1 to 8, but I will check in before and after work to see how things are progressing with you.

Tracy88 - May 5

Still no AF yet. Should show today, I guess. We'll see. She'll probably show at work just to piss me off.

I don't know how many people have control over their job schedules. My company makes a big deal about how they treat their employees like the "professionals" they are. Their philosophy is basically that you can come and go when you want as long as your work gets done and your clients are happy. Of course that means long hours sometimes! I also get 28 days of paid time off per year (I don't ever take that much, but it is nice to know it is there). I think the "natural" people don't like the thought of hormones. My acupuncturist doesn't like it either. If I was 30, I might try another way, but I feel like I am at the end of the rope right now and need to try the most difficult things asap. I am home today and dh just brought me coffee. I am just flipping channels. It is nice even though I feel lazy already. I feel like I am playing hooky!! Hopefully af will show before work. That will be a pain if she arrives then!

So, get this.....DH gave his sample for a SA a couple of weeks ago, from which they determined his "round cells" were high. That can always mean that there is infection present in the body. So, they made him bring in a second sample that they could culture to find out what was going on, and they found strep. I was sick last week and started taking antibiotics about 5 days ago, thinking I had a sinus issue again, but now I'm thinking it is strep. My throat has been sore, I have had to do #3, and a couple times I took my temp I had a fever. No wonder my workouts were a struggle last week. They are going to culture my cervix to see if I have it too, which I think I do at this point. They said strep likes to hang out in the cervix, so they will be able to see if it is present in the culture. Just found out from DH that his dad is in the hospital in Vegas. He has been on vacation there for a week, and this morning apparently had a mild heart attack. He is ok from what we hear. Don't feel guilty for laying around or playing hookie. I tend to get up and clean something when I feel that way....don't know why, but it makes me feel a little productive. Make some cookies or something! The company you work for sounds like a blessing. I like that kind of mentality....after all, it is about their bottom line and customer satisfaction. That makes for pretty good morale. What I hated about teaching was that we were watched like hawks, constantly being observed, and given no credit for anything. Needless to say, morale was low! I have no cramps to speak of, have no idea what my body is up to, and am about to go crazy trying to figure it out. Taking the day off from the gym.....surprisingly not sore at all after the torture that was done to me yesterday. I thought for sure I would not be able to walk today. So you are still doing acupuncture? How often do you go?
