Low progesterone

I have 2 boys, 5 and 2 1/2. I got pregnant when my youngest was 10 months but miscarried at 5 weeks. Then I got pregnant again last month and just lost the baby last week. I was 8 weeks. After doing blood work once I started spotting they found that my prog. level was only 6.7. So they put me on a double dose of prometrium. I am hoping that this is the only cause for my miscarriages. But, why after 2 healthy pregnancies with 0 problems throughout am I all of a sudden having low prog?
