Does Puregon Work/Male infertility..?

Hello,

I really need some advise, my husband has slow motility. We have tried 4 cycles of IUI (no luck). Our Dr. wants us to try Puregon followed with IUI.

To me it doesn't make any sense because the problem is on my husbands end, thankfully I produce beautiful eggs and ovulate when I'm supposed to.

How would Puregon benifit us in our situation, I can produce all the eggs I want, but if my husband has low motility it still can not swim up to the eggs.

I am trying to convince him to jump to IVF, but he really wants to try Puregon(IUI) one last time.

Your thoughts/opinions please??

Thanks.

Hi DSTNE,

My husband has borderline motility so he has been taking male fertility supplements to help his sperm. When we've done our IUIs his numbers have been really good after they've been washed.

I don't ovulate on my own, I have PCOS and so far we've done 3 cycles of IUI, one with Clomid and the last 2 with Letrozole. I am currently in the 2ww and will test on Sept 3rd.
Puregon is supposed to give you more eggs. Maybe your dr thinks that if you hav emore eggs then the chances are greater that the sperm will get there.
I have a friend who started out doing an IUI cycle and because she had so many eggs, they decided to do IVF. See what happens after you take Puregon and if you have a lot of follies, demand to do an IVF.

If this cycle doesn't wor then I will be moving on to Puregon and IUI. Hopefully I won't have to get there.

Have you considered vitamins for your husband? Has youd dr suggested anything for him to take. My dh is taking Fertil Pro and it seems be helping a lot. Also make sure he takes in a lot of zinc.

Best of luck!!
